Your Pregnancy: Week 23

Swollen from head to toe? Increased blood flow, by now an old friend, is to blame. Consider a trip to the shoe store because loosening ligaments will cause your feet to expand even more in the weeks to come.

Baby's now the size of a papaya!
Baby's little face is fully formed...minus the baby fat, of course. The next task at hand for baby: sprouting two teeny-tiny nipples!

To-do:
> Revisit money and legal matters
> Reminder: Prepared for maternity leave?
> Go to your checklist

[ tip ] Taking a trip? Pack the oh-so-adorable compression stockings. Like 'em or not, they'll keep the blood moving in your legs, heart, and lungs during travel.

idk but my baby feels waaaaaaay bigger than a papaya!

by andreavbtz4

i thought the same about my first son, i was hugeee at 23 weeks everyone thought i was about to pop within 2 months but he was only 7 lbs and 11 oz when he was born i guess i just ate wayyyy to much lol

by tamralee29

yeah i know how u feel andreavbtz4. my baby feels like its already at cantalope status lol

by brandonsmommy1O

i thought it was the size of a papaya last week ---

by SamanthaS31

mine to, the way she kicking me dont feel like a papaya

by momat2509

I am with you all, I am not that big but my baby is moving and kicking like crazy.

by kpthompson

ok, i guess im just eating way too much because i feel HUGE, lol

by brettbrett

My baby def feels like a papaya!! She is kicking hard and am scared to think she is only getting bigger. Cant wait to see her and hold her. Baby clothes are so cute ;)

by Baby girl Brown

I am going to agree with ALL of you! She can not be a papaya...what a bout a small pumkin - like those one for homemade pumpkin pies...I feel like a pumpkin

by eto22

I have everyone from strangers approaching me and assuming I'm about 7 months along but I'm only 5 months! I don't think my baby is the size of a papaya and hasn't been for a few weeks now :) I have stronger jabs, kicks and all kinds of other movement. No papaya here LOL!

by nitab701@aol.com

i'm 23 weeks and feel like i'm 30.. Belly is finally here.. and I feel huge! I am a full time student and by the time I walk from my car to the school I am very out of breath. It says baby should be sleeping anywhere from 12-14 hours a day.. Baby never stops moving!

by madechic16

I wonder if I should be bigger than what I am already. I have told people that I'm 23 weeks and they don't believe me. I'm kind of worried that I'm not poking out as much as I should. Should I be concerned???? Should I be gaining more weight?

by Lionpaws2

Thank goodness it's not just me. I eat healthy, and don't pig out and I have gained 20 lbs. I still excersie and am active and am not "eating for two" but I still feel huge. Someone at my work is two months ahead and she is sooooooooo tiny and I feel like I have to keep up with the Joneses even during pregnancy.

by cmontisano

I never received a CVS. Is that a big deal?

by richtoy

I have never seen a papaya... :( So its hard for me to get a visual.

by KickFace6

well my baby might be the size of a papaya but she feels like a huge watermelon...she has been very active since I was about 18 weeks

by enedeliayjoel

yea my babygrl seems a lot bigger, by the way she kicks it seems like ready to bust on out. lol this is my second grl but man is she so much active then the first one.

by NANAS_11

Well how are you ladies doing? I'm feeling grreat at times. But my back just starting to hurt this past week. So, i get massages now & they help my back alot. I feel my lil baby gir moving around alot. So, i know when she get here she'll be the same way. :) Have a great pregnancy.......

by mcoleman1

I know with my first pregnancy, I gained a total of 65lbs! Everyone thought I was having twins. By 23 weeks I had already gained well over 20lbs...but during this pregnancy I've gained only about 10lbs so far. I've got a belly, but I'm no where near as big as I was the first time...

by Mommy7285

My baby feels much bigger than a papaya too! lol.

by xLunasMommax

So a week or two ago my feet were hurting so incredibly bad,...i thought it was just because i work standing on hard wood floors all day but when i went to buy some new shoes i had them measure my feet and they were a full size bigger! Well that is why my feet hurt, my shoes were way too small. Definitely get'em measured if your feet are achy!

by genager24

I hurt. Like a bowling ball mabye two is streatching me and will fall out at any moment! This is my second. My first was a boy and this one is a girl. With my son I felt happy and energetic by this time but now I feel lethargic and sore. Is anyone else experiencing this too?

by arabuck

i thought that the baby was the size of a papaya last week also samanthaS31..so i checked and we are both right...lol...and its still the size of a papaya next week too...so i'm just a little bit confused about that...

by rachelann88

i must be abnormal cause im still not getting very big... just look fat and i eat all the time! and this is my 2nd baby...I thought you got bigger faster the 2nd time around

by littlemisslynne

At this point, what is the baby's kick supossed to feel like? I'm 23 weeks along, but not sure if I'm really feeling the baby kick or if it's just gas bubbles or something.

by tracycrane

please, the doctor just told me that I could stand to gain more weight because I am small for 23 weeks....

by mrsann28

Hi every one I was wondering does any body belly button hurt at 23 weeks?

by briannamya

Definitely bigger than a papaya! ha! Saw the u/s and figured out I'm getting elbowed more than anything- SHE IS STRONG! Really tired and she is sooo busy!

by mollysmommy97@gmail.com

My baby girl NEVER stops kicking. Sometimes its so hard it makes me jump. I think she is practicing some dance moves or something...

by alysunogilby

I feel the same way! She's so big you can actually feel her kicks from the outside already! On a different note, I noticed my face getting a big more full these days...I don't love all this swelling!

by melaniew4

i'm having the same problem, but i know my friend had a healthy 7lb baby boy and she was huge, i mean HUGE. Turns out most of it was amniotic fluid and she lost most of that size as soon as they broke her water.

by aeubanks09

I feel the same way. As uncomfortable as I feel sometimes, I just don't see how I'll make it to May 3rd. But then again....that's how I felt with my first 2. They are boys....this is a girl....and this is by far the worst of the 3 pregnancies. I've had every symptom out there. :-)

by shonnicc

Has anybody's husband been able to feel the kicking yet? My husband is getting so jealous that he can't feel her yet.

by kspychal

I think they may be going by weight, after all, a papaya is nowhere near 10 inches in length.

by dantemedema

We had our ultrasound this past week and baby weighed 1 lb 1oz already!! Hubby and I are so excited..I don't remember how long baby was though, I was just excited that baby was healthy and the Dr moved my due date to May 9th. Baby was positioned oddly though...face down on my left hip, bottom on the right hip and legs stretched up and crossed above my belly button! So cute...now if only they could tell what we were having.

by baybejoey

Ok, WOW! This is like major Girl boom! It seems that everyone is having baby girls! My little girl kicks like crazy ALWAYS! When her Daddy talks to her she kicks him! Its pretty cute, but I def agree with everyone, she feels much bigger than this says she is and I look it too!

by amandac26

I know what you all mean. I feel super pregnant now. I love it tho...especially feeling my baby move so much more often than before. I'm 17 and this is my first baby, so it's weird to be carrying all this extra weight...does anyone know how long it takes to get your figure back after labor?

by lizLOVESdevin

For this baby to be a papaya he be kicking like none stop.

by Ebonieghant

My mother in law told me she didn't start showing until she was 7 months pregnant, but boy am I sure showing now! I think she must be forgetful because her pregnancy WAS 31 years ago after all! :p

by mommyjulie

thats for sure my little one kicks like she is bigger then a papaya.

by mblough909

How come some other resources have six months when you hit 23 weeks and the bump is still doing 5 months? I totally feel like our baby is definitely bigger than a papaya!

by tampadiva

It was a Papaya last week.....he can't be the same size two weeks in a row. New fruit please!

by NikkiGTurner

I think my baby feels bigger than a papaya too! She's squirming around and kicking like she's trying to pry herself out! It's great!

by futuremrstoddwatts

i guess i am just at that point.. im not to big but at times i feel biggers, but thats after i eat.. LOL..

by trshnllr

I guess we are all in the same boat. If you saw my stomach you might think I swallowed a small watermelon nevermind papaya. LOL Who knows maybe they have our due dates wrong. :)

by BWilliams221

swollen feet and lower legs...yeah I'm there.

