Q&A: Sex feels different while pregnant?

I'm finally back in the mood for sex... but things feel a little different down there. What's going on?

The Bump Expert

Ahh, the second trimester... Thanks to raging hormones and (hopefully) decreasing fatigue and nausea, your libido is rebounding nicely from the first trimester fade. In fact, some women find these middle months bring the best sex not just of their pregnancy, but of their lives. Keep in mind, though, that the changes in your body certainly don't skip your private parts.

Blood flow to your vagina's muscles and lining is increased, which can make it feel fuller. Some women find this pleasurable; others, uncomfortable. Lubrication and vaginal secretion will naturally increase, which again can be either nice or a nuisance. Try not to panic if you experience bleeding or spotting after sex. The increased blood flow to your cervix can result in broken blood vessels at its tip. Avoid deep penetration to lessen this disturbing (but harmless) occurrence, and don't hesitate to call the doc if you're especially concerned.

It’s also important to keep your husband abreast of the changes you’re experiencing. Your boobs and genitals are increasingly sensitive, and a touch to the same spot might feel extremely pleasurable one day and incredibly uncomfortable the next. Don't hesitate to give him careful instructions -- he can't know what feels good unless you tell him.

Q&A: Sex feels different while pregnant?

knowing that the lack of sex drive won't last the whole time makes me feel so much better!!! I was so afraid I wasn't going to be in the mood for the next 8 months!

Q&A: Sex feels different while pregnant?

I am usually VERY interested in sex. I'm 6 weeks 5 days now and really not so interested. My husband always wants me on top now because he thinks he will "crush the baby." I am to tired. I hope this goes away soon.

Q&A: Sex feels different while pregnant?

from about 4 months to now 7 months I've had no sex drive. I'm not sure if it's because of all my weight gain making it more difficult or what, but It takes a few minutes of having sex for me to get into it.. It's a pain! I'm sure it will change once baby comes.

Q&A: Sex feels different while pregnant?

During the first trimester I didn't want anything to do with sex, I wasn't in the mood and when we would it wasn't that great. Then during the 2nd trimester I was always in the mood. I sware I could never get enough. Im now 8 months pregnant and it is again isn't the most comfortable, nor does it feel the same, but I know that sex helps the pregnancy so I'm in a pickle.

Q&A: Sex feels different while pregnant?

First trimester I was too tired, and had too much 'morning' sickness to enjoy or want sex ... Second has been much better .. now to find some new positions to keep it interesting and comfortable. I do find though ... the places that I didn't like to be touched before, I like now ... poor DH always on the learning curve with me.

Q&A: Sex feels different while pregnant?

The first trimester I couldn't even FATHOM wanting to have sex again.... No in the fifth month, I can not think about anything else... and for those of you who have read Jenny McCarthy's book "Belly Laughs," it is true. The pregnant orgasm is unbelievable!

Q&A: Sex feels different while pregnant?

During my first trimester I wanted to have sex like every day three times a day but now that I'm in my second trimester my sex drive has went way down I'm 27 weeks and most days I don't even want to think about it and when I do I'm afraid to start anything cause it ends up hurting me and my man is left just laying there like WTF

Q&A: Sex feels different while pregnant?

I also wanted to have sex all the time during my 7th to 10th week and it was great! The orgasms were unbelievable. The past two weeks it hasn't been as great, more like sex before I was pregnant. Hopefully it will go back to being awesome, at least for a while.

Q&A: Sex feels different while pregnant?

its the worst in the third trimester! you don't get into it as much and its very uncomfortable and i believe the man can tell that you aren't feeling it. I just like to avoid it and so does he!!! but we still give kisses and cuddle :] the best is at the beginning of the pregnancy lol

Q&A: Sex feels different while pregnant?

My first trimester my sex drive was through to roof, but now going into the second trimester I have zero desire. I have only gained a few lbs so that doesnt bother me. Even when we do have sex its extremely hard for me to get into it. I hope it comes back soon!

