The Bump Expert

Ahh, the second trimester... Thanks to raging hormones and (hopefully) decreasing fatigue and nausea, your libido is rebounding nicely from the first trimester fade. In fact, some women find these middle months bring the best sex not just of their pregnancy, but of their lives. Keep in mind, though, that the changes in your body certainly don't skip your private parts.

Blood flow to your vagina's muscles and lining is increased, which can make it feel fuller. Some women find this pleasurable; others, uncomfortable. Lubrication and vaginal secretion will naturally increase, which again can be either nice or a nuisance. Try not to panic if you experience bleeding or spotting after sex. The increased blood flow to your cervix can result in broken blood vessels at its tip. Avoid deep penetration to lessen this disturbing (but harmless) occurrence, and don't hesitate to call the doc if you're especially concerned.

It’s also important to keep your husband abreast of the changes you’re experiencing. Your boobs and genitals are increasingly sensitive, and a touch to the same spot might feel extremely pleasurable one day and incredibly uncomfortable the next. Don't hesitate to give him careful instructions -- he can't know what feels good unless you tell him.

Q&A: Sex feels different while pregnant?

knowing that the lack of sex drive won't last the whole time makes me feel so much better!!! I was so afraid I wasn't going to be in the mood for the next 8 months!

Q&A: Sex feels different while pregnant?

I am usually VERY interested in sex. I'm 6 weeks 5 days now and really not so interested. My husband always wants me on top now because he thinks he will "crush the baby." I am to tired. I hope this goes away soon.

Q&A: Sex feels different while pregnant?

from about 4 months to now 7 months I've had no sex drive. I'm not sure if it's because of all my weight gain making it more difficult or what, but It takes a few minutes of having sex for me to get into it.. It's a pain! I'm sure it will change once baby comes.

Q&A: Sex feels different while pregnant?

During the first trimester I didn't want anything to do with sex, I wasn't in the mood and when we would it wasn't that great. Then during the 2nd trimester I was always in the mood. I sware I could never get enough. Im now 8 months pregnant and it is again isn't the most comfortable, nor does it feel the same, but I know that sex helps the pregnancy so I'm in a pickle.

Q&A: Sex feels different while pregnant?

First trimester I was too tired, and had too much 'morning' sickness to enjoy or want sex ... Second has been much better .. now to find some new positions to keep it interesting and comfortable. I do find though ... the places that I didn't like to be touched before, I like now ... poor DH always on the learning curve with me.

During my first trimester I wanted to have sex like every day three times a day but now that I'm in my second trimester my sex drive has went way down I'm 27 weeks and most days I don't even want to think about it and when I do I'm afraid to start anything cause it ends up hurting me and my man is left just laying there like WTF

Q&A: Sex feels different while pregnant?

I also wanted to have sex all the time during my 7th to 10th week and it was great! The orgasms were unbelievable. The past two weeks it hasn't been as great, more like sex before I was pregnant. Hopefully it will go back to being awesome, at least for a while.

its the worst in the third trimester! you don't get into it as much and its very uncomfortable and i believe the man can tell that you aren't feeling it. I just like to avoid it and so does he!!! but we still give kisses and cuddle :] the best is at the beginning of the pregnancy lol

Q&A: Sex feels different while pregnant?

During the first few weeks after we found out, my sex drive was INSANE! But ever since we passed month 4 or so I can't orgasm anymore and have next to zero desire, which DH and I both find upsetting since we usually have great sex.

Q&A: Sex feels different while pregnant?

I knew the day I became pregnant. I still waited until I was supposed to start, but definitely knew. Sex has been Great! I am now 5 1/2 months and it is Still Great! I want it more than before, but It is so much easier and pleasurable than before pregnancy. Positions have a huge impact on what is comfortable also. Communication with your partner is the key. = )

Q&A: Sex feels different while pregnant?

I am 37 wks and 2 days. I have a scheduled c-section on the 13th. My sex drive has been incredible throughout this whole pregnancy! My fiance can't keep up with me, for once. Before pregnancy we had sex everyday 2 to 3 times a day, now its about 2 to 3 times a week but believe me, if it was up to me it'd be like it was before the pregnancy. I keep telling him that we wont be able to have sex for 8 weeks after c-section so that sure makes him feel guilty and he caves in. LOL I love pregnancy sex and the different positions we find so we hither enjoy it! I literally orgasm 4 or 5 times!!