by hrjones123

maybe my daughter doesn't feel like a papaya, but she sure is kicking way more and harder than my son did at 23 weeks. Sometimes she kicks so hard it scares me, like a surprise and I jump. Sometimes it feels like her foot or hand is going to come right out of my butt or my front lol

by AmyWest

My baby also feels way bigger then a papaya

by hermarjeli

I had a 24 weeker back in 2003 and she was 1 lb 5 oz and 12 in She had not formed her nipples or eyebrows or lashes or nails yet. just a had full head of hair and had all her organs working ( but of course not a proper capacity) and her genetalia was fully formed. but she was tiny maybe not a papaya but between that and a cantaloupe. I am refering to length. They are very very skinny in body size. her limbs were slimer than my size 6 ring finger. I hope this gives you guys a little insight into how your baby may look at 24 weeks. The docs said she was right on target.

by ssproudmama

Just went to the dr yesterday and found out we are having a boy!!! yeah!!! A strong little boy at that, he skipped right past the flutters and bubbles to drop kicks and right hooks!

by ashlee1120

I wish the days would pass quickly and i could have my son in my arms

by hermarjeli

My lil girl is kickin like she is involved in a game of soccer! I luv it:)

by babybenbow

This baby girl inside me definately feels bigger than a papaya when she kicks! Her kicks and moves are getting pretty strong =)

by BumblB

i feel like i already have an infant in my belly lol

by StephF29

I haven't felt the baby kick yet. Or maybe I have, I'm just not sure. I'm 23 weeks today and I've felt some fluttering and some bubbles, but they are always followed by gas so I think it may just be gas. I was overweight when I got pregnant, and the web sites say that it takes a little longer to feel when you are overwight (and when it's your first) - and I've beento the doctor for all my appointments and evrything was fine, but it just makes me worry.

by jgomperts

I don't think my baby is very big, but she kicks like nothing else! I've been feeling her for weeks now and she kicks so much and so hard, sometimes it scares me and makes me jump. We can already feel her from the outside and see her move!

by susie985

Now all day I will be thinking to myself " My baby is growing nipples right now". lol

by snoolu25

Our babies will be the size of papayas until week 26 I believe then they will graduate into an eggplant! I can relate with all of you when you say that your baby MUST be bigger than a papaya, that's how I feel too. She kicks and rolls around all day and night it never seems to stop and she gets hiccups quite a bit. Sometimes she is so strong it is unbelievable. If some of her movements now make me uncomfortable, I cannot imagine a watermelon kicking and rolling around and what it's going to feel like. I'm just soooo excited to meet her!

by kayleemc1986

mine is def bigger. but doctor said he is in the 75th percentile of weight. which is expected with his dad being 10lb 9oz at birth lol

by YoungMom2be

I have a papaya and look like I swallowed a pumpkin.........

by jessmcallister

by quinnlyle

I've gained 18lb and I'm 23wks 4dys are you sure it's JUST a papaya??? lol

by reallove143

At 20 weeks at my ultrasound, baby was already 1.2 pounds. I'm sure I'm giving birth to a football player this time!

by lilnikkiness

Also, this is my 3rd child and this time it's a BOY!!!!! Aside from that news I have gained about 20 pounds and I look like I not only swallowed a watermelon seed but that I have a watermelon patch growing in my belly!!! I can't wait to meet little Taylor. I am due on August 20th.

by lilnikkiness

As this starts my 23 weeks today, I couldn't get out of the bed. I am so tired. My baby doesn't move as much as I would like not until i go to bed usually, so maybe he is the size of a papaya has a lot of space in my stomach.

by msmissygirl

my hubby felt the baby for the 1st time this week!

by stargazer7717

I am so jealous! Everybody tells me I look so small. I am so ready to look pregnant. Hope everybody has a great week.

by turner12

Lol @ momat2509 - that's the same way i feel! These fruits & veggies are totally off!

by ladygorham3

My papaya must be doing some cardio-kick boxing in there, she is movin and grovin like crazy! I can see her moving now too from the outside. Pretty neat!

by tkusske

haha ya my baby feels bigger than a papaya too and sure kicks A LOT too.

by Navywife22

yah it was a papaya two weeks in a row, what the heck...i look forward to this email every thursday morning at 5 a.m. to see what size the baby was and this week, not that exciting I had to go to other websites to find out more detailed info about the baby...

by jenni7411

the way my little one moves feels like she is much larger than a papaya...

by southrnbellmeg7

Wow..I'm almost 6 mths and I'm barely showing. Either this lil girl is hiding in my booty and hips, or I'm going to blow up in my last couple of months! lol According to my ultrasound at 20 weeks, she was weighing 13 oz which was pretty big for a 20 weeker....Hmm...

by MsNekeNewMommy

I think my baby boy's definitely a papaya (or large mango) as my Baby Bump app says (11.5 inches). Haven't felt any kicking yet... is that weird? I read they sleep 12-14 hrs./day now, so maybe he's just snoozing.

by EJLast1

OH MI GOSH IM 23 WEEKS PREGO AND DONT EVEN LOOK PREGNANT IM HAVING ALOT OF BACK PAIN AND ADOMENAL PAIN.....DONT KNOW IF ITS EARLY CONTRACTIONS OR WHAT? I NEED SOME ADVICE ITS MY FIRST BABY

by PWALKER22

by babybeancoop

i agree!! my baby feels bigger than a papaya. hhmmm...fresh, cold, juicy papaya sounds soooo good!

by babybeancoop

cannot wait for my litle girl to get here have a week and 3 months, im so excited for her and to get rid of the bump that has me looking like i have a decent sized watermelon strapped to my stomach..lol

by maureendaringer

Anyone else feeling more scatter-brained than ever right now? I seriously feel like I can understand what having ADD might be like right now!!

by lisaferro

I'm expecting a daughter this time, I had my 20 week ultrasound a few weeks ago when I find out of course it's a girl, but we think that she's gonna be a big girl cause we saw her arms and legs and the only thing I could say was DAMN on how long her arms and legs are. she sure as heck ain't the size of no papaya if that's the case and she kicks like no tomorrow

by jstamand48067

same here everyone just last week were wondering when i was due and when i said sept 4 their reaction said it all... they had the look on their faces like wow are you sure you're not having twins. but the wierd thing is sometimes my belly looks smaller and my boyfriend freaks out like whats happening is she okay...

by larita03

went to the doc 2day got my ultrasound and im having a girl!!!

by TheQueenMommy2Be

i love feeling my baby girl move n kick in my belly :)

by blackbeauty23k

My husband can officially feel the baby kick, it was quite a moment for us!!! Mark actually put his face on my belly and Mason kicked him in the face, we laughed like crazy, then called all of the grandparents. It is so amazing, I can't wait to meet him, my little soccer player.

by steelerchic43

how high is ya'll baby sitting? bc my son is still kicking me bout 3 in under my bellybutton

by wiccababy

Some days I feel like I'm way too big, then some days I feel like I'm not big enough. Who knows?!?!

by rlyttle

its so neat to think that something that weighs alittle more then 1pound is kicking hard enough so daddy can feel her. ill be 23weeks on wed.

by brittstahs

I'm 23 weeks pregnant and I've only gained 4 lbs!! I am thrilled because I was overweight to begin with. Doc says this is fine. I am hoping to only gain 10-15 lbs the whole pregnancy then keep losing from there afterwards!! I do feel like my papaya is huge though!! And he is a little mover and a shaker!!! This is my 7th pregnancy--5th where I am actually carrying baby and all is well. Except for these darn vericose veins!!!!! I hate these compression hose!!!! They won't stay up !!!!! Any suggestions on how to keep them up>?

by tmaholm

into my 5 month of pregnancy are the babys lungs developed?

by bugaboo10

Baby is the size of a papaya until week 25. then he's the size of an eggplant.

by MrsHenderson2008

im worried iv gained to much weight.. i didnt gain anything till like 18 weeks.. but now put on 10lbs in 1.5 months.. could it be water weight or something.. i dont look like ive put on 10lbs..

by brittstahs

I feel the exact same way... I asked doc if I could be further along. She said I am not so lucky.

by jaimebenge

A papaya? Does feel a lot bigger than that. Our daughter is already kicking above my belly button. Doesn't help that I'm a tiny girl either.

by HatchetFamily

Papaya? That's a joke! I am pretty big...this baby has to be at least 2 pounds all ready!

by deneenj

When they say "papaya", they must ve referring to just the body and not counting the legs that I already feel wedged up under my ribs, while the head is resting just above my public bone! LOL

by eb77

Yeah, a papaya with arms and legs that likes to practice using them!

