Your Pregnancy: Week 21

Gasp...is that a stretch mark?!! Take deep breaths and remember -- they'll fade after delivery. Your skin may also feel dry and itchy, especially over your emerging bump. Take a cue from your fetus, now coated by vernix (a milky, protective cream), and slather on the lotion.

> Can you get more maternity leave?

Baby's now the size of a banana!
Baby's digestive system is busy creating meconium (a tarry black substance made of swallowed amniotic fluid, digestive secretion, and dead cells), which will fill the first diaper after birth. And, if baby is a girl, her womb is now stocked up with her lifetime supply of six million eggs (the number will drop to around one million by birth).

To-do:
> Begin thinking about a baby shower
> Start considering name possibilities
> Go to your checklist

[ tip ] Stock up on smart sweets like fruit sorbet, yogurt-covered pretzels, trail mix, jam, and smoothies -- all great options when the junk cravings start.

> Chat with other moms-to-be who share your due date

im 21 weeks and i feel my abdomin area really heavy, should i be concern or is it normal???

by mrrios09

I'm starting to feel heaviness there, too. My mom said that it is just my center of gravity shifting. I assume she is probably right.

by Todd&Laura

Im 21week and he is on my bladder all the time. Very low as well!

by mluttrell

I am 22 weeks and going to begin my registry soon. I will be breastfeeding. This question is for all of you new or repeat moms. What is a MUST have item that you would not want to go without when your little one is finally here? Breastfeeding or non breastfeeding related. Just anything that has been most helpful for you and baby.

by AGSkelton

my belly looks waaaaaay too tiny to have a whole banana in there lol!!! I feel huge but when ever i see pics of someone else around the same weeks as me they are way bigger. anyone else got tiny bellies? o but my uterus has always measured big

by Miss Dani_Elle

Miss Dani_Elle, I'm also getting several comments about how "small" I look for being 21 weeks. I have gained a total of 5lbs so far. From what I understand everbody develops differently... just wait a month and I'm sure we will start to catch up :) I'm just ready to be over this chubby phase - I can't wait to actually start looking pregnant!

by caracampbell

I'm having whole area abdominal pain. Is it gas or stretching? I checked the doppler and I'm pretty sure what I'm hearing is her HB, but i'm still concerned. Anyone else?

by wheelwinner2609

Hi moms to be. I'm 21wks today 10-4-09 due 02-15-2010. My baby girl has been active since 11wks. This is my 2nd pregnancy but 8yrs later. Big brother is excited to c his sister in the coming months.

by Mommyx's2

Miss Dani Elle, I feel the same way! I 'feel' huge, and my pants certainly don't fit, but when I see people and tell them how far along, they make comments that I should be bigger. I talked to my midwife and she assured me that I'm normal and because this is my first child that I might not show as much as others. So...I guess we're normal! :0)

by knm4eva05

My belly looks like it has a bunch of bananas in it. I feel like it's really big, but maybe it's just me. Thankfully, I can still wear my pre-pregnancy pants with a belly belt.

by angelcheex

AGSkelton:I'm 21 weeks with my 3rd child. If you are going to BF, you will want plenty of nursing pads. I liked the Lansinoh brand personally, but there are so many kinds out you will just have to try a couple brands and see for yourself. I also bought a Moses basket and used it daily with both of my other children. I also found a monitor with 2 receivers was a must. I also made sure I had at least one extra pack of diapers on hand all of the time. Nothing worse than getting low and having to make a special trip to the store. Hope this helps! And congratulations!

by james_tasha@yahoo.com

I'm 21 weeks and started out as a healthy size 6, 5'4", 138 lbs. fit 28 year old, and I've already packed on 18 pounds!!! I'm not a junk food person. I eat really healthy (lots of carrot sticks, yogurt, edemane, grilled chicken, etc...) I used to go to the gym all the time, but have been in the middle of a house remodel so I don't make it there anymore, but I'm on my feet 7 hours a day teaching middle schoolers! Is anybody out there similar to me and is still putting on this much weight? I'm sure I'm going to reach 40 pounds!

by nthornhi

If you are going to breastfeed it is a must that you have a cover up for public eatings, a boppy for at home comfort, it will save your back like no other... if your planning on going back to work start to research pumps, they are a life saver if you are going to be away from your little one for any lenght of time... if you go to babies r us they will have a great little book for you to look through that breaks everything down for you and their most popular registry items... just look around and register for everything that you find and want... have fun!!!!! and congrats!!!!

by Michaela May

21 weeks today...went for my ultrasound a week ago and found out we finally have our girl! Thank goodness since this is our last try. AG...I LOVE my boppy!! Really helps keep the strain off your back while breastfeeding. Miss Dani...I have to agree that it doesn't look like a banana would fit in my belly!! I ran into a girl I know last week who is also 21 wks and she looks like I did at 8 months with my last baby! I don't even look pregnant!

by shawna47960

I was concerned with the dull pain I was experiencing in my lower abdominal muscles from the heaviness. I asked my birthing class instructor (who is also a doula) about it and she explained that it is from the streching of ligaments. I did some prenatal yoga and have felt a lot better since then. IIt seemed to gie me an overall tightening which has heped to supprt the extra weight.

by lindseycartes

Yeap....my belly keeps growing like crazy every day! It is so cool to feel the baby moving every day...sense of "peace" that everything is ok! We're soooo excited!

by jennielopez

I have pain around my lower pelvis area. Anyone else. Especially if i get up to walk after sitting for a while.

by VenomTip

I'm 21 weeks and still haven't gained back hardly any of the weight I lost from my 1st trimester sickness. Normal?

by Mrshunt2

Does anyone know anything about, placental Chorioangioma?

by britt01234

VenomTip: I've been having the same feeling of like pressure on my pelvis whenever I shift positions quickly or even sometimes when I'm just sitting there and it last for maybe a minute then goes away as if the baby were turning or something. I asked my OB about it at my 20wk visit and she said its just the baby moving around. Also i've only been feeling light little kicks or flutters a couple times a day for like a month now. When is the real action going to start?

by Mickie_macc

Im 21 week old, my baby is very low, can not wait until found out if it boy or girl

by Gloria003

AGSkelton- my MUST HAVE items were: The Happiest Baby on the Block (best book ever), Baby 411 (another amazing book), and The Miracle swaddle (at least 3 swaddles, since they're spit up on, etc). I also would register for lots of diapers, and a nursing cover if they have them. . .

by brigem36

I'm 21 weeks today and my belly doesn't even look like im 5 months. I look at everyone else thats pregnant around the same months and they look like they're carrying twins. Me it looks like nothing.

by sweetextacy22

AG Skelton....I am having my second baby in April. My first baby is almost 15 years old! I breast fed with him. A lot has changed since then, and from what I hear, the Boppy pillow is all the rage. I just did my registry this weekend and I asked for one of those. A Boppy is a pillow shaped in a half circle that fits around your waist. The baby lays on top of it. I'm thinking this is a good invention...regardless of if you are breast of bottle feeding!

by shawnisuter

it's fine to feel that heaviness. Right now our babies are moving under our belly buttons rather than being on one side. Now they are too big to fit on just one side!

by mamacam

My little banana won't cooperate with the ultrasound! Grr! But I love feeling the little kicks! My uterus feels like it weighs a ton as well...it's from all the stretching...

by melaniew4

AGSkelton: I breastfed my son, too and LOVED the Lanisoh products: breastpads, breastmilk storage bags, etc. I'm 21 wks now with my 2nd and I definitely plan on nursing and using these products again. Also, my must-have product that I used constantly was my travel diaper changing pad. I can't remember who it was by (I registered for it at Target), but they're everywhere. It folded out and had a storage area for wipes. It was great to use it wherever I went - especially on the diaper changing stations in public places. Good luck!

by Qlove6

I'm just 21 weeks in my first pregnancy and I'm feeling the baby kicking like CRAZY. I can even see it kick through my skin! Is this normal? Does anyone know if there is something I might be doing that could contribute to the frequent kicking?

by socalichick3

i have a tiny belly too dont worry. i look at my best friend who is 22 weeks and she is almost double the size... as long as the doc says your weight is ok, then i wouldnt worry

by epillman

I’m 21 weeks also, and have the exact same feeling of heaviness! I asked my dr and he said it is normal! Especially for first time mommies! It does feel like he is lying right on top of my bladder!!

by jennygrandi

MISS DANI ELLE- Same here. Im 21 weeks and you can't even tell I am pregnant unless I have on a tight shirt. In fact I was at the doctors two days ago and the doctor aloud said "your 21 weeks right?" i responded yes. Another women in the waiting room then re-asked me. I was worried about it in the beginging too. As long as baby is measuring and weighing what he/she should, then your alright. PLUS ITS STILL EARLY... Hahaha I anticipate blowing up.

by skychild14

I am also 21 weeks pregnant with my first, and I also had the lower abdomin pain, more like a pulling feeling. I talked to my OB about it and he said that it is ligiment pain. They stretch and re-attach in the vaginal area to support the growing belly!

by amandac26

Yes my tummy feels like it weighs 200lbs all by itself. so after a while i'm extremely tired.

by BrandyMartin0610

I'm 21 weeks today and I feel the heaviness too. I'm glad I'm not the only one as I thought something was wrong like maybe I strained something down there. Whew! and yes, I'm getting up between 2 and 3 x's a night to pee...it's so annoying! :)

by mccannep

When I sleep on my sides my hands fall asleep! I have numb hands every time I wake up in the night and in the morning...wierd.

by FirstTimeMommy2010

Had our ultrasound today...all we got to see was a cute little butt the tech said she saw NO girl or boy parts...little bummed little not...bummed for other reason though...measuring at 21wks 3days in stead of 20 and 3 days....