Q&A: Sex feels different while pregnant?

During the first few weeks after we found out, my sex drive was INSANE! But ever since we passed month 4 or so I can't orgasm anymore and have next to zero desire, which DH and I both find upsetting since we usually have great sex.

For all you ladies that are in your first trimester and are worried you will never want sex again- it gets better! I'm at 22 weeks, and my poor man can't keep up with me! I don't always feel super attractive, but enjoy it while you can!

Q&A: Sex feels different while pregnant?

I knew the day I became pregnant. I still waited until I was supposed to start, but definitely knew. Sex has been Great! I am now 5 1/2 months and it is Still Great! I want it more than before, but It is so much easier and pleasurable than before pregnancy. Positions have a huge impact on what is comfortable also. Communication with your partner is the key. = )

Q&A: Sex feels different while pregnant?

I am 37 wks and 2 days. I have a scheduled c-section on the 13th. My sex drive has been incredible throughout this whole pregnancy! My fiance can't keep up with me, for once. Before pregnancy we had sex everyday 2 to 3 times a day, now its about 2 to 3 times a week but believe me, if it was up to me it'd be like it was before the pregnancy. I keep telling him that we wont be able to have sex for 8 weeks after c-section so that sure makes him feel guilty and he caves in. LOL I love pregnancy sex and the different positions we find so we hither enjoy it! I literally orgasm 4 or 5 times!!

azmommyof02 | July 01 , 2011 6:31 PM

Q&A: Sex feels different while pregnant?

I'm in my 5th week and I have had no drive at all! I think it's a combination of being sick with a three week bladder infection, antibiotics making it painful down there, and constant gas pains(bless the tums). It's awful. My DH has even resorted to try to turn me on while when he dreams(this happened before pregnancy too)! Which my normal reply is, "I'm sleeping, leave me alone." :( However, he's understanding and respects the fact that I don't want to be touched.

Q&A: Sex feels different while pregnant?

Maybe im just an oddball but my sex drive immediately shot up during the begining of the prgnancy and now i am in the middle of my second trimester and it is still up there. It does feel different but usually in a good way.

rebelmayer | July 04 , 2011 7:16 PM

Q&A: Sex feels different while pregnant?

I am 7 weeks pregnant and so far the first trimester has been difficult for me on the sex life. Although I have had little nausea, I am exhausted. I find it more difficult to orgasm and when I do, the orgasm does not last as long as it used to. I don't experience any pain so that is good. I'm just sad that I'm not able to enjoy sex as much as I used to. Hopefully it will get better as I move into the second trimester.

Q&A: Sex feels different while pregnant?

I'm 4 weeks pregnant and when me an my husband have sex, it feels oddly different, like the walls are squeezing together causing sex to be a little uncomfortable and sometimes painful. Is that normal?

Q&A: Sex feels different while pregnant?

once my first trimester was over my sex drive went through the roof! i'm 37 weeks now && i still can't get enough! i think libido and sex drive particularly depends on the woman and how comfortable they are with their bodies and their pregnancy. i love pregnant sex and i plan on getting down until my little one gets here!

Q&A: Sex feels different while pregnant?

During the whole pregnancy my hubby and i have had sex probably about 2 to 4 times. (i'm 34 weeks now) my first trimester too scared and not in the mood to have sex. My second trimester sex drive came back slowly not as scared due too dr saying it was ok to have sex and surprisingly it didn't hurt at all but the only way DH would is if i was on top. Now i am in third trimester baby is due next month sex is still awesome but being on top is becomming difficult to achieve lol.

Q&A: Sex feels different while pregnant?

37 weeks and always in the mood but biggest problem is i feel like i haven't had a full orgasm in over a month. and idk whats wrong... even changing positions isn't helpful. the worst part is my husband doesn't understand how i can only have what feels like half an orgasm so it makes it harder for him to help. :(