by jess1of7

I've only gained a pound so I think my small belly size amplifies her movements, although i don't remember my son ever being this active. She will wake me from sleep, or startle me when I'm dozing off.. and I swear she knows when I want to sleep and starts kicking and doing her gymnastics... My son loves it he comes up and waits for her to kick, or puts his ear on my belly and claims he can hear her ... pregnancy through the eyes of a 3 year old is fascinating.

by babyangl86

i agree it seems bigger then a papaya and so many kicks

by bawilder

23 weeks is only 5 months still? I looked it up online and it said that at 22 weeks you start your 6th month...this is so confusing with the months!!

by Kristen5483

My first son was 9 lbs 9 oz when he was born. They are estimating bigger for this one...

by mtnovak1986

went to the dr today for 23 week check up and im holding a 1pound ball of fun

by j897kj

Mine moves and feels a lot bigger then a papaya.. :/ Thats ok. :)

by airmanswife2009

this is our second child, a boy. First boy was 10 lbs t birth. Now this one is so little but so uncomfortable!!!! He sits so low and I really am not digging this pregnancy. The second pregnancy is supposed to be easier!! Ugh....Ready to be done..

by bellasbee

Im just now starting to show, my doctor says that its because im so tall! :( but she does feel much bigger than 20 oz!!!! she kicks me all day long i'll bruise before long

by sherahgayleselby

maybe a papaya when she's sleeping & curled up!!

by BekknJosh

i agree i thought papaya was last week, and i think my little boy is much bigger than that!

by mnbaker_ssu

My understanding is that it is the size of a papaya until 26 weeks and then becomes the size of an eggplant.

by CamrynnsMommy

I'm really tired of my baby being compared to fruits and vegetables on every site I visit. My little girl has been a lime, a small orange, a grapefruit, a banana, a carrot, and now a papaya!! It just makes me hungry!

by Trinidyloo

i was thinkin "papayas are pretty big, could this be right?" but maybe i've just seen a lot of really big papayas.... idk...

by HCADRIEL

my baby is really kicking,bt i am so small.i look around an every women i see there are bigger than i am.

by BritTink

papaya seems to small...i get kicked and punched daily from both sides of my stomach...and im huge.... plus by ultrasound baby weighs more then 2lbs, which is about 40oz

by bullen03

All though i already had a daughter feeling this baby move is so weird, iguess they really meant that you don't remember what things feel like from another pregnancy you had before especially delivery!!!! I know that it hurts really bad but i don't remeber how bad...

by Christina1990

i feel that my baby is bigger than a papaya!

by nachavira90

What about the fruit size for twins???? I mean they can't really be both papayas, right???

by Nathaliedaniel

That cant be right>.< its="" gotta="" be="" />

by Breeanaa

your baby is approx. 11 inches long something like a spaghetti squash or a tiny doll.

by reesecossetttom

i know that this is saying i am a papaya but i really dont know cause this one moves so much i cant tell how big she really is.. but u never know everyone is different

by quindm2006

i know that this is saying i am a papaya but i really dont know cause this one moves so much i cant tell how big she really is.. but u never know everyone is different

by quindm2006

How is it the size of a papaa but its 10-11" long? Ive never seen a 10" papaya!

by VanessaRich3

Yeah!!! 23 Weeks!!! 17 to go until i meet my little girl!! Totally love being preggo... no problems thus far!!!

by kathycoe2

a papaya! hell no,not with these sort of kicks! loving the experience though :D

by pinchi

a papaya! hell no,not with these sort of kicks! loving the experience though :D

by pinchi

I was just commenting last night about how fat my ankles are lol! and no way baby is size of papaya. I agree cantalope status

by parman25

My Baby feels way bigger too She kicks pretty hard....and boy oh boy she loves to kick my bladder and she also loves to move at night!!!!!!!

by cintron32

I'm 23 weeks prego, fat, and feeling nothing. I was fat b4 getting prego and everyone says give it time you'll feel things soon. I'm worried because I was between 16 to 18 weeks prego before when the baby's heart stopped beating.) any other fat girl out there not feeling anything?

by Vanessamessenger

My baby is kicking like crazy, all of a sudden it just started about 2 weeks ago and has been booting me ever since. Lol I love it. I don't feel that big though. This is my second baby, my daughter is currently 10 months old, I was expecting to feel and look much bigger by this time just because of how close they were conceived.

by Floritism

My doc says my LO is at least 12inces long..Thats a BIG Papaya

by MandieLyn30

I agree! I feel like it's larger too!

by Nicholem83

Yes i can agree the way my baby is kicking and punching she feels more like the size of a cantelope ! lol

by mrs100wright

i'm experiencing a lot of discomfort/borderline pain in my lower back/shooting pain in my legs...already!

by bkrose75

omq ! my bby doesn't even seem that biq !

by Scottavia

omq ! my bby doesn't even seem that biq !

by Scottavia

Yeah, no kidding about the papaya thing! At least feels like a banana!

by buttercub

My little papaya has some strong leg muscles. He's been making my stomach jump!

by KLH0324

Yeah I feel way bigger than a papaya and people think that I due soon and it sucks because I still have 17 weeks!

by mrskinnett

I'm 23 weeks and like TracyCrane it feels more like gas bubbles than kicks. Maybe he's doing the backstroke? I've gained 15 pounds so far and I have a cute little bump... I would say big enough to hold a papaya. I thought maybe I was too small but the dr says I'm sized right!

by ts06jg

i am 23 weeks pregnant today!!! this is my 3rd child and he is alot different he is moving and kicking all the time. there is never a moment he is not moving , and he feels much bigger than a papaya he feels more like a watermelon... cant wait till he is here i wanna see him and let him meet his other 2 brothers they are impatient

by kendra872011

yeah I am huge for 23 weeks but I didint pick up that much weight only 7lbs so far

by Crissy0709

Whats up with the super hurt feet. Ouch. Its hard to even stand. I am ready for that to end.

by mammamac

i dont think im looking 23 weeks pregnant. But my baby sure is extremely ative she/he kicks alot, too much I'd say lol its a great feeling because it asures me everything is okay.

by Carla1792

My daughter don't sleep no where near 12-14 hours... she kicks at any given time and at night. I actually slide out the bed so I don't WAKE her because if I make to much noise in the middle of the night she wakes up and I can't get back to sleep for a few hours because she's up kicking all night. And even though this is our fourth child I'm huge yes huge.

by Windyharris35

im already 23 weeks ...and i had an ultrasound at 18 weeks but my doc wasnt sure about the gender he only said its 80% possibility of a girl but we will assure u at 26 weeks .can it b realy sure at that time or i wonder y did such happend...............................

by hanafaisal

That's crazy because I'm also 23 weeks and I feel as if I'm. 3months because of how small I am. Which makes me wonder how big my baby really is.

by mamastro16

I understand where you are coming from "madechic16". My baby constantly moves throughout the day. I am not sure about the baby actually sleeping 12-14 hours a day.

by schlegelyr

Erinannetyler, you probably conceived on or around May .20th. I know for a fact I conceived on May 5th and my due date is the 26th of February...so, that would be my best estimate

by smbryson1980

I have lost 2 lbs since I began my pregnancy. I think it's weird how some people say they have been eating a lot. I can barely sit down and eat a meal. I feel so "full". She sits on my bladder or diaphragm. So either, I have to pee all the time or I am short of breath often. And I am bigger than I was with my son, but, I think I'm pretty much the size I'm supposed t o be for 22 weeks. This has been a bit more uncomfortable of a pregnancy than that I had with a son. And I absolutely think that she is awake more than 10 hours...She moves all the time!! Very active little girl.

by smbryson1980

That just seems crazy! Lol with my first child it was believe-able but Idk with this one, I keep staying about the same then POP! I look (and feel) quite a bit farther along but my tummys solid! I just dont get it

by BCRose08

I'm 23 weeks & last week he weighed in at 1 pound 4 ounces. I've only gained between 5 & 6 pounds but I can definitely tell he is growing.

by Kristy_Young

i swear ive been so exhausted in the past week that he is packing on the pounds already! x

by babygeegee

I'm having a pain in my ribs...think it's him kicking me?