by Brletich04

Yup, I feel heavy too. I think it's normal. Though, I've been having MAJOR lower back pains, especially in the early to late afternoons. I think it might be because I'm so small and that extra 10-12 lbs that I've put on the tummy area only is causing the break in the back. The best cure that I've found for that is lie flat on your back for 15 minutes. I'm 5'3 and my pre-prego weight was 113 -115lbs. You can't even tell I'm pregnant unless I'm wearing a tight top and you're looking at me sideways.

by kimyang

The last 2 days the baby has been very active, but today, nothing. Makes me nervous.

by DebUJ

AGSkelton...I would wait on buying a really expensive pump until after the baby comes. I made the mistake of doing that and was not able to do it despite how bad I really wanted to :( It could be medical reasons or that the baby just doesnt want to. Goodluck with BF though...I really hope I can do it this time! Other than that Burp Clothes, a swing, bouncer, pacifiers, mittens, onesies, bottle warmers...avent or gerber bottles with the wide nipples are good with breastfeeding to avoid nipple confusion, boppy pillows are great! there are a ton of things that are useful! lol if you want i could look at your registry to see if your missing anything :) Cool mist humidifiers are good too

by jennyroth3

Miss Dani_Elle I have a huge belly! lol but ive also had 2 babies prior to this one. its normal to have a little belly expecially if you are little to begin with. most people that are tiny really start to pop around 6 m onths

by jennyroth3

my abdomin feels the same I would say it is gravity shifting ... moms know

by Tlongwith

I love my banana and can't wait to meet you. We see you tomorrow on the sono. I'm so excited.

by hermarjeli

I am 21 wks and I have that feeling as well I thought I was the only one...

by Chantel_shanei

Just found out yesterday that my little banana is a BOY. I Wanted a little girl. But i'm already inlove with my baby Zackery

by hermarjeli

I havent had my uterus measured yet. probably will happen monday when we go in for the big U/S.....but I can believe he/she is as big as a banana...he/she takes up almost all my belly, barely have room for food half the time!

by Snugglez

If you are going to be breastfeeding, get the Medela pump, I know its much more expensive, but it cuts pumping time in half and you will want that extra time bc pumping can become a real chore. Congrats on the breastfeeding, its the best thing i ever did!

by meldopke

I'm 21 weeks and having a boy! (yaaay) My child is extremely active in the evening and my bladder is always full! lol

by nikki0616

So far these past 21 weeks have been a breeze ,but now that shes came out of the pelvic area a little bit and my belly is finally starting to show i feel the back pain, its almost impossible for me to sleep...but i know it will be worth it when she comes out< />

by 1(x)Mama

i'm having the same feeling as well i thought it was because i am having twins

by Dani9291

Miss Dani_Elle I'm 21 1/2 weeks and I just started to really show in the last week or so... My boss would always bug me and say "Are you sure you're pregnant?!", well now when I see her next, she will defiantly see it. Even my MIL was shocked at how big I am starting to look and she saw me like 3 days ago, lol.. Trust me, It will come, just need patience thats all... :) My center of gravity has been waayy off too... When I bend down to grab something or pet my pup, I always have to hold onto something so I don't fall over... Guess it'll just get worse as we all get further along... lol :)

by kaylakj

I always think i am a lot smaller than i see other girls who are the same week as me, but than everyone tells me that i am bigger and can tell. maybe its just because i see myself everyday.. our ultrasound was okay but he wouldn't show his face she kept poking me with the handle and shaking my belly. made me laugh. he likes to keep his arms over his face and holds his hands above his head.. but he was more than willing to show his manly parts to us haha! He also wouldn't sit still through the entire thing she kept saying she couldn't believe how active he was and that his foot was right in my ribs. SOCALICHICK3- my little man also kicks like crazy all the time and i can see him kicking through my skin, and others can see it and feel it by barely touching my belly. I just think we got active babies! be thankful its a good reminder that they're doing okay!

by caitemarie16

I have a tiny belly too I was concerned because I'm not as big as everybody else but my doctor said not to worry about it because the baby is fine

by cpleasants

my belly feels real heavy too, but my doc said it's normal. she's super active too! it's so exciting feeling her kick around in there! i can't wait till she's moving strongly enough for her daddy to feel it!

by princesschristy3683

by princesschristy3683

To the woman asking about what is essential: I tend to keep things pretty simple. (I'm prego with number 3) Cloth diapers actually make the best burp rags. They work great even past the spit up stage for wiping noses and keeping on hand for washing off messy faces. Both my kids are obsessed with the super soft baby blankets still! (aged 4 and 2) So I suggest getting at least 2 that are super soft so when you are washing one the other is on hand. Believe me, it is no fun to have a kid crying for his blanket the entire time it is washing and drying. I'm a huge fan of the baby sling. People always want to touch a newborn baby and ask to hold it. (even if you do not know them), Drives me crazy! So instead of being a jerk and telling them to go away, I keep my newborn in the baby sling. Baby sleeps cozy next to you, frees your hands for other things, and people see that baby is snug and out of reach and don't ask to touch or hold the baby. Biggest waste of money in my opinion is the wipe warmer. It dries out your wipes and doesn't warm them very well. Chances are if you are changing a baby's diaper, her or she will already be mad because you took his/her clothes off. A cold wipe is not the biggest deal. Of course I live in the south, so maybe someone from up north might disagree. Hope this helps!

by suzie29

Im 21 weeks along & this is my first baby! Im going to start my registry soon & was wondering how many things of newborn diapers should I request? Also to the already moms that work & breastfeed. How do you go from the transaction from full on breastfeeding to being a working mother that breastfeeds? Thanks!!

by truelyblessed09

i am 20 weeks 5 days and feel like i woke up yesterday and whoa i'm PREGNANT. my belly has popped and i look pregnant now. it's amazing.

by quinnlyle

my belly is waayyy too big for 21 weeks, I feel so big and heavy. When I went in for the ultrasound two weeks ago the doctor said I was just fine regarding weight gain but I think since then I probaly gained a lot, I've not weighed myself at home though, I'll wait until my appointment the day after tomorrow. I guess I'm scared because I know I'm only half way and I'll be very large later!

by olimpita

At only 20 weeks my baby weighed 14 ounces. Am I going to have a big baby?

by savannahmae

Im 21 weeks and feel the same, more so on some days than others. I don't think you have anything to be concerned about.

by Mickie07

I'm 21 wks also and she (Jailynn) is sitting on my bladder all the time. Had ultrasound about 2 wks ago and the Dr. said it's normal this early for the baby to be low.

by Cherissieac

I am 21 weeks yesterday. She is sitting on my bladder all the time!! I also am getting very big.. I can feel her kicking and moving around all the time! The hubby can't wait until he can feel her kick!

by TiffanyC1008

My belly is really small also, I keep thinking maybe she isn't growing right because I feel as if she's NOT as big as a banana. I have only gained 5lbs so far and that scares me also. I eat like I should, I don't get it. Haha; I too wish to stop looking "chunky" and start POPPING and definitely look pregnant! :D

by MissJRenee2010

dont worry its normal......my baby has been pushing out at the sides of my tummy also.....it gets hard and stiffened at times.....dont worry about it,its normal........my baby is always on my bladder...i pee like 6-10 times a day........i am constantly going.....but no worries....

by Mommy2b17

I am so excited to be 21 wks, baby girl moves like crazy:) I can 't wait for her daddy to feel her kicking and moving.

by jenbengtson

1st time mommys bellys are always smaller , you really cant compare your belly to a third timmer . In the last weeks though all the bellys look the same ..BIG !

by minnibaby

I'm 21 Weeks with my second daughter. I nursed my first daughter for over a year and it's so rewarding. Some of my must-haves were the Boppy pillow for nursing at home, and a Moby wrap which is great for nursing is public places, completely inconspicuous. Good luck, and don't give up.. it's tough at first!

by marisaT913

I'm almost 22 weeks and I can't believe how big my belly has gotten in the last week! It was so little, then I wake up one morning and I've got a big belly! So funny.

by melissajane56

I am 21 weeks i feel great, there's sometimes pressure on my bladder and lower abdomin but he is so active and strong, i love that baby :)

by Babymomma101

I have 3 boys already and just found out i'm having a girl! I'm so excited!

by mrsrorls

Nthornhi: You pretty much just described my life. 5'4' 28 years old, 1st grade teacher, used to go to Curves 3-4 days a week but have lost a lot of energy and now I just walk. I am obsessed with carrot sticks, eating very healthy, and I have gained about 15 lbs so far at 21 weeks. I ask my doctor every visit about my wieght and she said it is "good." They look more at what you are gaining each month rather than all together. We may have to take more off afterwards, but it certainly is normal!!

by steelerchic43

Hey all I just wanted to share a quick note. I'm 21 weeks and it's my 1st. I went for the anatomy test and the ultra sound tech said 90% boy but didnt give a pic sooo i went to a 3d place just to get a pic to have ya know WELL U.T. was wrong and its a GIRL. I had to go reregister and etc. Just becareful just a heads up. xoxo

by LauraRaeDavis

I am 21 weeks and everyone keeps asking me if I have two babies in my belly. I am very short and I carry my weight there, I know that the gaining is a good thing for baby, at my dr's apt's they say that I am in healthy range for how much I am gaining too. I can't help but feel overwhelmed by it all.

by mamapelletier

I'm 21 weeks my parents sayi barely even look pregnant, but they also say thats because my boobs are so huge they take away from my belly. I have a tiny belly and my uterus measures big too don't worry your not alone =)

by kaylynnerg

olimpita-you just made me so very happy! I feel the same way! this is my third child. I am 21 weeks and I feel huge. I cannot imagine how much bigger and uncomfortable I will be in these next summer months.

