Doctors take preterm labor very seriously, so yes, you should be comforted to know that there will be specialists waiting if you are delivering a preemie. There may be anesthesiologists, surgeons or Maternal Fetal Medical Specialist (MFM) there to help you, but there will also be plenty of people on-hand to attend to your baby. Specifically, you should expect to meet a neonatologist, who can provide specialized care for at-risk newborns.