by lisaheath83

i like to see whats going on in the week ahead so im only 22 weeks but im already swelling. my wedding rings have come off (last week) and i have a new (and cheap) one for the rest of the pregnancy. this is my first and i still get the 'you dont look pregnant'... my little man seems to be growing slowly - or hes small - cause i lost 10 lbs the first 2 months of being prego and i still have 4lbs to go to get back to my first weigh in weight... so ive only gained 6lbs...? hope thats normal... :)

yeah my baby feels way bigger than a papaya too!! I don't feel my baby move around as much as I read other people do. SHould I be worried??

by jamipotter

I definitely feel way bigger than a papaya!! But I am nbot feeling my baby move around and kick near as much as I read other moms do. This is my first. Shoud I be worried?

by jamipotter

I'm having a girl, Ryan, and she kicks likes a pro. She kicked daddy in the head last weekend. I guess she heard his voice loud and clear. LOL! Best feeling in the world. She is also active when I am driving. Something tells me she is going to be a car baby.

by bsmith4225

I think they are not including the legs in the measurement. I think it's a papaya from head to rump.

by dxechick1313

for the past 3 weeks I can feel my baby move. & it does feels way bigger than a papaya.haha.

by hsutherland90

For the ladies worried about looking too small for our babies' gestational age: everyone's body chemistry is different, remember, and just as long as your OB/midwife is telling you that the baby is growing okay, don't worry about not putting on enough weight! if baby's doing fine, he/she's still getting everything he/she needs from you. i have the same thing happening to me where i tell ppl i'm almost 23wks and they don't believe me! hey, that just means less effort getting the weight off later, right? :)

by amn0809

i know what you guys mean im carring twins at23 wks im measuring 30wks

by jerseyjandj

Yea, so this is my second pregnancy and everyone keeps asking if it's twins! I am HUGE! My son is 3 and he is excited about a little brother! But with him, I wasn't nearly this big! There's no way this baby is just a papaya! Oh man it's a long way to go!

by chasmolass

Im with everyone else i feel like my lil guy is way bigger than a papaya. Im 23 wks and gained only 4lbs so far. I haven't had any sickness or anything and m still in most of my jeans but i dont figure thats gonna last long...

by alisa101

i feel my baby is bugger than he moving from left to right

by chatistee

you're all talking about how huge you are, I keep getting asked "are you sure your really over 5 months along?".. last night a lady that works in a diffrerent dept. asked me if I had lost my baby since I didn't look pregnant. I've gained maybe 20-25 pounds. not huge but still showing at least I can tellthe diffreance. maybe it's cuz right before getting pregnant I lost 45 pounds. dunno

by cynicstarr

I feel hugh, and one of my friends is way ahead of me and is also very small! i look like i am seven months, I am a full time student and i am tired all the time. I hope I make it through this semester!!

by katzz20

brettbrett - it must be from fluid too, from last week, i've noticed *gulp* sock lines in my ankles!! I've been exercising, drinking water, steering clear of excess salt & sweets...I think it really has to do w/ the baby! It doesn't help though when your husband is telling you, 'Oh honey, they have elliptical machines too as part of our association.." yeah, and if YOU were pregnant & working full time mister, perhaps you'd get a glimpse on how "fun" working out is... oye.

by LydeeC

The baby feel like a papaya but I don't look 23 weeks pregnant. My stomach is not that large. The baby has been moving but not so much as some of you ladies.. I have only gained 9.5lbs so baby that is why... I am a little swollen and very tired all the time..

by vsjroberts

I'm grateful to have only gained 8 pounds by now, and my baby girl finally had the hiccups last week!

by marmarks

I am smaller than someone should be at 23 weeks I guess and this is my second baby, but he is so active! He kicks and punches whenever he moves around. Guess he will be in karate like his older brother.

by Tcchere

I am 23 weeks today and just weighed myself 124lbs and I feel like I have a ball in my belly!! LoL I'm glad I'm not the only one that feels fairly big these days... :)

by privera1984

I think that the measurementsof a papaya are from the top of the head to the baby's bum...not taking into consideration the length of the legs... I am n the same boat as you all ...my little guy has me awake all night kicking and most of the day... they say that the baby should be sleeping 12 - 14 hours a day in there but mine is ass backwards lol... i look 7 months preggers but for me i was overweight to begin with...not huge but over weight. i cant wait to meet my little Owen

by mdcarne

i don't feel any kicks yet....just those little "flutters"

by TAMBER07

Papaya....a giant one maybe, and I am not even gaining the way I should...not for lack of trying. But this lil boy is already running out of room!

by mrsjgintz

I am officially 23 wks today. I have gained probably about 21 lbs but I sure don't look it! Not sure where all the weight is going! It definitely is not going to my hips/thighs/arms but even my tummy does not look THAT big. I feel my baby boy kick constantly and can sometimes see my tummy move as he kicks if I'm really sitting quietly & paying attention.

by natvo1983

i def don't think my baby is the size of a papaya ... everything on me feels huge!! my feet and hands are starting to swell and im getting those varicose veins ... but i cant wait till she is here ..and all this uncomfortableness goes away lol

by mommy2be0801

I feel the same way too. The way he's punting, he feels like a cantalope at least!

by draginsfire

Feels more like I swallowed a watermelon! I feel so bloated!! It's exciting though to feel her move and know that she's almost fully developed. So exciting:)

by slowe1109

Hello ladies, I am new to the site. :3 I just got my ultra sound not to long ago :D I decided not to find out what my little papaya was so I'm waiting till they are born to see ^-^ I was told by my first doctor that I was four days behind after the ultrasound this Monday I was told that I was actually one week ahead with 3 days not enough to change the day of my birth but it was still exiting to know I was farther along then we first thought. Soooo exited :D

by Ayaka34

Thank God, my belly is medium and I feel great!!!

by wilheminaotu

Thank God, my belly is medium and I feel great!!!

by wilheminaotu

I dont see how my baby can be as big as a papaya. He doesnt feel that big. Unless he's bigger

by cbishop85

its nice to know im not alone when im feeling huge! Its fun tho... most of the time! His daddy felt him kick for the first time the other day! soooo exciting!

by newmomma1447

Hate the stupid fruit analogies. A foot long papaya would be huge...

by Maryarachel

i feel so much better reading these posts! i was told today twice that i look further along than 23 weeks and it really upset me ! i feel better knowing that other ladies are going thru the same thing i am. and i found out that the papaya thing is for the whole month and next month is an eggplant.

by tawnalulu

I am a mother of 4 with my 5th baby on the way. I understand that in theory with each birth it is supposed to get easier...but if I hear one more time the comment(s) "this baby should just fall out" or "man all you will have to do is sneeze & he'll be here" i swear I think I'm gonna scream! I must be getting uber sensitive but I'm tired of hearing that! I have a right mind to do this all natural & in a freaking corn field just so people will shut up! lol sorry had to vent.

by becca0117

Im so happy Im finally feeling and looking prego! Everyone make sure I eat and stay healthy...(wonder whats for lunch)

by Penellopee

My baby girl feels bigger than a papaya. She is not very active but I've already gained over 20lbs. I feel like a whale. Don't know what to do to control all this weight gain. Doctors say babies size is fine for the 23 weeks which probably means most of the weight gain is mine to keep :-( well guess I have to work out hard but I'm loving my pregnancy its very different from my sons.

by mloaisiga25

our papaya is like her momma! wants to be up all night and sleep all day! only if i have had a little too much to eat does she really come alive during the day! i gotta say the only real craving i have had at this point is Coca-cola, it usually gives me a headache but what Jillian wants, she gets!! that on top of the sweet cereals has been my wierd stuff!

by bookey06

I'm 23 weeks and I haven't gained any weight yet and I am very proud of that. I'm a bigger mom and was told not to gain weight right away. I don't have a bump, still the same old fat rolls. Baby is active, but not as much as the rest of you. I hope I start getting pregnant looking soon.

by danabeckett

Why was week 23 and 24 both the size of a papaya?

by noeljl

hmm..there must be something wrong then cuz i definately don't feel like she's a papaya maybe only like an orange but that's about it.

by MadelineRussell

I haven't popped yet! I can't wait!! :)

by BabyBonde

Our triplets are no where near the size of a papaya! I wish they were bigger.

by BethB2011

my little mikey is moving so much now! i can see my belly move when he kicks me! its so amazing!

by rwalton05

I am huge and I can actually see the baby kick my stomach. It lifts my skin!!!! I'm nervous about how big this one will be. My other two were only 6lbs 6 oz. and 6lbs. 7oz.