by giftfromheaven3

To nthornhi--I'm in exactly the same boat as you! Same build and I'm a middle school teacher too, which keeps me busy, and I work out some and eat well too (although I have had a bigger appetite in the past month or two or so)--and I gained 6 pounds each of the past 2 months! I'm worried for my next dr. appointment to see how much I've gained...hopefully not 6 pounds again! I just have to believe it's healthy since I haven't been going crazy or anything and the weight just seems to keep coming.

by mamapete8

I'm 21 weeks, and it looks like something bigger then a banana is in my stomach. LMAO. I had my ultrasound done last week and I found out that I'm having a boy. This week I'm going to start or rather finish working on my registry. There is just som much stuff to get and I keep wondering if all of it is necessary.

by kirsten89

I started my registry over the weekend and because it is my first baby I did not know where to start. I went to Buy Buy Baby and had the option to have a personal shopper for free. The employee was very helpful and gave me great ideas and hints. The employee did not work on commission so I did not have to worry about if she was just telling me about certain items because they were higher in price. If you have a Buy Buy Baby (same family as Bed, Bath and Beyond) then I would suggest going there.

by ejhaislett@gmail.com

Ya'll should try having more than one in there! Have always loved my boppy pillows great for breastfeeding and just laying a little one one.

by ELSCOY

I'm 21 weeks also and my belly feels the exact same way, I also had quite a bit of pain when my ligament stretched quite a bit at once...ouch. As long as your not cramping or bleeding I'd say the heaviness is ok :)

by amanda47501

I have already gained 19lbs!! Only 21wks pregnant. Funny thing is that I had finally got 2 my idea weight when I found out I was pregnant! Well definatly worth it! I just hope this weight does'nt go 2 much higher. 45lbs max!!!!

by Rachaelhope

hi, im new here i also have an app like this site on my ipod touch :) im going to be 22 weeks pregnant tomorow (holy is this ever going fast)

by lizzkennedy

I'm 21 weeks and have not felt a kick yet. Is there anyone with me, because I'm starting to get a little anxious!

by schroyer14

Ladies, feeling heavy is normal. I asked the same question of my best friend who is also an OBGYN. the heaviness u are feeling is the baby getting bigger and that you should be gainig about a pound a week as we all get closer to our due dates. There are pregancy bands that can help support our tummy's as we grow. Hope that helps.

by nicolelm1

Miss Dani - I am very small too and get lots of comments about how small I am. My midwife says my uterus is exactly the right size right now and the ultrasound a few weeks ago showed everything is growing normally. I guess everyone is just different!

by jcmboyer

iam 21 weeks with my 2nd child and i have not felt her move at all... should i be worried?

by emaleesmommy1108

Im 21 weeks. I havent felt my baby move at all but my doctor says I should within the next couple of weeks. I feel like I have a tiny belly compared to everyone else also. They just tell me that I'm lucky to be small. If I could pick one thing that I could not go without, it would be my body pillow. Sleeping at night just would not be the same. As for the baby being on bladders, omg!!!! I swear that is the only spot it likes to be. I can go to the bathroom and 30 mins later i feel like i have to go again even if i didnt drink anything. CRAZY.

by jaclynkyle09

yeah I feel heavy there too. I think it is normal you can get one of those belly holders. I think it is supposed to help with that and help with back support.

Im 21 weeks today and my belly just started to itch. I have some oil, so I can keep my skin in very good condition. Wow, my baby is the size of a banana, yum! I love bananas.

by lissette2002

I am getting pretty bad pelvic pain a lot...feels like I have done 100's of squats all the time. Anyone else getting that?

by Cgoshey44

OMG i feel like a cow already! Im 21 weeks and having a girl and she is super low.

by alm1987

im 21 weeks and bearly showing.. my friends says it cause this is my first baby so it will take longer for me to pop out.lol

by JRL02N

My belly looks small as well, but my doctor said that my weight gain is perfect for where I am at!. I also excersize regularly and am a yoga person which helps me keep my posture aligned which I've heard helps. I can still fit in almost all my pre pregnancy clothes and only just barely started showing.

by misseppe

I think she is practicing on how to dance. This is my 3rd pregnancy and way different from my 2 son's!

by charlia.rice

A must have item for both my girls was a portable chair/bouncy seat. It is awesome for sleeping them in when they are first born and keeps them off the floor. Its also nice to take places with you and once their crawling its great to keep them in place while you shower or fold laundry. I also highly recommend the bumbo!

For AGSkleton....I can't live without a good nursing cover. I used just a blanket with my first and with my second I actually got a cover....lifesaver in various situations like at the inlaws and you don't want to flash the whole world! I also love nursing pads with adhesive on the back...that way at night if you don't want to wear a bra you still have protection from breast leaks!

21 weeks (first baby) and I have gained 8lbs (3 just this past weekend!). even though I now look pregnant, I don't look like I'm as far along as I am but I'm not worried about it b/c the doctor isn't worried about it and one of my girlfriends was like that. As for movement... I feel nothing. The only thing I feel is a thumping in the lower part of my abdomin that goes along with my heartbeat so I'm sure that isn't her. COOL THING... my mom was pushing on my belly yesterday and found baby! I had to take her word for it b/c to me it just felt like my uterus getting hard but sure enough a little while later the hardness was gone from that spot. I can't wait to take mom along and register as soon as she gets back from her summer vacation. Happy pregnancy to all!

by chicklit828

Im 21 weeks and im showing just a little bit well i think... but idk everyone is different usaully the smaller girls show more but im exactly average so i really dnt have a clue lol but maybe by 6months ill be bigger.

by d0ra1520

i am 22 wks and have a very small bump! im def going to be ALL belly soon. my doc told me everything is fine and assured me my baby girl has more more than i think! she was strentched out in the ultrasound soooo i guess her little home is perfect right now :)

by lam6002

im 21 weeks too! just registered getting ready to send out shower invites... i think a must have whether u are going to breastfeed or not is bottles.. because i ma sure there will be times u have to pump for the baby

by kstonge

I too am feeling all that pressure and its really painful. The baby is sitting so low and he doesnt seem to want to move out from his cozy little spot, which is killing his mommy.

by hairgurl23

21 wks today, & we found out 2 wks ago @ our 2nd u/s that we're having a girl! I've been feeling kicks from about 16-17 wks so now they're much more frequent & stronger! Daddy felt her for the first time a couple days ago, soooo exciting to finally be able to share that with him! :) He was over the moon! I can see her now through my skin as well & she is already sooo responsive to us, more so to him (already a daddy's girl lol!) Great to see what some of the must-haves are since we've just created our registry @ babies r us & it's a bit overwhelming!

i'm 22 weeks pregnant with my fourth baby and he moves like crazy and for the last two weeks i have the most horrible vaginal pressure that i never had before with any of my other pregnancies but according to the ob its okay to feel like that. i look and feel huge and cant wait to deliever him..is there anybody else who has any pressure?

by leannamarie21

I am 21 weeks along and am still getting sick. I'm sick all day it seems like. Is there any recommendations to help get over this. I have tried ginger ale and crackers. Please help.

by mguscar

I cannot sleep comfortably no matter what...which makes me so tired :( anyone else?

I cannot sleep comfortably no matter what...which makes me so tired :( anyone else?

by nicnav

To AGSkelton- I'm on baby #2. 21 weeks today. The one thing I couldn't do without with my first was swaddlers. (The ones that aren't strechy at all) She couldn't get out of the swaddler like she could with the blankets and she slept so good when saddled.

by brookelawn

I am 21 weeks now and i am having almost pinching cramps...does anyone know what it means??

by KerianneK22

geez I look more like a swallowed a very large watermelon already, I think I completely skipped the banana section!! LOL

by rachelrivera850

I know how you feel Miss Dani Elle...I was always tiny to begin with, but this is just ridiculous! haha! I can definitely tell there is a little bit there, but compared to all of the other pictures I see I am only half the size of everyone else by now! I know that everyone is different, but I'm ready for my belly to get here already! :P

by lm100489

I am 21 weeks and I am always worried about everything little new thing. I feel like I am going crazy sometimes. I just wanted to make sure I am not the only women out there feeling this way. Of course this is my first baby! I am so happy but just worry all the time that am I doing everything okay?

by Aiden1010

Breastfeeding must have is a pump! I'm 22 weeks with twins and both babies are measuring bigger than the banana - 15 oz each. My belly is out there. Just as long as you and the baby are healthy you are probably good!!!

by JohnnettaCreach

21 weeks & just barely showing! im so small! hope the baby will be ok & normal size. worried. baby shower at end of this month! found out the gender last friday! ITS A BOY! so excited. :)

by rachellemc07

to AGSkelton: MUST HAVE GAS DROPS! u can buy it anywhere! makes breast milk & or formula easy on the babies tummy. also cuts down on ur babies lil toots! ;)

by rachellemc07

I'm 21 weeks and my baby boy (Carter) is always moving around and very very active. Anyone else's baby that active? My husband has yet to feel him, but my dog had her head on my belly and got kicked in the head..

by HaleyNicole2010

To AGSkelton...I am a 2nd time mommy (to be) and will be breastfeeding again. The Lansinoh cream was a MUST...the first week and a half or so is rough, it hurts but I just kept thinking...he will be healthier for this and after the pain stopped it was smooth sailing. Oh and for those saying they feel a heaviness in the abdomen, I am too girls...it gets very uncomfortable sometimes, but I suppose it comes with being pregnant, I don't remember it from the first time but I guess its one of those things you forget, LOL. I'm starting to get tired out just walking too, but it will be ok...19 weeks to go...its so exciting...each day more and more:)

by mrshilton11

AGSkelton You wil need a breastpump and some of the breast milk bags so you can stock up when you work or go some where. You can never have enough diapers or wipes.

