Why does my baby keep pulling Tupperware out of our kitchen cabinets?

My daughter pulls Tupperware and whatever else she can find out of our floor-level (read: baby eye-level) kitchen cabinets. She thinks it's the best game ever, but I'm starting to lose patience; how many times can you put the same stuff away in one morning?! Does she just think it’s fun because I don't?

Cleaning up messes -- especially the same mess over and over -- IS a huge pain. The easy solution is securing the cabinets so she can't open them by using childproof locks. But also consider this: Pulling and lifting the Tupperware is sort of like toddler weight lifting; it can help her build arm strength. (The same applies to any other objects, such as toys, that she waves around.) So, since it's a good thing, keep three or four plastic tubs in that cabinet, specifically for her to play with, but move the rest to a higher spot that she can't reach.

Why does my baby keep pulling Tupperware out of our kitchen cabinets?

We've locked our baby girl out of all low level cabinets except our Tupperware drawer. I think its cute to see her dig in there and pull everything out. Instead of getting frustrated I make the best of it by asking her "where is the Blue lid?", or "bring mommy the round one". We've also been working on clean up cues like "time to put them all back in their house now" And she enjoys putting things back as much as she likes taking them out. Parenthood can be frustrating but remember every moment can be one of learning and exploration if you let it. Whats a few pieces of Tupperware on the floor in the grand scheme of things.

I also noticed my twin B/G were enjoyed playing with the pots and pans. So I decided to give them colorful plastic bowls to play with and they seem to enjoy themselves more than the noise maker toys. I guess it's the simple things in life that entertain them.

I let my daughter make a mess until naptime, then wen clean up. Then make another mess until bedtime, then clean up. That way I'm not constantly following her around, cleaning up after her. I tell myself, the bigger mess she makes, the better nap she takes!

My 14 month old son also leaves little "surprises" in all of my tupperware/measuring cups/etc...balls, legos, little men. I try not to let it bother me, clean up twice a day (before nap and before bed), and remind myself that the house will be plenty (and sadly) quiet and clean when he is gone, and that I will miss all his surprises.

Why does my baby keep pulling Tupperware out of our kitchen cabinets?

I have a 13 month old who enjoys that game... My solution was to empty one of my lower cupboards and fill it with her toys... That is "Marlie's Cupboard". She loves that she has some ownership in the kitchen. Now when she goes for another cupboard, I tell her "That's not Marlie's cupboard. Where is Marlie's cupboard?" She remembers that she has her own space and goes there to play... It was a perfect solution for us! :o)

My daughter has been pullingmy dishes out since she was & months and now she is 14 months and it's like it's still brand new to her. I do get tired of picking the dishes up but with as long as it entertain it takes less tim to clean it up so I don't stress to much over it.

My 14 month daughter also loves to pull the pots and pans, Tupperware, plastic drinks, paper plates, and anything else she can reach. It keeps her busy and as long as it is not dangerous we let her go at it. It is entertaining to watch her. When we think she has made enough mess in the kitchen we just redirect her tho her toys in her room.

That is one of the things that babies do. I have a friend that works for an atlanta junk removal company and when I had my baby he came and "baby proofed" the house. I think you should baby proof your house too because in a few months you'll feel the storm too.

Why does my baby keep pulling Tupperware out of our kitchen cabinets?

lol! Because that is what they DO! Our DD is our fourth kid and she is 10 years younger than her next sibling so we were kinda missing those baby days. Experience has taught us to let the small stuff slide and save the battles of will for the really important things- and there will be battles of will! Trust me!- and that advice applies through all their years. As the responses below suggest, designate a cupboard that she can play in and encourage her to participate in the clean up. Parenting is a LOT of work but you will have a clean house again someday. This too shall pass. When you feel exasperated, take deep breaths and walk away, if you can, to do something fun with baby. Someday you will be pulling out a piece of Tupperware, remember this time and laugh about how cute she was and how frustrated you were. :)