by Elicia21

congrats to all the 23 week ladies we dont have that much longer to go til our little bundels arrive. i know my little girl is so eager to meet the world by the way she is kicking and moving so much. alot of your say that your baby feels bigger then a papaya mine does also and my tummy looks alot bigger then a that also. i guess maybe it depends on how much you eat and how big the baby really is. it does say average so who knows i just cant wait to meet her already!

by firsttimemommy81

yes mine does to it feels way bigger then a papaya but i look small lol

by Zaira123

I ahve the oppsosite problem... 23 weeks pregnant, I am 19 lbs lighter than when I found out I was pregnant, I am shriking (which is good since I am currently 190 lbs) the baby is a good size and she's VEEERY active. But if you look at me I do not look like I am pregnant at all since the baby is pretty much making up the space I lost. Infact, I havent even had to buy new clothes yet. Heh some coworkers are like "you sure your pregnant?" and then I show them the sonograph pics.

by Gibelmaria

Mine is always way over what the "average fetus weight" says on here!

by efryar1

my baby feels much larger and moves so much im only 23 wks

by fanica05

Amanda26... it's not just a girl boom.... its an over all baby boom!!! I have tons of friends pregnant now and due all within a week of eachother! Im 5 months and I remember the Doc telling me that the fruits on this websites are never acurate! LOL! and my little Ava is bouncing around like mad! I feel here but my hubby still cant tell if she is kicking or not.... However.... we have a heartbeat monitor and he can hear her moving when we listen for her heartbeat!

by Danielle6983

My baby dont feel like a papaya... but he sure does love to kick round a lot! (:

by KarlaA2011

Lionpaws2, are you going to your monthly doctor visits? I wouldn't be concerned unless they tell you that you're not gaining enough weight, especially if you were a thin person before getting pregnant. I'm about 23 weeks and can still easily hide my little bump by wearing a baggy shirt. A lot of people remark that they can't tell that I'm pregnant yet (unless I wear a snug-fitting shirt), but when the doctor palpates me or measures the baby on an ultrasound, he is as big as he should be! I wouldn't go on a fatty foods binge, but do make sure that you're getting enough calories. I think the standard is that you should get an extra 500 calories a day while pregnant (I could be off, feel free to correct me), but they should be healthy calories. An all salad diet is not much better than an all brownie diet. ;-)

by mcginnie86

Anyone else feel like weight is just "sticking" to them? I eat an apple and I weigh more! I've been really good with healthy food choices and I still gain about 1 lb per week! And I know thats not all going to the baby..... This is my 2nd baby, I havent gained nearly as much as the first pregnancy but I still feel down about the weight gain :(

by kndleena

papaya? No! soccer ball, yes! this is my 5th pregnancy & never had a baby so active as this one!? Seems like everytime I get up to do something, he gets up right along with me. I cant wait to see my son & kiss his face! :-)

by SlimGoodiek9

my baby feels bigger than a papaya. I think he is much bigger.

by carmenitar81

My baby also feels pretty bigger than that lol.. But im so happy i can fell him swirm around all day

by kstewart90

hi. i signed on to my wifes account. i just cant wait to feel it move. it is very exciting and you are all wonderful for doing this for all man kind. good luck with all your pregnancies and have many happy years with your babies. i plan to. thank you all again.

by elm50

watched my stomach move from my little boys kicks this morning! loving 23 weeks so far!!!

by galicia0327

i agree with all of you.. my baby girl seems much bigger than a papaya too ! all her kicks are so strong i can see them through my clothes at times. ive been able to feel her since 18 weeks. im loving this whole pregnancy but im kinda wanting time to fast forward so i can meet my little princess! and shes also resting on my sciatic nerve at times. makes my leg feel like its getting electricuted.. not fun!!

by brittac02

My little boy is definitely kick boxing with rocky because omg he won't let me sleep at night....not what I wanted to be honest....I would love to get sleep....

by areinert1521

I'm 24 weeks and have MS, I'm tired all the time. Any tips for an energy boost? Our Baby is great; I think he may be taking Karate classes.

by amyjolene75

Well I'm 23 weeks but according to my OB I have only gained 5 pounds the entire pregnancy..but it sure doesn't look that way people. Are already asking me when I am due.

by babyleila

I feel soo big and if one more person says "Just wait till month 7, 8, 9, im going to scream.!"

by lispuerto28

im with andrea, this is my 4th and even the doc says hes measuring 2x the size he should by the placenta measurements! lol all my kids were 6lbs thankfully im a c sec only!!

by ArmyWifeForever

Oh yeah, she's dyep she's definitely bigger than a pappaya! I have a lil boy who'll be 2 Feb 1st, we were layin on the couch together n he had his head restin on my belly when she kicked n he sat n looked at me n said uh oh!! It was the cutest thing ever!

by preggo2

dI definaltely feel much bigger. I feel like i have 2 papayas in there. I do however know its only one and he has the strongest kicks. They take my breath away. This preganancy is way different from my last about 6 yrs ago. I really enjoyed it last time. This time has been a bit more tiresome and draining then the last. Feet started swelling a month ago but, I am right on track with the weight gain. I think it is the fact that last time i was working the whole time and this one i have been home. I have managed to stay on top of everything. His nursery is done and what clothes and things we have gotten are already washed. i feel acomplished but sluggish. Hope everyone has a pleasant pregnancy and GOOD LUCK!!

by pandemstar

I'll be 23 weeks in 2 days. Everyone's talking about already gaining 20+ lbs. I've only gained 8 lbs, hope I'm not the only one. I eat well and continue to exercise. My baby is definitely showing now, there's no hiding that I'm pregnant. The scary thing is, my belly seems to be growing sooo fast now and I still have 4 months to go. Excited and nervous all at once.

by MistyCope

Papayas varry in size they can be 6 to 20 in (15-50 cm) long and 4 to 8 in (10-20 cm) thick; weighing up to 20 lbs so don't think of the baby as being just the one size of papaya your used to seeing in the grocery store they get bigger than that just a helpful tip.

by nicolereiber

Wasn't he a papaya last week? This fruity business is just nuts! The doc says he's measuring a little big, but he's been consistently big throughout the pregnancy, so I just expect he'll be at least as big as my first baby (8lbs, 7oz). I am still 12 pounds down from my start weight, but my appetite is increasing.

by icethistle

i can now feel my baby quincey kick and move and wiggle..it is so amazing

by motherof35

Papayas can very in size, I think that is why they chose papaya for 3 weeks in a row :) The ones you buy in the grocery store are on the smaller side!

by fotochik76

Glad to know I'm not alone. Over the past two weeks, I feel like I've got a future soccer star in there!

by Laayla96

Weh I look in the mirror I personally feel pretty big but everyone around me say I look so tiny... can't complain I guess...

by ashtycc19

Today I'm 23 weeks and I feel huge!! At the ultrasound my lil one wasn't quite so little, he's measuring a week ahead of where he's supposed to be..so got one healthy big boy in there! lol!

by sweettattedmama11

This is my first pregnancy, and lucky enough for twins. I have gained 27 pounds, and 9 inches in my waist. My doctor says this is normal with twins. My husband got to feel the kicking for the first time 2 days ago and was very happy, he has been waiting and waiting for that.

by liz0731

on my sonogram, ma daughter looks huge lol, bigger then a papaya 4 sure lol

by DShantelou

i am almost 24 weeks and my baby feels huge and he is constantly moving!! doctor tomorrow cant wait to see how much he weighs!!

by mistierenee

She's been going nuts - I'm glad for the reminder that she's healthy, but I'd like to not be whacked every couple of minutes!

by meredithfarese

Our little one weighed in at 1 lb. 4 oz at 22 weeks. The doc called back and said the baby is in the 90th percentile - might have a football player in there after all! We're waiting to find out the sex; and we're sooooo excited!

by SweetBabyP

How much weight has everyone gained? I feel huge. Im 23 weeks wen and gainrd 9lbs. I was 145 to start out with tho and 5'6.

by Ashbug2004

I haven't felt a kick yet that I know of, and it makes me nervous. This is my first pregnancy, and I do not know if I will even recognize when the baby kicks.