Q&A: Sex feels different while pregnant?

I'm in my 5th week and I have had no drive at all! I think it's a combination of being sick with a three week bladder infection, antibiotics making it painful down there, and constant gas pains(bless the tums). It's awful. My DH has even resorted to try to turn me on while when he dreams(this happened before pregnancy too)! Which my normal reply is, "I'm sleeping, leave me alone." :( However, he's understanding and respects the fact that I don't want to be touched.

Q&A: Sex feels different while pregnant?

I am 7 weeks pregnant and so far the first trimester has been difficult for me on the sex life. Although I have had little nausea, I am exhausted. I find it more difficult to orgasm and when I do, the orgasm does not last as long as it used to. I don't experience any pain so that is good. I'm just sad that I'm not able to enjoy sex as much as I used to. Hopefully it will get better as I move into the second trimester.

Q&A: Sex feels different while pregnant?

once my first trimester was over my sex drive went through the roof! i'm 37 weeks now && i still can't get enough! i think libido and sex drive particularly depends on the woman and how comfortable they are with their bodies and their pregnancy. i love pregnant sex and i plan on getting down until my little one gets here!

Q&A: Sex feels different while pregnant?

During the whole pregnancy my hubby and i have had sex probably about 2 to 4 times. (i'm 34 weeks now) my first trimester too scared and not in the mood to have sex. My second trimester sex drive came back slowly not as scared due too dr saying it was ok to have sex and surprisingly it didn't hurt at all but the only way DH would is if i was on top. Now i am in third trimester baby is due next month sex is still awesome but being on top is becomming difficult to achieve lol.

Q&A: Sex feels different while pregnant?

37 weeks and always in the mood but biggest problem is i feel like i haven't had a full orgasm in over a month. and idk whats wrong... even changing positions isn't helpful. the worst part is my husband doesn't understand how i can only have what feels like half an orgasm so it makes it harder for him to help. :(

Q&A: Sex feels different while pregnant?

For the first 5 months of my pregnancy, I wanted to be touched by NOONE. Least of all my fiance. I felt horrible about it to because he was raring to go and I was like, "I think I will go watch tv...." Now that I am in my 6th month, I've noticed a slight change in my libido. We just have to remember to grab the lube because otherwise, it is too uncomfortable for me :/

How funny! I have been incredibly horny during my first tri-mester (I'm 11 wks 1 day) & Sex has been amazing! Orgasms are coming in multiples when I was someone who couldn't orgasm without my help during sex. My fiance just loves it!

Q&A: Sex feels different while pregnant?

I am 32 weeks along and I HATE sex now. This is from someone how had a healthy sexual drive before pregnancy. This is my 3rd and it has always been the same. As soon as baby is out and I am feeling better I go back to normal. This pregnancy is worse because I work a very physical and demanding job full time (emergency room nurse) and have two other children to care for at home. My husband isn't helping around the house since he started a new job which requires him to work every night with no days off for months at a time so now I am also doing every bit of house work AND yard work in 100 + degree heat. I have no energy after everything is done for the day. I would feel sorry for him for going so long but I really don't - he can wait as far as I am concerned.

Q&A: Sex feels different while pregnant?

Nope, no interest at all yet and I'm 25 weeks. Being huge isn't sexy to me, and having a baby in between, kicking all the while, is just gross.

hmeiers |

Q&A: Sex feels different while pregnant?

I'm 25 Weeks. Fortunately, my sex life has remained the same. My fiancée and I have been having sex several times a week since we found out we were expecting. ( we were doing it ALOT more while I read "50 Shades of Grey" lol) sex is still great but I'm finding that I can't get comfortable. There just aren't that many positions that make it feel good and are comfortable. The only position that is reasonably comfortable is being on top but I lose steam after being up there for 20 or 25 minutes straight. If anyone has any suggestions, that would be great. He thinks I'm a nut but I'm going to research positions because all the ones we have tried have been uncomfortable and we end up laughing at ourselves. Remember also, some people have an interest in sex, some don't. Don't be upset or feel like there's something wrong with you if you don't have a sex drive. Every woman's pregnancy is different and that is true for your sex drive too. Good luck with your pregnancies and sex life girls!