by Tommyswildone24

my baby weighed 15oz when i was just 20weeks...she feels really big, i can feel her kick in one place and then a punch a few seconds later in another place, im thinking shes pretty big, pretty long. shes tricking me making me think i have to use the bathroom every few minutes, she stays on my bladder....

by askewmyers

If this sight does not get over the breastfeeding push, I am over it! Stop trying to push it on all of us!

by oapatter

I asked my doctor and he said the feeling like your baby is 30 lbs is very normal. The only symptoms you should be concerned about are 6 or more contractions in an hour and leaking of amniotic fluid. All other uncomfortable pains are normal.

by jennys375

I have felt the same on and off for a few weeks. Guesing it is the added weight of the baby and everything growing and shifting.

by DUVALK81

im 21 weeks also and my tummy doesnt look so big and i also have heavyness in the lower abdomen .! the doctor told me that its just the ligaments stretching out to make room for the baby

by fruity123

oapatter - if you don't like to hear people discuss the incredible importance of breast feeding...then don't read it! or read it and let it go in one ear and out the other. Breastfeeding might be the best option but it doesn't always work for everyone. i was only able to breastfeed my first for a month, but i don't get offended by people discussing its importance. this site is intended to be a positive site for expecting mothers and we have every right to discuss whatever we like.

by darla1018

I'm 21 weeks and I think I had a braxton hicks contraction last night, is this normal so early??

by aaronjess06

Yes, I am also 21 weeks and I feel heavy on one side of my abdomen...I am also a tiny carrier. And I am also going to start my baby shopping soon, I hear a must have is cream for your breasts if breast feeding..

by avisDF

Yes, my belly is small as well, but I feel so full all the time that it seems bigger... everyone tells me I don't even look pregnant.....I'm sure al of that is about to change! I just started to feel the baby move this past Sunday! So awesome!

by westsidefit

Im 21 weeks and i feel my baby kick so much, is not that im complaining.. i love it but it is normal for hi to be kicking so much???

by johannab2805

Are you having your shower before or after baby is here? Did you find out the sex of the baby?

by Kank8385

alot of pain when i stand up my lower right and left side i think its streching yikes it hurts

by mandymodel82

I'm 21 weeks and went for my "fetal survey"... Baby is healthy and already 15 oz! I hope I'm not going to have a 12lb baby! Yikes! But they couldn't tell for sure if we were having a girl or boy! She thinks she caught a glimpse of girl parts but the foot was in the way the WHOLE time! AAAAAHHH! I'm dying to know!

by kparadee

AGSkelton, my advice have a can of formula ready just in case. I was really wanting to breastfeed and when it didn't take I had to try formula beacuse my baby was crying alot and staying awake. I gave him the first bottle drank it all and slept for 4 hours. I wasn't and never did start really producing.

by kristi421

I am 21 weeks today, and just started to show last week. People still can't tell I'm pregnant :/ It's kind of weird. I totally feel like Miss Dani Elle, where everyone else's belly is much bigger in pix.

by qlizandra

My baby is very low as well. At my scan they found that the placenta may be blocking the opening to the cervix. I carried my first baby low but my doc said it was becasue I had really stong abs. Hopefully the placneta will move up as the baby grows. If not I will need to deliver by c-section and I really don't want that. I just pray it all works out.

by MommaWarden

Miss Dani_Elle: My belly is super tiny too! I'm 21 weeks, and people are STILL teling me I don't look pregnant. I kinda want my bump to grow--but maybe this means less stretch marks?? My doctor said it's totally normal, and not to worry...all measurments came back good to go, and I'm finally starting to wear maternity pants...though I don't necessarily have to. Don't worry--we are just lucky I guess!

by khoff003

I am still really small, I have a very small bump but no one seems to notice but me and my family. Doctor told me i wouldn't show much yet bc this is my first pregnancy and i am so small. I also found out today I am having a baby girl! :) 21 weeks today.

by leslied89

21 weeks and my abdomen is starting to feel a lil crampy and uncomfortable like when its thta time of month and went from 186 to 190 already but its stil lnot noticeable that im pregnant maybe because im a chubby woman also i think i can already feel it moving tho

by Carla1792

Miss Dani_Elle: I think my bump is average or small, lol. Compared to some at 20-22 weeks. AGSkelton: I would suggest burp cloths and bibs! Good for feedings and drool :) And a boppy if you don't have one. So much easier to BF with one. Breast pads if you leak, i did.. Breast milk bags if you plan to pump and freeze.

by Kirbylynn87

My belly is still pretty small! People look at me like I don't know how to count when I tell them I'm 21 weeks. But my doctor said with my build and size I probably won't gain a whole lot of weight anyway.

by hopedbell87

I AM 21 WEEKS AND I AM HAVING A BABY BOY! I HAVE NOTHING FOR A BOY ONLY FOR A GIRL SO, ANY DONATIONS WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!!!!!!! MY E-MAIL IS chelle.keira@yahoo.com. iI AM CURRENTLY A SINGLE MOTHER AND I M ON BEDREST BECAUSE MY CERVIX IS THINNING OUT ALREADY. THANKS MICHELLE

by chellek2

I HAVENT GOT THIS YET BUT IVE BEEN TOLD FOR BREASTFEEDING MOMS THAT MILKIES ARE THE BEST THING TO GET. bcuz while ur feeding ur baby the other breast is letting down milk(as a mom who had breast fed its really nasty all the extra wet ness.) with milkies u put ur nipple inside of this bag type thing while u feed ur child and all that extra milk that would normal go waste wont, after u finish u just pour it into a bottle to save or watever and u can use it later.

by mami41210

Miss_Dani_Elle...oh my goodness. that was my concern too. ive actually be fluxuating with the wait. i lost 3 lbs and kept that off for 2 months then finaly went back to my starting weight and gained 1 extra pound. but i was weighed yesterday and lost the 4 lbs all over again. my mom keeps saying how small i look and that i dont look 21 weeks.

by xolaurenox

For AGSkeleton.....BEST PUMP - Medela Pump if you plan to breastfeed. My fist was in the NICU and never latched on well so I pumped for 2 months straight to give her breastmilk. I borrowed a Medela pump from a friend and I am 22 weeks along with my second and that is first thing I purchased. It is great!!! Get one that is worth the money and Medela is just that!!!!

by MOBOLOEHR

I'm 21 weeks and just did my 1st ultra sound and I'm so disspointed in not knowing the sex of my baby. The only thing my doctor concern was having a healthy baby. So right now all I know is the baby is healthy and weighs anout 14 oz. Do you thing its okay not knowing the sex yet

by 23Sun2shine

i am 21 weeks pregnant and i have a lot of pressure right above my pelvis... but its such a crazy feeling.. does anyone know when i will start feeling the baby move..kick??

by epunky1123

I'm 21 weeks today, and I'm HUGE! I've only gained 2 pounds. I look like I'm 7 or eight months (not 5). I'm loving it though because I finally feel pregnant :)

by tiffinybutler

my belly is tiny still too. i'm 21 weeks ! i feel her move ALL the time tho, i love it !!! :D

by chelseakayy

AGSkelton, I breastfed my first two and plan to breastfeed this one also. It is a rewarding thing. I love the mommy-baby time and loved that nobody else could do for my baby what I could. It was also stressful at times. There were many sleepless nights and breastfeeding every 30-45 min at times. The one thing I could not live without, besides the help and support of my husband, was a soothie pacifier. We had several and they were a godsend at times. I hope it all goes good for you! Good luck with being a first time mommy and the breastfeeding. It is all worth it and such a great experience. Niki Hulsey

by nikih1982

I'm 21 weeks and i can't wait until a week from today and we find out the sex of our baby! I feel huge and I have a lot of abdominal cramping. My Dr. says its normal growing pains but they are really getting on my nerves. We finally told my stepson about the new baby (he's five) and he's starting to get excited and ask lots of fun questions haha. Anybody elses boobs growing out of control?? I started as a DD and I'm already to an F! I can't imagine how they are going to look after the milk comes in.

by MariatheRose

21 weeks and we had our U/S last Thursday on my hubby's birthday! We are not finding out the sexe, we want the surprise! I am definitely showing a lot more than with our first. I have a lot of weight in the abdomen and frequent kicking since 15wks, I've been able to feel it outside since around 17wks which is much earlier than last time. For those with back pain I'm finding that after the drive into work, sitting at my desk is really uncomfortable with lower back pain but I get out for a walk on my lunch hour and the afternoon is MUCH better, it's getting those muscles and bones moving as I think they just get stiff after long nights of sleep and a drive to work. Congrats to all, so excited to be into the 2nd half - yay March babies!!!

by rachjerclark

I'm 21 weeks along and still haven't felt my baby move. Is this normal??? I saw him on the ultrasound when we found out the sex and he was moving but I haven't felt anything yet. It's kind of discouraging sometimes. Considering I've got swollen feet, my boobs hurt, I'm tired all the time and it'd just be really nice to have that little "reminder" that he's really in there. Anyway, I was just wondering if anyone else was going through the same thing...

by amandamoran2009

What can i put on my belly so it wont itch?

by bonillae4106

I am the same way as some of you ladies! My pants aren't necessarily fitting great anymore (I am tall and slim naturally), but I don't have a 'bump', but more of a beer gut. I just want the cute bump already :) On another note, I gained 17 lbs. at my 20 week!! I freaked out, but they said it's normal for people who are taller... have any of you ladies gained that much (or more) in the first 20? Sure, I have been eating more but not THAT much more (in my former life, I was very active and ate very healthfully).