by ard004

During my 1st pregnancy at 27, I lost 30 lbs while being pregnant. Now, 13 years later at age 39, I have lost 4 pounds at 23 weeks. I eat all day, mostly yogurt, fruit and cereal. I can't eat chicken or fish...they both gross me out. My meals HAVE to be small, I can't eat very much in one sitting, I feel like I've eaten a whole Thanksgiving dinner otherwise. People still don't know that I'm preggers by looking at me. My prepregnancy pants still fit although they no longer fit comfortably. My belly seems to SWELL in the evenings, but then goes back down by morning...wierd? My lil one is kicking all day, but seems to being doing zumba around 10pm every night. I have a feeling that I'm going to have a lil night-owl on my hands. My first pregnancy left me feeling queasy all day long, I'm having fun with this one!

by KarynLynn71

my baby is kickin like crazzyyy...feels like a ufc fighter on red bull.

by Shelly8877

I swear my a baby boy has Karate, soccer, footbal practice inside. Maybe my stomach is too small for him. Every three hours he makes sure his mommy eats or else.. My hubby can not only feel the kicks you can see them outside my stomach. It's amazing and sometimes quite uncomfortable or makes me jump.

by brownshuga1432

I am 23 weeks and I aint even swollen yet

by treacle1993

The papayas I saw at the store yesterday were HUGE!!!!! He can't be that big!

by flamingoh

This baby has GOT to be bigger than a Papaya. I'm the same size I was at 8 months with my first! Lol.

by Eiskonigin

At 23 weeks I've already put on 20 pounds & haven't changed my diet. The last month I seem to be putting on 2 lbs a week! I've always been thin & watch what I eat. I'm hoping this is healthy & normal. I'm already uncomfortable with 4 months to go!

by JennBenJo

all I know is that my hands are SOOO swollen i can barely close them and my ankles are begining to look like elephant feet. Something has to give... :( But I <3 my="" lil="" princess="" growing="" in="" me.="" i="" cant="" wait="" to="" have="" my="" normal="" body="">

by BabyConlon2011

Emma is still sitting very low... and I am not as big as I was with my son... but she is active, hope everything is okay in there...

by 1PRDMMA

my lil guy is definitely a papaya. I am super tiny and this being my first I'm dying to show. It's been a struggle dealing with peoples comments about how I should eat more. I am exercising regularly and keeping a balanced diet making only good healthy choices. Good luck ladies!!!

by 24dive

My baby girl is kicking and punching like crazy too! Thought she might be following in my footsteps since I taught kickboxing for 8 years, lol! I can't beleive my tummy is this big and she's only the size of a papaya? Really?

by MJ723

My baby feels like he is going to bust through my stomach. I dont have stretch marks but my belly is tearing and is itchy. It has little blood spots.. maybe from itching the tight skin? I look huge too!

by nacky112003

Baby is moving so much I think it is more like a mini karate machine

by Sevenlove

I'm certain Noah is bigger than a papaya. He's been bigger than expected every ultrasound. His kicks are so strong my husband can feel them now. He was in awe :) For those having back pains: I strongly suggest a chiropractor. Most insurances cover them, just make sure they know how to adjust a preggo woman. Has anyone swelled up? I keep waiting for it, but my wedding ring is sliding off my finger and my shoes still fit...

by MjgroominKazoo

You guys are too funny! I'm so glad to hear other people going through the same thing because man does he kick... and more so when there's more people in the room especially daddy.

by Meg015

yes my baby does feel bigger then a papaya !!! but i love her so much ...

by joanna cabral

Went in yesterday and all looked great!! I gained 7 lbs this last month!! My total weight gain is 13 lbs, but I feel like I have gained twice that amount. My husband and I are fighting over who our little mister will look like. It is wonderful!!

by Tephi32

IM not showing yet is this a bad thing???I can feel her moving but i dont look pregnant

by AlyshaBrimer

i feel like he grown so much inside me he moves so much man cnt wait till july 17

by alieliizzy

well guess what ladies I'm expecting twin girls and I look like I have swallowed two watermelons so it's hard to believe that they are the size of a papaya LOL

by fabmom007

If baby is this size, I guess it's about time my belly finally popped. I was barely showing until 3 weeks ago. I just hope the baby isn't going to be huge when it arrives! Hello hip pain and swollen feet!

by BoxerMomma24

I know, my gosh. I keep getting asked if I'm having twins lol cuz I'm all tummy ^_^ lol

by michellehouben1664

wow i can not believe that this is my 7th child that i am having and i know wow too, but its a boy and my only daughter who is 12 wanted me to have a little girl but it is another boy shocker.

by jakiasnipes

It feels like she is bigger than that and definitely have the belly going on. But I also realize that the top of the uterus is larger than she is and other things are kinda moving around to make room for her. This is my first and I'm just getting to where I feel the strong flutters and definitely some kicks. Savannah is definitely there. Can't wait til she is here!!!

by palmettogal73

richtoy- I had a CVS. It depends on age and if there are any genetic defects in family history or if you are in higher risks group. I would ask your OB if you are that concerned about it. A amnio is always an option. I know some people don't like having a CVS done because of the slight risk but it was worth it to me. I had a great doctor do it and it didn't hurt but was just uncomfortable because they had me drink til I thought my bladder was going to blow. Another option too may be a level 2 ultrasound. It does give a much more in depth picture of your little one. I did have a blood test for down sydrome which came back positive. Come to find out it was on 30% accurate and was proved wrong by the CVS anyways. So I had a false positive blood test.

by palmettogal73

PS - guys I learned something from the neurologist. I have some problems with headaches was referred to him. I found out that Fioricet - frequently given by OB's for headaches- has Butalbital (a barbiturate) in it an given enough in pregnancy can decrease a child's IQ up to 30 points. He said he hated it for pregnancy. Just an FYI that felt obligated to pass on.

by palmettogal73

SamanthaS31 you're right. Last week, 22 weeks, baby was also the size of a papaya... how can that be?

by bdsbride

Well my Papaya's kick's fill like cartwheels!!!

by hab2011

I cant say really. Every one says where to me. I was told if I would have kept my big mouth shut nobody would never know. I do get a lot of movement. I just look like I am about three months.

by desireeharden88

I am 23 weeks today and still don't really feel my baby move

by libract

I agree with you kpthompson, he kicks a lot. Im not big at all but I eat all day. i look like im 3 and 1/2 months. My family said I would show around 4 months its a little something but not how old pictures are. i want my stomach lol!!!

by princerylei

yeah papaya.. Hmmm then why the hells my belly so big haha doesnt seem correct .

by kristy805

I can feel little movements...not alot due to having a anterior placenta, but At 23 weeks Definately showing!

Our baby Olivia kicks all the time, it's like she hardly sleeps! My husband finally felt her kick for the first time, it was so awesome to see the look on his face when it happened, priceless! Everyone tells me I'm tiny for 5 1/2 months but she definitely feels like a punching papaya that's for sure!

by Pradakiss22

a papaya is def an understatement...I feel and look much bigger than people guess...maybe its just a whole lot of gas....! lol!

by lelle28

Question ladies am I the only one that hates total strangers groping my belly? I know I look bigger than five months, but my belly isn't public property. How do I address this with out seeming extremely rude.

by phatcat399

Yeah everything I read says they are about a pound now, but my ultra sound measured her at 1lb 15 oz and that was at 21 weeks! However she only kicks around on my insides- she never really kicks the front of my stomach or anything so my husband can't see or feel it-- am I the only one? when will this happen?

by mmascardo

My boyfriend felt our little boy at 21 weeks. He felt the flutter/kick. He only can feel it in my way lower abdominal region, but we both were very excited. Now he wants to kick my bladder more than anything. As for the Baby Mush brain... its getting worse. I think I need to learn to think before I speak now... lol

I have had terrible indigestion the last two days! Anyone else developing this yet?

by Heather Allen

does anyone else feel extreme discomfort like really bad gas pains? doc says it may be the baby dancing on my fibroid, or stretching belly or baby kicking? all i know is the 2nd trimester bliss is officially over for me one week early...boo, hoo. we're ready to see the baby...wish pregnancy only lasted 24 weeks!

by cami324

how come we don't change fruits for a while? Seems like the papaya stage lasts for a long time!

my eva is only 19 weeks and shes already 11 oz! this site says she supposed to be 6.7!

by hollyanncox

This update is funny and coincidental! I was just at the grocery yesterday in the fruit section. There were cantelope right next to papaya, and I thought how I never knew papaya were almost as big as a cantelope. I thought they were the size of a mango, but NO, they're actually pretty big. Maybe a better comparison would be a 12oz bag a peas or a large panini sandwich....Man I'm hungry...is it time for lunch yet?