Q&A: Sex feels different while pregnant?

My first trimester my husband and I had sex pretty much 2 to 3 times a week, which was what we did before pregnancy. Starting in my second trimster and continuing into my third, where I am now, it has been painful. It feels like sandpaper. I don't know how else to described it. When we try, about once every couple weeks, we use a ton of lube and all kinds of different positions, but usually we stop half way into it. My husband basically gets turned off, because he can tell it hurts me. With the lube it is bareable, but not pleasurable. We have gotten creative and tried other things, but orgasms have become uncomfortable for me. I feel like a freak of nature. I went from being a very sexual person to avoiding it. I read about all these women who rave about pregnancy sex and how it is so amazing, and as much as I want it, it is quite the opposite of pleasurable. Thankfully my husbad is wonderful and understanding and really doesn't want to do it if it hurts me. I get emotional about it sometimes, because I miss the intimacy. Oh well, it won't last forever.

Q&A: Sex feels different while pregnant?

I havent been interested in sex since month 1-3 after the 3mth i was like ok let me try it, it was nice @ week 20 read that my drive would be enhanced, quite the opposite i didnt want anyone to touch me! i finally caved in after abstaining, and @ 35 weeks i thought that i was going into labour i spent the rest of the night in agony dealing with contractions, that took my breath away, and if those arent the real thing OMG! You better believe no one is touching me again for 4 weeks! i'm so traumatized!

Q&A: Sex feels different while pregnant?

I'm 22 weeks and my husband and I only have sex once or twice a week. I used to orgasm every time we had sex (almost daily), pre pregnancy, but now its painful in all positions except for rear entry aka doggie style. It is not a very intimate position and I have yet to orgasm while pregnant. This is quite discouraging.

Q&A: Sex feels different while pregnant?

I love having sex and I understand all too well the whole "feeling good one day and painful the next" thing. I experienced that with my first child and now with my second little one. We have worked around it and we have found something that feels very intimate to me. The best advice I can give to people in this situation switch to "Heavy petting” and Oral sex. It’s not the same as sex and nothing replaces it but it’s a start.

Q&A: Sex feels different while pregnant?

I am usually a very sexual person. Since becoming pregnant everything "down there" has become hyper sensitive and I don't want to be touched at all. When I do allow intercourse it's painful and difficult to find a tolerable position. I can't wait to want my hubby again! It's so difficult to look at him and lust, but have my body tell me "HECK NO!"

Q&A: Sex feels different while pregnant?

I was okay until morning sickness kicked in. After it went away, I had about a 2-3 week window when I actually wanted to have sex. We're in our 2nd trimester and I really don't want to have sex that often. Granted, I'm just getting over 2+ weeks of being ill. And, my exhaustion and general tiredness never leaves (no matter how much sleep I get or how healthy my diet is - no mineral/nutrient deficiencies). I'm just annoyed that I don't want to have sex more often. Hopefully my libido will increase now that this ridiculous cold/cough has FINALLY left my system. I know my husband would appreciate it.

Q&A: Sex feels different while pregnant?

Due to trama several years back, I didn't want anything to do with sex BEFORE I was pregnant, besides 'doing it' to actually conceive. I'm 25 weeks now, but since about 19 weeks my drive has been through the roof. I can't get enough! I feel human again!!! I really hope this is a turning point that I can leave the past behind and finally have an active life with my husband <3

Q&A: Sex feels different while pregnant?

I also noticed a lot of changes especially when I was pregnant in 8 months, the sex was so great and the orgasms were unbelievable. Problems started after I gave birth and I had to consult a doctor at Vaginismus MD clinic, the Botox treatment program worked great and after that I had pain free intercourse with my husband.

amyabel68 |

Q&A: Sex feels different while pregnant?

My sex drive was pretty below average before I got pregnant. It improved a little during the first trimester, but now at 26 weeks, I want nothing to do with it. I've had pretty much zero nausea or fatigue the entire time, haven't gained much weight, but my libido is completely MIA. I feel so bad for my husband, he's so patient. I'm really hoping those hormones kick in at some point so we can have a normal sex life again. It's also really difficult to switch the mindset from mommy back to wife, so it definitely takes time to get into it on the rare occasion that we do have sex.