by lhilts

Hello amandamoran2009... Cathy here... I am sure there is no need to worry that you have not felt your baby move.. I am sure baby is fine... I was the same way with my son I would feel movement and not even know it was movement.. You are prob feeling them but thinking they are something else... To me it felt like you were excited or hunger like when your stomace growls... Expecting baby number two and felt movement much sooner than did with my son... I am sure when you relize you are feeling baby move it will def put a smile on your face... keep me posted... and congrats...

by Chrismommy2009

I got a call from my doctor today requiring a level 2 ultrasound. They said that they couldn't see his kidneys clearly and they wanted to make sure everything was okay. However, when I went in to find out the sex, the sonographer said she saw 2 kidneys and "everything looked fine." Has anyone had experience with this??? I'm nervous.

by BabySommer

@nthornhi: I know exactly what you mean! I am now 21 weeks and have been gaining weight rapidly, now +8kg. I have been really insisting to my doctor and midwife and although they acknoledge metabolism slows down during pregnancy, they want me cautious and not eating junk. Like you, I am a super healthy eater though, so there is not much more to do, according to my doctor, than cut down quantities of starch foods. In any case, everybody is different and unless your doctor tells you to be careful, just enjoy the pregnancy without stressing out. I have friends that put on an extra 17-18 kgs!!

by joanvas

nthornhi- I'm 21 weeks pregnant too and have gained the EXACT same amount as you, 18 lbs. I worked out a ton before and have always eaten healthy with the exception of the occassional sweet tooth. I couldn't exercise at the beginning of my pregnancy because of restriction. But have slowly started to now. I'm not pigging out so not sure why it's piling on so fast. I'm guessing because my body was used to working out a lot and then it stopped. You're not alone! My doctors don't seem concerned so i'm just going to keep doing what i'm doing, making smart choices and get as much exercise as i can!

by csmigels

I have a tiny belly myself ... it's noticeable by now, but still tiny. Many strangers don't seem to even notice it, but once I mention it, they tell me they can see it :) I'm not worried about the size of my belly though, I know a girl that was absolutely flat by week 20. I also feel the heaviness down there, but it comes and goes - I guess with the baby moving around. She moves soooooo much :)

by apricoty

I'm 21 weeks and I've been having the same heavy abdomin feeling and baby girl is on my bladder too...cannot go 30 minutes without having to use the restroom! Glad it's not just me :)

by bdivagno

21 weeks today! I've only gained 2lbs so far and am just now starting to look pregnant instead of fluffy. =) I was much bigger by now with my first so I'm excited that I'm doing better with weight this time. With my first I was sitting on my butt at an office job, with baby #2 I'm a SAHM chasing a 2yr old so maybe that's the difference!

by ShenaLantroop

nthornhi- I am right there with you! I am 5'3'' and preprego weight is 130. I am only 18 weeks and have gained 20# I am not able to exercise the way I used to, due to being soooo tired. I do 12 hour shifts as a nurse and I run my butt off! Doc says I am doing fine with the weight...

by isidra29

We find out what we are having tomorrow :) Lets hope what we think is ture, it sure would make things easy.

by jcody2003

My hands are numb throughout the night too!!! Also,I feel like my face is really fat. I hate it but I feel like I've gained weight there. Weird. Not a fan of photos right now.

by sweetaug

I'm 21 weeks and am all baby. You can't tell I'm pregnant from behind at all, but all of a sudden I have this belly that looks big to me. I don't have necessarily a heaviness, but a constant pressure like the babies up against me pushing out. I've gained about 18 pounds so far, but remained the same for the last two weeks. I have alot of movement now more to the middle of my stomach instead of the lower area as before. Baby Gabriella is very active in the evenings. I also wake up with numbness in my hands every morning. I am planning to breast feed as well. Good luck to everyone!!!

by pwasserman19

Nthornhi: I want to chime in too. My pre-pregnancy weight was healthy, and I was a gym rat. My friends always said "I can't WAIT to see you pregnant," 1. because they've never seen me with extra fat, and 2. because they were sure I'd be "all belly." Well I'm not. I gained 13 lbs at 20/21 weeks, and that is with eating a very healthy diet and continuing to exercise. I look quite pregnant, thank you very much, with enormous boobs and thickness that is not attractive with bulky winter clothes. From the other responses I saw to you...we are not alone. ;)

by bauerlyndsey

I'm feeling a weight there too and I feel like my stomach muscles are pulling and tearing. Is that normal?

by NicoleMilan

How did the avergage size go from 6.5 inches last week to 10.5 this week? Did they start including the legs and not just crown to rump? And seriously, a 10.5 inch banana? That would be a HUGE banana, not your average one. There's got to be a mistake... The banana sounds about right, but not the inches.

by mandageerts

i am 21 weeks and my belly hasnt popped out yet. should i be concerned, most people cant even tell im pregnant, which is crazy because i already know what im having (which is a girl btw)

by Stardust1990

My Belly is really small as well and i'm 21 weeks. i look at all of my friends that are the same as me and they are much bigger, maybe i will have a small babyy! Very Heathly tho. Cant wait.

by mallorie3

I am 21 weeks today and feel huge!! This is my first child too...and my uterus is bigger than the average. But with our midwives and the ultrasound all looks beautiful! :)

by lrmelkert

I'm 21w5d with twin girls, and the doctor said I hardly look pregnant and I only gained 2 pounds last month. That worried me, but they are very healthy and I am healthy, so I'm not going to worry about it. I have also felt a heaviness in my abdomen, and pressure in my lungs and back/tailbone. Yuck.

by knifeslice

I am 21w 2d and I am still waiting patiently for my little guy to make a move! I think I might call my doctor today.. should I be concerned?

by alowrey1981

@Miss Dani Elle: I am now 21 weeks with my 2nd. I didn't show with my son until I was almost 28 weeks. I was young and extremely active. Don't worry, like others have said, as long as your doc isn't concerned, you shouldn't be either. This time around is much different. Apparently, you show faster and get bigger after the first baby. Good luck to you.

by KandV11

21 weeks today and yesterday had my first experience with braxton hicks.... anyone else???

by galicia0327

I am 21 weeks as well and most cannot believe I am pregnant. I see almost nothing, yet feel huge! I must pee every two hours most of the time as well. It feels very heavy also. Guess it can be normal as I see many of you feel the same.

by tiffanyashaw

well my two bananas are so active daily! TWIN BOYS are what is growing healthily inside of my womb. they are about 15ounces each and my goodness my left side is sore most of the day- my doc validated my symptoms and said it's probably one of them shifting some of my organs around which is causing pressure under my ribcage. i thought that was absurd since they are so small - but doc knows best... i'm with you @mrrios09 the heaviness in the abdomin area is really uncomfortable...but it comes with the territory....

by CHELEAH09

I feel so bloated and just not comfortable. I cannot imagine what 8 months feels like!

by nataliemarieplasencia

To Mrrios09: This is my second pregnancy and I also feel the same way. Be sure to just keep an eye on it. If your discharge starts becoming different, I would be sure to mention it to your care provider! Otherwise, good luck! The joys of becoming a mommy, it's totally worth it!

by TheUbrigs

Yes! My pelvic/lower abdomen feels heavy all of the time. I can feel her shift frequently. I called my nurse to ask what it was and she said as long as there is no burning or pain with urination which rules out UTI that the pressure I'm feeling is the baby. She said she knows it's tiny, but you have to account for the baby, the uterus, the placenta, the amniotic fluid...that's a lot of stuff going on down there!!

by efred415

nthornhi! I am the SAME way. I am 21 weeks, prepregnancy size-muscular size 4/6 5'3. I did weigh 140 pounds, but mostly muscle! Other than the occasional Christmas snack, I eat really healthy, but I've found a lot of my prepregnancy calorie free diet foods are not healthy for the baby...I used to fill up on coffee and diet coke-no calories right...well now I'm filling up on fruits and milk...healthy but LOADED with calories in comparison! I have gained 22 pounds and look like I am about to pop...but it's ALL belly :( My doctor's not worried so I try not to worry but still, it concerns me!

by efred415

If you plan to breastfeed, I highly recommend Lily Padz rather than conventional disposable or even machine-washable ones! They're super comfortable, clear and not bulky, reusable for a few months, and the list goes on! The best part is that you will almost never leak and lose milk because the pad is designed to compress the nipple and prevent any milk from leaking from the nipple. I'm due with my 2nd in May and can't wait to use them again, especially since I can wear them with a swimsuit this summer:)

I am 21 weeks today! Last week i found out my little Bananna is a GIRL! Little Caroline is set to be here May 25. Dr. said she is literally sitting on top of my bladder, and that my placent is sitting infront of the uterus, thats why i cant feel her move too much.

I am 21 weeks and after I pee I get this weird feeling in the lower palves. does anyone feel that also?

by clairejune13

i am 21 wks and i heard my baby's heart beat for the first time at the docs yesterday. it sounded weird yet beautiful kind of like a horse running...the doc said that its normal as their heart beats 3x faster than ours......

by bajanprincess17

im 21 weeks and if i don't feel her moving and kickin i get worried...which isn't to often she is very active. it went from flutters to kicks on new years eve(19weeks to the day) personally i have enjoyed all the tiredness because i was an insomniac before and now i can take a nap and still be able to sleep at night. : )

by chellepierce88

I'm 21 weeks and my belly feels heavy also. He (yes it's a baby boy!) is always hanging out on my bladder. I am carrying very low and am really beginning to wonder if I am this low what it will be like when I "drop" toward the end...

by bsmiley2280

For breastfeeding- get the car adaptor so you can pump on the go and have a private area away from the office. Will need a cooler as well. Babies r Us also sells alcohol test strips so you can have an occational glass of wine or beer and know that you aren't hurting you baby. It really helped me nurse the entire first year.

i have a confession... i had two small wendy's frosty's today. Damn they were good.