by hemmerkl

I have to agree I feel like a canteloupe is inside @23 weeks

by navarromj

this is my first baby and im huge already at 23 wks. I'm a full time student and not looking forward to classes this summer!!!

by mrsratcliff2011

She definately feels bigger than a Papaya.. Gosh those kicks are getting harder and more frequent.. I love it though..

by Mauihawaii1986

so im having alot of pain and im not sure if its normal. My pelvic bone area is hurting so bad standing up from a seated position is the worse. To make it worse i am on my feet at work. Also my low abdomen hurts almost like i can barley move rolling over in bed or getting up from laying down is almost impossible. Im only 23 weeks. HEEEEELP

every woman is different and every pregnancy is different. I think we all just need to stop worrying if we're too big or too small. If the dr. or midwife isn't concerned, neither should we! I hate how people say things about being so huge or too small, etc. it just causes us to be self-conscience or to worry....let's just enjoy being pregnant and how we look and forget all of their dumb comments!!!

by kocianjenn

My daughter is very active. My son didn't feel this active at 23 weeks. I guess it is true that every pregnancy is different. Is anyone else experiencing this?

by aconerly83

I agree my baby feels and appeared to be on the sonogram larger than the papaya. At 20w, 6 days the baby was about 9in and already 1 lb. Granted my belly looks way bigger than it would if I was carrying a papaya. But it does feel like a papaya is resting DIRECTLY on my bladder!!! But I wouldnt change any of it.

by Ander0714

MEE TOO! She feels like a honey dew melon... (;

by wifey68

Yea my little monkey feels bigger...Im sure she is. Plus I havent seen too many 12 in papayas! This is my second and I feel so much bigger! My first was only 4lbs 10oz and I still got big at the end (gaining 22lbs). If this is a "normal" pregnancy..good lord! Roll me to the delivery room!

by FrederickMDMom

Ladies dont worry if you dont look "the right size" focus on whhat you eat ie: quality and frequency. Your doc will let you know if there is any baby weight gaining issues. I started out over weight and lost weight the first 4 months(morning sickness). I still ate normally but now i ham focusing on eating frequently in small healthy choices. My first child people were asking if i was having twins- he was 7llb. 11oz.!!

by Christian100307

so glad everyone feels big here too!!! i was on another site, and people are complaining they are 24 weeks and haven't started to show!!! i felt like something was wrong with me!

by JMNandDKR

Hmm... the papayas here in TX are huge... so... not liking the comparisons lol..

by celena26

Everybody: im pretty sure the length measurement that they are comparing to a papaya is the crown to rump length..so it is not accounting for your baby's legs..and a normal papaya is probably a little over a pound..just like all your babies.

by taylorme

This is my first pregnancy, hubby and I are SO excited! We didn't find out what we're having, so it makes things a little harder but can't wait til baby comes! Definitely feels like a cantaloupe more than a papaya. I feel the baby move all of the time, but never hard jabs or kicks, just feels like he/she is doing a slow dance in there! When I try to feel from the outside, baby stops. :( Is that normal?

by jennerh11

Baby Riley Rae is ALWAYS kicking Mama! I'm feeling big, and must be looking it, everyone keeps asking if I'm having twins! Already gained over 10lbs

by LMD21

This is my 3rd. I havent gained any weight at all. Ive actually lost 5 pounds, but have the "belly." everyone is diffrent. Just eat normal and exercise!!!!!

by micolephilman

My baby is extremely active i hope this is not what she is going to be like when she is born. I swear she never sleeps...lol

by Nicoleluvinlife0815

I 've gained back 2 of the 10 lbs I lost the first 2 wks... So I find it really hard to believe "olive" could be that big!

by itzmeturtle

BTW you're all lucky I barely feel anything moving around... I wish I would , most days I don't even feel preg. If it was'nt for the missing "aunt flow" I could be on " I didn't know I was Preg" show!

by itzmeturtle

I'm so glad I'm not the only one. I feel like a blown up sausage, and my ankles were so swollen over the weekend that they disappeared! Thanks for sharing your comments, ladies, because it's nice to hear others relating!

by Kristyne13

so not related to this but... y havent there been any contests or anything since last year?? anyone else notice that?

by cburnside21

Hey Ladies!!!! I'm almost 24 weeks pregnant with my first baby!!! It's a girl!!!! While I've been excited about the pregnancy...I've been worried about the fact that I'm not "showing" as much as the other mothers. Today I went to my check-up and I found out that our little princess is sitting towards mty back. Thus the reason for my back pain, sciatica, and butt pain!!!!! Go figure!!!!

by perry06218

She has to be big then a papaya an I guess I eat to much to cause I am also huge lol

by KaraLavon92

I've gained 10lbs so far and people are approaching me asking if Im carrying twins and assuming I am a lot further in my pregnancy than 23 weeks.... I was a healthy 115lbs at 5'3 before pregnancy and am now 125lbs so I just dont get all of the comments!!! Dont worry ladies... I think theyre all just jealous :)

Lionpaws: If your dr. isn't worries, I wouldn't be, either. This is my 2nd, and with both, my belly sticks out more some days than others, depending on how the baby is turning. I also seem to be carrying this one "deeper" than my last one - my belly sticks out less and the kicks and movements are mostly felt on the inside, not against the outside wall of my uterus where my husband and son could feel them!

I'm pretty sure my boy is bigger than a papaya and he's very active...kicking me right now actually. I'm not showing much and I haven't gained anything. My waist was 36in and my butt was 56in (yes I'm plus sized)...however today...my waist is 39 3/4in and my butt is 50in...and my jeans and shirts still fit just fine. I joke with my pregnant friend that the fat from my butt is being converted into baby instead, lol

by sweet_lilly_luna@yahoo.com

I'm 23 weeks as of yesterday with my second (more than likely a girl) I find out for sure on Thursday. This baby is very much bigger than a papaya! Though I have to say, my first was much more active than this one is! Oh, but I'm so much bigger than I was with him! I feel llike a whale!

by tmcquirt

is my second baby but this feel much bigger

by chary213

I'm glad I'm not the only one that feels huge all of the sudden. I am amazed by the tiny little jabs and kicks! Feels like someone jumping on a trampoline...that would be my bladder.

by deannefnp

a papaya lol wow its crazy how something so small can make you look so big and feel so sick!!!

by renuka123

feels just about right. I feel too small actually.

by stefalef

Is anyone else not Feel baby kick everyday?? Sometimes I feel her and others no?? But at my ultrasound 3 weeks ago she was kicking up a storm and I didn't feel anything .....

by bedazzled101

My stomach hasnt harden at 23 weeks and i lost weight since ive been pregnant . Is this ok ?

by ladyred85

23 weeks and loving it. the headaches are still strong though... have been drinking 1/2- 1 cup od coffee a day and it has worked, until now. total weight gain so far 16 lbs. Im pleased with that. My baby girl is a mover and so far i love it. I actually cant wait fr her kicks to be even stronger!

by leahnb

isnt 23 wks 6 months ???

by TruN

I spent last week in the hospital and the day I came home they said my baby boy is less then 1 pound. They said not to worry but that seems really small for 23 weeks so I'm still kinda worried.

by misti-lynn

Keep in mind these measurements are average. Every baby is unique. My boys were both ten pounds each and I was told at 5 months that I wouldn't be able to deliver naturally. So mine is I'm sure larger than a papaya already.

by krogerson1

my baby feel's bigger too.... he doesn't feel lil like a papaya....

by Defnote

My baby boy was over a pound 3 weeks ago. He is much larger than a papaya! I am afraid that I am giving birth to a toddler! LOL

by PixiePam

I recently found out boyfriend is cheating on me via dating sites and through texts. I am a very high risk pregnancy and can't work right now. Any suggestions? I have no other place to go.

by lsutherland1369

Wow 23 weeks and I feel like I'm having twins but the ultrasound only showed us one little girl. So I have gained 21 lbs and really haven't been eating anymore than normal, Just saw my Ob yesterday and she didn't say anything, just wants me to drink lots of water. Good luck to all of you! 4more months!

by shorty1905

i AM SO ready for Nov. 4th to get here......so ready to see my baby. Does time slow down in the 2nd tri?