I am 21 weeks with twins and I am so huge and feeling like a beached whale.

by llawrence28

AGSkelton... I can give you a few "little" things most moms forget!!! LOL For breastfeeding... it's definitely TONS of Nursing pads for your leaking breasts, a GREAT quality breast pump (especially if you become engorged! OUCH!), and Lansinoh Breast Cream/Ointment to help pevent nipple tenderness and cracking! Not breastfeeding.. in general... Make sure you always have plenty of Infant Tylenol, Binkies (pacifiers; They always seem to get lost somehow! LOL), and finally, the best thing to do and have available.... Home cooked meals!!! Cook lots of stuff ahead of time and freeze it if you can! It's always nice to just defrost and/or pop in a meal in to heat up rather than trying to cook with a newborn!! :) Just a few tips I've learned over the years with my oldest being 11, a 5 year old, a 21 month old, and 21 weeks pregnant!! They're ALL boys too!!! LOL

by GonnaBeAMomOf4

I''m 21 wks also, and still fairly small. This is my 5th pregnancy and I've always looked very small. Even though my tummy doesn't get big compared to everyone else, it feels big and awkward to move around in bed.

by wawamom

I'm 21 weeks and I feel baby moving a lot very low in my pelvis. This is normal, right?

by jenlawe21

Same Here 21 Weeks , First Baby Tiny Belly , I Just Look Bloated But Im Real Tall & Thin 5'7 & Only 107 Pounds ! But The Doctor Said Shes Growing Perfect !

by LilMommie22

Found out we were having a girl. Now we can buy some stuff. Back hurts more and the uterus feels heavy. 19 weeks left!

by msmandia1

I'm 21 weeks and find out tomorrow whether it's a girl or boy. I am so excited! We have a daughter already so another girl would be wonderful but it would also be really great to have a boy. For those of you working on your registry...I definitely recommend TARGET or TARGET.COM. Their return policy is EXCELLENT! We got gifts from both Target and Babies R Us for our daughter and it was terrible dealing with Babies R Us.

by hmoz22

I have a 20 month old and pregnant with #2 so here's some advice for the registry question: With 1st baby, I got about ten thousand receiving blankets (that might be a slight exaggeration-lol) and thought it was way too many but I used them a lot! They work for a lot of different things and are so easy to wash. It was also really nice to have a lot of baby wash/shampoo/diaper cream and other useful stuff b/c it was like having your own baby isle to shop from right at home. The best gift I got was a basket full of necessities - tylenol, motrin, breast pads, mylecon gas drops, all of the stuff you won't think you need until you do need it in the middle of the night! AND a good ear thermometer- gets the temp really fast and will get used A LOT!

by NBleau

I'm 21 weeks and 2 days. She is sitting low and on my bladder. My tummy is feeling a little heavy and I am seeing I am uncomfortable more often. The weird thing is that my tummy isnt round. lol I know may sound weird.. but its more flat and long which my sister said is normal bc she had the same thing happen with her 1st. But in the past 2 weeks it seems I have blown up like a balloon.

by anglicangel1103

21 weeks today and I think my belly has grown every day for the last 2 weeks. I love it though, it reminds me that I have a healthy little girl in there! Not feeling much movement yet but I'm really looking forward to it. My husband is going to start reading to my belly this weekend because she can hear us...how sweet!!

by LaceyNHarrington

I think I have a small belly for an already small short person, went to the docs this past week and she said that all was well with the baby and that she was getting bigger, but I didnt gain any weight from my last checkup.

by vvnrms

i thought you were supposed to pic up energy in your second trimester... i'm 21.5 wks and all i wanna do is sleep and eat.

by itssoplaidd

I am in the same situation as mluttrell...he's on my bladder and hes always low on my tummy. I have to pee all the time

by tehua

Breastfeeding advice I was given as to use the Medela nipple shields. I hear that it makes Breastfeeding a lot easier in the beginning.

by Lesleybug3

I'm 21 weeks pregnant and i also feel heaviness in my abdomen. My mother says it is nothing to be concerned about and she has been pregnant 4 times so i trust her. My belly is small as well but then again i am a small person...

by AllisonF21

I just turn 21 weeks today, but was able to find out what i was having 2 weeks ago. My little boy :) measured out to 11 inches and 1.4 lbs then. So I'm guessing this is why I feel him so heavy on my bladder all the time.

by anhernandez09

OMG!! I FELT MY LITTLE AUBREY KICK!! AND SO DID THE DADDY!!! IM SO HAPPY((:

by abbynicole325

20 week and 4 days preggers... looks like I will need a nap at lunch time today and I still have a crappy taste in my mouth no matter what I eat or drink... BLAH!!!

by Tiff0406

a lot of people were mentioned lower abdominal pain that felt like pulling. I had this pretty strongly for a couple days in my 20th week and went into the doctor to double check everything. Turns out I had some blood in my urine (not seen by human eye). They check out my cervix and everything was fine there and baby was great. Turned out I had a bladder infection which is quite common. They treated me with a pregnancy safe antibiotic and i've been feeling much better. whenever you feel pain, go ahead and call your nurse. better safe than sorry. don't rely on the internet or message board. this is what your nurse and ob are for!

by McBaby1

I'm having a Girl! So excited! I also had the cramps and the doc said i need to drink more water, and some gatorade. Getting the lightheaded feeling also, blood pressure was a little on the low side, but he said to just drink more fluids, nothing to worry about!

by SherrBerr

im 21 weeks also and still wicked tiny. i had only gained 5-6 pounds at my last dr. apt, but i have found that drinking protein shakes has really helped get my weight up. i drink 1 a day with whole milk, ive gained about 8 pounds now in 3 weeks

by agemmell

am also 21 weeks and this baby boy moves every second all day and aswell he keeps kicking me in the bladder makes me go to the restroom alot but doctor said he is healthy

by edithz21

To AGSkelton: I would have to say a Wipe Warmer- the last thing you'd want is to change them while sleeping and having them wake up on you due to the cold wipes. I still use ours occassionally wih my 3.5 year old!

by akamonti

I'm 21 weeks pregnant with my first. For the people with abdominal pain, if it is worse than cramps and consistent, check with your doctor. The first time I asked, it was just round ligament pain. The second time though, I had to go to the emergency room and it turned out to be a kidney stone. Never hesitate to ask your doctor, better safe than sorry and congrats to all you moms :)

by NewBabyBoy11

My doctor told me the pressure in my lower abdomen is likely round ligament pain and is completely normal.

by milli25

i have been having the legimet pain as well! Everytime i get my ultrasound down she pushes down and i jump up!! Cant help it!! i am 21 weeks now and this is my second baby... I find you show alot quicker with the second then the 1st! This pregnancy is totally diff from the 1st one though! Cant control my bladder!!

by louiemagouie

I am 21weeks also and recently have had problems w/ abdominal pain. I called my doctor~ they said that it was that I was dehydrated and or over exhurted. They did say it is normal to feel pain in your abdomen w/ your uterus contracting, but if heavier pain could be more of dehydration. Keep water in you.. I was concerned because I teach a spin class 2x a week and thought I may have pushed myself too hard.

by mrsiceprice0721

I have SUA (Single Umbilical Artery), does anyone else have this or has anyone already gone through this? I am VERY stressed out after reading about everything that could go wrong with my baby.

by mtink

Im 21 weeks today, I the majority of my registry last week and Im glad I did it so early. I was so exhausted afterward I went home and took a nap.

by mlkrice13

I'm 21 weeks and feel like I just blew up over night. I gained about 5 lbs up until my 5th month, I've probably added another 5 in a week! I'm starting to have lower back pains and can't do the normal stretch positions I'm used to...does anyone have advice on how to stretch and relax your lower back?

by TessVining

I'm 21 weeks, due July 20, 2011. This is our first so my belly is not that big yet either. Everyone also tells me that I'm not as big as I should be, but my doctor said the baby is fine. I was extremely sick the first 3 months so I actually lost weight and I still don't weigh as much as I did before I got pregnant ..... go figure. LOL i had to get pregnant to lose weight! =) But it will all come back plus some by the end of the pregnancy. I can't wait to meet my little girl!

by reneeyaws

I'm 21 weeks this week. At our check up last week we found out that our little girl is only in the 30th percentile for size, which isn't surprising because I was too. Looks like she will be a shorty like her mama. I am 5 foot nothing and weighed 5.10 lbs at birth, and it looks like she will be the same. Oh well, guess she's not getting her daddy's height (he's 6'1''). It's crazy though because I've gained a total of 20 lbs so far, but I guess I had more weight to gain, since I was pretty petite prior to getting pregnant (118 lbs). I just want her to be healthy!

by nataliejm28

I'm 21 weeks and my son is also on my bladder all the time. Definitely a low rider so I can relate

by Blkmamba33

I'm having a boy and my tummy is too little to imagine that banana but I heard that boys and girls can make the difference in how your tummy looks! I love love LOVE my little Jonah!! < />

by theperdybrunette

My bellys tiny too! it hasnt grown much yet lol

by mamrhein427

MTINK - I have the same thing. At first I completely freaked out because I googled it and it can be scary, but the majority of births with a SUA turn out perfectly fine. My doctor said that since everything else in the US looked fine & my quad marker came back normal that I shouldn't worry. We are going to do another US at 28 weeks just to be sure - my first US was at 18 weeks. Try not to dwell on the negative possible outcomes and just enjoy your pregnancy...it's out of your hands at this point and all you can do is take care of yourself physically and mentally in order to be the best mommy to your little one that you can be, no matter what! Good luck - I hope everything goes well for you and your baby!

by kimbarella

I'm 21 weeks and just a few days ago, someone asked me how far long i was! That put a huge smile on my face because i too felt i was just getting chubby and not looking pregnant. I've gained 9pounds!!

by itsdeedi

i have read and asked my doctor about my abdoman hurting and she said that it is because of the muscles stretching and that if i change positions or walk around that it should ease it, i think that for the most part it works .

by nickirae

We found out we are having a girl!!! so excited

by chakarakuttan

3~22~11 I'm 21weeks today I dont feel my lill girl in there when will I it worries me and I've been having abdominal pains come and go is it gas ....i can't wait to hold her for the first time

by angie 20

21 Weeks and Found out it's a girl! I am not 100% sure if i have felt her move yet or not...dr. said i have an anterior placenta which acts as a cushion when she moves. So excited to be a mother. I feel sometimes like my stomach drops, or rolls. and gas bubbles....could that be her?

by luckybrunette23

HEY IM 21 WEEKS AND MY WATERBAG BROKE. IM NOT CONTRACTING OR IM NOT N PAIN BUT THTS STILL NOT GOOD. NOW ITS JUST WAITING TO C IF IM GOING TO GO N LABOR OR IF I CAN MAKE IT TO ATLEAST 24 OR 25 WEEKS WITHOUT CATACHING A INFECTION. SO IM N THE HOSPITAL ON STRICK BEDREST...

by crystale7

I have no idea of how much weight I've gained because I refuse to look while at the Dr. I know I don't fit into ANY of my clothes. Only dresses and wrap around skirts. My belly is just starting to show and I'm 21 weeks today, my first. I can tell you this I know I have gained weight because my chest went from a size 34D to a 38DDD. I look like a tribes woman out of National Geographic. Time for the reduction after the baby! I haven't felt her kick either... but I know everything is ok. I'm 5 8 so I guess there is more room for the baby inside. I hope my Boobs stop growing!!!! argh!!

by michaelens

So excited, found out this last week we are having a girl! She kicks like crazy but only I can feel it right now. She especially kicks in the evening ;) It's a magical feeling. Crystale, hang in there, I am hoping for the best for you, keep us posted!

by Pradakiss22

Some dull aching in the abdomen is normal... your muscles and ligaments aren't used to supporting all the extra weight of your growing uterus and baby (not to mention placenta and fluid) so it's just like when you work out and your muscles are get stronger, being sore is part of that process. And that's what it feels like, at least to me... like I did some weird ab/groin work out and I'm sore from that.

by AmyEG11

im 21 weeks as well and he is sitting very low also...and i haven't felt him move! i don't know what im suppose to feel or if im just too anxious! this is normal right??

by kuupuamaiole

MIss Dani Elle, I'm the same way....21 weeks and everyone is telling me how small I'm and I feel huge too. But when I look at pictures I realized I'm small :) Good luck

by hockeybella

Make sure you have a boppy!! It will be your saving grace! :)

by rio5593

Mine is heavy all the time too. And I have to pee constantly. Dr. said this is normal. Plus I get some ligament pain. He said this was normal as well. It makes sense. Baby is getting bigger and heavier. He seems pretty low as well.

by tany93

Felt the first case of hiccups last night. The poor little guy had them for over a half hour before they quit. I felt bad but couldn't help laughing every time I felt him hiccup. I think they were making him mad because he would hiccup and then kick. It was fantastic.

by jassy63

IM 22 WEEKS ACCORDING TO THE BUMP, BUT WHEN I COUNT THE CALENDER IT SAYS IM ABOUT 26 WEEKS... I DON'T GET IT .. UNLESS MY DUE DATE IS WRONG??? ANYWAY I FEEL GREAT 4 MOST OF THE TIME.....

by mommy19

im 21 weeks and my baby is super active! moving around and kicking at the all hours of the day :)..i woke up this morning feeling heavier than i did yesterday :) i looked in the mirror and my tummy looked bigger than it yesterday too! these babies grow so fast :) < />

by leilaninm21

I'm nearly 22 weeks and am just getting over a bladder infection.:( I'm SUPER showing but that is because this is my second PLUS I make giant babies. My first was 10lbs 3oz. We have been told this one is a boy and we have decided to call him Caelum Dominic. So farI have lost about 10lbs... I'm not terribly worried because I was somewhat overweight to begin with and baby is big, strong, and kickin' the crap outta me! :p

by AliKat0204

AGSkelton, if breastfeeding you must get a good pump. I made the mistake of thinking I could get by with the cruddy manual pump that the hospital gave me to take home with my first. You will need a good electric pump. I was so engorged and in so much pain. An electric pump is soooo much more effective and efficient. Many hospitals will let you rent one before you are discharged with the baby, or you can go buy one.

by PhotogNurse

nthornhi - I am putting on the weight too! I am 28 and healthy, I don't eat junk food and I have been putting on a pound a week. I feel huge but my doctor assures me that this is fine, healthy weight gain. Unlike what many others are saying, people all think I am further along than I am. I too feel like I am surely going to put on 40lbs. Don't worry, you are not alone! And thanks for your post cause I too was feeling like the only one.

by Jdobel

Im having a girl! and just started feeling her kick! im very excited!

by JENMOR86

Hey everyone, I'm 21weeks today and I started out at 115 lbs and have already gained 20 lbs! Do you think this is normal? Also, is anyone struggling with getting along with people? I know I'm hormonal, and emotional, but it seems that everything I say people just take it the wrong way! Especially my mother! Were butting heads more than my husband and I! I feel like the stress of a new baby, plus buying a house and dealing with my 7yr old are really taking a toll on me. We still live at my parents house until June, and it's not workingnout too well with everyones opinions. Any advice, I'm very open too! Thanks for letting me vent ladies!

by Smm2585

Miss Dani Elle, I feel huge but everyone says I am tiny and compared o pics of others I've seen at 21 weeks I'm not. I've only gained 9lbs (at last appt) from my pre-pregnancy weight.

by scrubbergyrl1

im 21 weeks and still havent gained any weight back since the first trimester. doctor says as long as baby is growing and she si fding really good. i do eat very well and alot so hopefully the pounds will start adding up soon.

by sagerican1

Nthorni-I'm in the same boat. I was fit before pregnancy, I'm on my feet all day, walk just about every evening, don't eat junk food, and I have already gained 17 pounds by week 21...I'm sure I'll hit 40 before the end. Its hard not to worry, but honestly, we are all different...som people gain more, some less. I try to remind myself that I am growing another human being!

by pims1

I'm having numbness in my hand, especially at night. When I called the doctor, I was told it might be "carpull tunnel" ( not sure how to spell that, sorry) but I am pretty in tune with my body and I am skeptical that this is what it is. When I talk with other moms, they tell me that quirky things just happen to you during pregnancy and that it will go away after birth. I will of course address this again in person with my doctor next week as it concerns me, but I wanted to know if anyone else has experienced anything similar. The feeling of numbness and discomfort almost feels like it is steming from my elbow... So weird...

by akowalski78

Woo hoo! 21 Weeks and baby is kicking (i can even see my belly move) my uterus is pretty high now though. It's strange to feel him kick that high. This pregnancy thing is so cool. The only bad thing about the 2nd trimester so far is that i have dark blue veins in my boobs that are very apparent (i'm very pale). Anyone have any suggestions of how to hide those? I love my new-found clevage, but don't feel comfortable enough to show it off.

by chaslin510

MY DUE DTE IS 9/23/11 :Wow by what ive been reading it sounds like if im not the only one that is not getting a big baby bump at 21 wks...and guess what i just found iut im having a baby GIRl;)

by mamiichula45

my husband and i had another ultrasound and for sure we are having a baby girl :) our first child! And we found out that she's no longer due October 5th instead she's due September 29th!!! yay!! she's kicking a lot and i love it. < />

by twitch11

@ AGSkelton : must haves: BIRP CLOTHS!!!!!!!!! you wouldnt believe how many you go through, and in one day! other than that, you will find you have your own must haves. wet wipes are also very helpful. my daughter is almost three and i still use them! i aM PREGGO WITH number two and i know that that is anther must have :)

by megwbubbles

I am now 21 wks with my remaining baby boy due to VTS and everyday is hard because I can't relax until I feel him move at leaste 4 times a day. The whole thing was crazy because got the news thatI lost the other twin at 19 wks and just had a u/s at 17 wks and saw one waving and the other kicking.

by Mrsgonzo647

I'm 21 weeks now and haven't felt the kicks yet....everyone keeps asking if he is already kicking, so I was getting really worried. Finally I went to the 20 week anatomy ultrasound check up and the doctor told me that I won 't feel the baby kick for a while because the placenta is in front of the baby. It's like a pillow or extra cushion, so the baby is kicking into that and I can't feel a thing. At least I know everything is OK.

by dorcia11211

21 weeks and haven't felt anything either! Doctor said the same thing about me, placenta is in the front towards the top so I'll feel less now and throughout the rest of the pregnancy. I know everything's going great in there, but I'm jealous of everyone who can feel their Little Miss or Little Misters already!

by ltona

@AGSkelton - the one item that is a must have for me is a munchkin bottle blender from babys r us! i never breastfed but this item is a must to prevent shaking the bottle etc. We love it and use it still!

by jennnn32

I am 21 weeks and I keep hearing people saying that I am so small. I think i'm huge, but I realized that since my first trimester screening, I have only gained 8 pounds. Not complaining, but I hope this is normal. This is my first baby and I found out I am having a litle boy. I still keep wishing that I am having twins, but I guess by this point they would have been able to tell, oh well.

by kutegirl

Breastfeeding moms...be sure to get your pump now. I nursed my 1st child for a very long time. I went back to work when she was 8months but I didnt start building a milk supply until she was 6 months. In order to ensure a healthy milk supply, it's best to nurse and pump. So, with my 2nd (21 weeks now), I will pump after I nurse (most likley in the morning and evening).

by Rokene

I am 21 weeks today with my first baby :) My husband and I just had our anatomy ultra sound on Tuesday, and found out we are having a baby GIRL!! So exciting. She weighed 14oz already...which is a bit above average, but only in the 70 percentile...doc says she's not THAT over weight. I am 5'2 and started out before I got pregnant weighing about 113-115lbs. I weighed in yesterday at 132!! Almost 20 lbs already?! I guess its normal, considering I'm popping out like crazy! She kicks me all the time...its the best feeling in the world :) I'm so in love with my little girl already!

by jlong25

If any woman on this site is being abused in any type of way or form, now's the time to flee from those painful situations. It's hard, it's time-consuming, and it's well worth it. For the sake of your beautiful, unborn child who does hear more than you think, it'll be healthy and less painful growing up for him/her. Good luck ladies! With everything and I hope your little one(s) are nice, plump, and healthy < />

i'm 21 weeks and a first time mom. did everyone sign up for birthing classes? how did you decide where to go and when should i sign up!?

by jb0189

For FirsttimeMommie2010 - the numb hands thing is carpal tunnel due to swelling in pregnancy I had it horrible and got the wrist guards and it helps so much with the numbness and tingling and pain at night.

by smainini

im 21 weeks and not really showing..is that normal??