by JAIDEN MOM

only a papaya??? geez...im HUGE!!! lol

by BriParker09

I started at 108 pounds and now weigh 127!! This little boy is getting so big, kicking hard, and people have asked if I'm close to my due date. Nope! So far the weight hasn't reached anywhere but my belly, so I'm grateful for that! I hope I don't give birth to a 16-pounder like that one lady! :)

by PaigeLR

Our baby is super active and kicks all the time. We have seen my belly moving a bunch and it never gets old :) It seems stronger if I eat or drink something warm. Love my little papaya!

by snowgirl0429

I am having twins and they feel way bigger than a Papaya. Plus, i think they are fighting in there because there's a lot of movement going on

by njo1180

Im barely just starting to show this time around. With my first I was showing and fat by now. Im eating in moderation whereas last time I ate everything in sight. I think my total weight gain so far is 10 ish pounds

by kristensabourin

I am 23 weeks pregnant and she's kicking me all the time. Her little feet can reach my ribs now unfortunately and she's even had the hiccups a few times haha. I can't wait til November when I get to meet her :). I've only gained about 4 pounds and I'm wondering if that's normal? Shouldn't I have gained like ten by now? lol

by whatawaytogoout

at 20 weeks our little guy was 11 inches long already ... plus i dont have bump. you cant even tell im pregnant. i just feel bloated all the time.

by shellcsmith

I'm not sure on the exact size of Carter at the moment, but what I do know is that @ my appointment in June, when I was 19 weeks, he was 11.5 inches and 11.5 oz. I'm pretty sure that's bigger than papaya and that was 4 weeks ago. When I go next week, I'll see how big he is now! I agree, his kicks feel more like he's the size of a basketball!!

by CartersMommy11

Also bigger than a papaya over here! Baby girl is kicking a lot, specially at night. I also feel some tenderness around my belly button and I'm trying to keep my mouth shot to junk food and sweets but I crave them way too much... I was not this big with my first son for sure!

by tanakjen

I feel the same way people ask if I'm not having twins ... with 23wks the baby doesn't feel like the size of a papaya she sure feels bigger ...

by burgos

I stood next to a girl who is due 6 days later than me and I was 3 times bigger than her...and everyone I talk to says I look big for 23 weeks. I know I shouldn't let it bother me, but it's kind of hard not to...=/

by danellia15

Briannamya, my belly button hurts too! Anyone know if this is fairly normal?

by Sniders08

hey, i've expecting two little girls. Now papaya's or not, they continuously move around kicking me... my bump isn't very big, although i've but on 388oz is that normal for 22 weeks??

by stefanialipoma

23 weeks and only gained 4 pounds. Good so far I guess. Everything is fine, except this stranger keeps kicking me when I'm trying to teach at work!

by Blondathon

Well i know that my little girl feels like she is wayyy bigger to i am pretty big and sadly i know im only going to get bigger and more uncomfortable lol but you also have to remember that most of your baby belly isn't fat so the fact that you feel huge isn't because of eating its all the fluid and the fact that the baby moves freely now and that you can feel it makes you feel even bigger

by Mrsvalerio2011

Papaya... OK! but the baby is suppose to be about 11 inches long. Every 1 thinks i'm due tomorrow but Im due Dec 8

by MsSheena2U

My belly finally popped out this week. I feel like it doubled in one day. People can finally tell that I am pregnant, not just gaining weight.

by kamelse

Baby may only be about the size of a papaya, but your uterus is much bigger than that (it's got to be large enough to hold that little papaya and still have enough room inside for him/her to wiggle around). So for those of you who feel your belly is much larger, it probably is! :) Keep in mind too, ladies, that all of this is "average". Those of you who are taller or curvier to begin with may not show as much, whereas shorter or leaner people (or if you're not on your first baby) will show much more and much earlier. Someone mentioned 'keeping up with the Joneses' but I say, don't worry about it! As long as your OB says you're progressing normally, then you've got nothing to worry about :)

by peixe84

I've never seen a papaya that was 11 inches long!

by stjobeth

How foten do you feel your baby moving during the day?

by rebby0315

How foten do you feel your baby moving during the day?

by rebby0315

I agree - feels bigger than a papaya and is non-stop with the kicking :) Day and night...most amazing little feeling

by corbin11

he feels bigger to me too. but guess not. he's been measuring perfectly on target. but it's those pounds he's packing on i'm worried about.

by DefoWedding

I have to agree! I feel huge.. but this is my second baby in the past year! eeekkk.

by jennto2001

I feel fairly lucky. I have gained 18 pounds and have eaten whatever i have wanted, not exercised, not had alot of sickness, have a VERY active little one who is starting to fall into sleep cycles and thank god since i work midnights! I was heavier to begin with but my god did i get a belly quick! Although i have a friend who is about three weeks behind me and shes only got a baby bumb like i did when i was about three weeks pregnant! shes a little worried but i reassured her it will come with time. kind of dissapointed at the second week in a row papaya thing. oh well. kinda creepy that they didnt have nipples before now!

by Acorneau

I'm 3 pounds underweight and measuring 2 cm bigger than normal! HA! 2nd child.

by BabyDavis2

I've got two a brewing and they feel ginormous...but my first two were huge, 8.5lbs and 10lbs 2oz D: these two scare me

by stephabellamares

Finally have stomach! : ) Come uppppp.

by Jasfuentes

Feels more like a small watermelon to me for being 23weeks. She is already packing a pretty mean punch LOL. Even my mom was saying "Aubri has to be way bigger then a papaya!" =p

by amandamcdwll2012

I DONT KNOW ABOUT THE SIZE OF A PAPAYA, LOL. HE SURE KEEPS ME AWAKE AT NIGHT NOW. HE KICKS & MOVES MORE THAN ANYTHING...DONT GET ME WRONG I LOVE THE FEELING OF HIM MOVING, BUT WHEN CAN I SLEEP??!

by SCMRS803

I feel like I am so much bigger now, I don't feel like my baby is the size of a papaya. He seems like he is a lot bigger than that.

by eoh2009

I have gained about 7lbs. so far and my baby only kicks for a little bit in the evening.

by kayla_rae20

by moomoo18

Is anyone having hip pain at 23 weeks? I've had it for the past few weeks and sometimes I can hardly walk. How do you deal with this?

by amandatdjohnstone

I'm small too. People don't believe I'm 23 weeks, but baby is growing as she should so that's all that should really matter. Healthy baby=happy mommy!

by twig122

Im just recently 23 weeks and I have to agree, this baby feels bigger than a papaya, lol Anyone else out there struggling with wieght gain? I know its healthy wieght but I still feel huge.

by shawntara

they dropped the ball this week, no papaya for me here. have they seen a papaya lol they are tiny!

by saundersrt781

why do they compare the baby to food? don't they realize I'm already eating like a pig. last thing i need is another craving! haha

by BriannaEG9

Feel like im going to POP and I cannot breath. I grew up hearing that it gets easier with each pregnancy. The truth to me is each one is so different and gives you a different memory to remember. And it gets TOUGHER on MY body not easier! Everyone is different though =-).

by MissBrandiJo

@ andreavbtz24, i feel the same way lol.All i do know is that the kicks are getting harder by the day.I love the feeling of them though i just sit with my hand on my belly waiting on the kicks to come.Im soooooo ready for March 14 to come so i can meet my little princess '-'

HI ladies, it seems we have a fruit dilemma, i feel like my baby girl is a watermelon already! and I keep getting told that i am only gonna get bigger. so far i've gained 20 lbs. I too have been getting back pain, but i read somewhere that a shoe with a 1 inch-ish heel does the trick and it really did! i live in these shoes that i just got now and i feel tons better. Also what worked is butt squeezes in standing, really took the pressure off.

I don't think a papaya can kick up under my freaking ribs already! I mean my boy seems really long and big for a papaya! Is this papaya on steroids or what? lol

by 3rdChildsACharm

Everyone shows differently. A person who has a uterus that is tilted forward shows differently then one who's tipped backward. I'm expecting twin girls in April, and look as big as I did full-term with my first daughter, so I'm obviously bigger than I was with her. But I don't think I would have shown quicker if it was a singleton pregnancy.....it just depends, in all honesty.

by jessicahinchey

I feel huge as well -- Im growing fast or eating way too much -- one of those two ! Well I'm jealous of you ladies that say your baby is kicking like crazy because Im at 23 weeks and I just feel light movements. But I guess it's better than a soccer kick to the ribs! ha. Maybe a off due date?