I'm 21 weeks, haven't gained a pound, no stretch marks, BUT I can feel him move all the time. I can tell he's big and feel the weight change in him. He's pretty low most of the time. He's my fighter, hates ultrasounds and has kicked and punched at the wand being pushed into my tummy. We read to him and he seems to like it, can feel him push up like he's trying to listen better. He's also a big fan of me going for walks and being outside. The bigger he gets the more I feel and he's got quite the personality already. Can't wait to hold him, we're so excited!

by sweet_lilly_luna@yahoo.com

My boyfriend noticed yesterday that I was walkng different than I normally do and I said that it's because my center of gravity is changing. My mom piped up and said "Wait until her 3rd trimester and she'll be waddling." Thanks mom :)

by irishmommy82

I've been getting dizzy and lightheaded in the shower lately. It was pretty bad today. Almost passed out. Thought it might have something to do with blood pressure. This only happens in the shower. Any thoughts or advice??? Thank you.

by sweet_lilly_luna@yahoo.com

I'm 21 weeks pregnant with twins, since last week i was ordered to remain in bedrest until I give birth. On my last visit with the perinatal, they found out the my cervix was slightly open so I had to go to the hospital and habe a cervical cerclage, I'm very nervous, counting the days and hoping that I will be able to keep them as long as possible. If any of you had a cerclage before, please let me know the outcome?

by beatrizhuc3

I think I am feeling my baby kick. When will I feel it and know I'm feeling her?

I am 21 weeks pregnant and I have had this horrible pain in my right lower abdominal area and then it moves to my mid back. The only way I am comfortable is to lie on my left side. I cannot lie on my back or right side... is anyone else having this sort of problem? I am told its probably my uterine muscles strectching but it feels like more than that.

by CEGriffith25

i'm almost 22 weeks and i had an ultrasound done a few days ago. i was told i was due 10/19 but then they told me according to the size of my baby i'm not due until 11/3...my mom said my baby is just tiny and i haven't gained a single pound yet...should i be worried? my drs haven't said anything about my weight either.

This is baby number three for us, to answer the question for AGSkelton , the medela swing pump is a must! Its light and very powerful. I also recommend a breast feeding cover for when your in public. Hope that helps. :)

by lana0403

I am so itchy and dry, and do not remember this with my two boys. It is very clear when people say every pregnancy is idfferent.

by aiin01

For AGSkelton- I'm a repeat mom, I'm at 21 weeks. Something I would not go without besides the diapers & wipes :) was a changing mat because germs is a big thing for me & the places were always out of the napkins to place under my baby. & a nursing cover. That's just a couple of my must haves.

by christygrl1

I am 21 weeks and also have only gained 5 lbs everyone seems to think I should be showing more... The Dr. says everything is on track though so as long as my little man is okay thats all I care about. He kicks like crazy and hubby can feel him now!

by bekawood

i went to the ultra sound specialist last month on the 17th and the lady told my fiance and I that we were having a girl. Thats all good and all....but we are hoping for a boy....could they be wrong? We have another appointment on the 28th of this month. Its just that my fiance has 2 girls from his previous relationship and ive got 2 from mine plus my 6 year old son. I was hoping to give him a son since hes the only son from his father. Regardless....if its a girl or a boy...we are happy we are sharing this experience together because we are soulmates!!!!! Any suggestions and prayers are welcome! Also my fiance is looking for work. He just got his class A license back. If anyone knows of any local California jobs...let me know!! Nikki

I am 21 weeks and starting to feel my little Marc moving around a lot more now! Especially on my bladder! It totally freaked me out the first time I felt him doing a little dance on it lol. I knew it was him cuz I just went o the bathroom and to feel random little pulses on it was REALLY amazing, knowing it was him was both weird and cool at the same time. He's definitely gettin bigger in there!

by Sweetfemme

I feel like my stomach is getting "hard" - sometimes it feels really tight. Kind of an odd feeling. We are headed to get a sonogram tomorrow to see what we're having and couldn't be more excited about it! I haven't gained a pound though but the doctor didn't seemed concerned.

by ldsjengreen

nthornhi - I started out exactly the same as you pre-pregnancy (height, weight, even age!) and I too have already gained 15 lbs. All I read on these posts is comments about how no one is gaining more than 5 lbs! (which I personally think is a little odd) and it got me worried that I somehow was abnormal. Glad to hear there are others out there who are gaining some weight! I am trying to stick to the 25-35 lb "standard" but who knows what will happen at the rate I am going!

AGSkelton: the number one thing needed for breastfeeding is a boppy pillow! I didn't have one with my first child but bought one for my second and it made all the difference!

I am 21 weeks and also have a small belly with a good size uterus. I can't believe there is a banana sized baby in there either! Baby is also only moving a little bit. When does the real constant kicking start?? lol

I have a tiny belly as well! I was concerned at first but Doc ensured me all is good! :) Hang in there fellow moms!

I was able to see my little man at his best a few days ago. I was so amazed to see him sucking his thumb, putting his fingers in his mouth, and opening his mouth as to yarn!!!! God is so amazing! The development of a baby is truly something wonderful to see but it's also scary to know it's in my belly. My little man is so active he is due a few days before Thanksgiving day or on the day...let's see. Wishing you all the best...love the site (:

at about week 18 or 19 i started feeling like there was a good amount of weight gathering in the middle of my body. I had to purchase a support band because walking for more than a few minutes would cause cramps.

by Oats17

Is anyone still going to the gym? I wanted to continue to go so I can swim and walk ....nothing major. But since im showing I feel ackward.

by rmarzi

This is my first pregnancy and i am so socked that i am showing so much already. I even feel like a penguin some times because i kind of waddle.

Just started to feel my baby girl kicking - so so strange but such a fabulous milestone! Had a few probs and wonder if anyone else has had their baby possibly diagnosed with VATER syndrome or a blocked Oshopagus? Many thanks any advice greatly appreciated as quite anxious about it until our next hosp appt !!

by sasssysarz

mrrios09 - I too have heavy lower abdomen feeling and have been told I may be suffering with Irritable Uterus (to keep my IBS company lol!) Ive been prescribed Co-drydromol which helps altho Im reluctant to take!

by sasssysarz

I'm also 21 weeks and have put on almost 20 lbs! I feel like this is a lot, but I am working out (I am a full-time phys ed teacher and part-time fitness instructor) and eating relatively healthy (definitely have my splurges of ice cream when I feel the need!). I am 5'2" and started out at 120 lbs, athletic built. People have been telling me that I look big, but I feel HUGE! I guess we're all built differently.

by mrsmalcolm

YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Our baby is the size of a banana!!!! *huggles* We love our family - Blessing to you all, beautiful world xoxoxo

by we3are1forever

AGSkeleton- for breastfeeding a must is lanolin it relieves sore cracked nipples which are impossible to avoid! also a boppy! gosh idk what I would have done without one when I had my daughter. its a multi use pillow to use for breastfeeding, tummy time, and learning to sit up on their own. probably the most favorite thing I had with her. sleeper sacks also for those middle of the night diaper changes you dont want to snap every little button at 3am ill tell you that. its great to have the gowns! I also was a HUGE fan of swaddle wrap blankets. who wants to mess with trying to swaddle with a receiving blanket.

by zakaias mommy

21 weeks(ish) and feeling great! I am so glad I am out of the 1st trimester (and out of the bathroom)! I have sooo much energy! My husband cant seem to keep up with me! lol! :D

by eqb141

My baby boy has really been moving this week. I've even seen my tummy move! It makes me so happy when I feel him moving around. Up until now, I've been unsure if what I have been feeling is actually the baby. I've thought that the movements could be digestion, but now I'm sure that I'm feeling my little wiggly baby.

by amcros

I'm 21 weeks pregnant and a lot of people don't believe that I'm that for long. Can't see good at night cause I'm constantly going to the bathroom. I have started a registry. I feel huge but my mom tell me that I'm like that cause I never wore over a 9/10 since forever.

by crud8927

i FEEL like i'm huge, but i don't think i really am! i was walking behind another pregnant girl in Walmart the other day and one of the workers asked when she was due and she said December (that's my due date too!) but i guess i'm not as noticable, which is weird because i definitely feel way bigger. i was 98 lbs. before i got pregnant, so you can probably imagine that going from a tiny belly to one that sticks out is weird for me. but i'm definitely loving it. (:

I'm 21 weeks and my baby girl Irelyn is due Dec. 18 2011 My problem is waking thru out the night because the side of my leg hurts. Don't know if Its because of the weight and/or laying on it the entire time of the night. I have tried sleeping with a pillow between the legs but that doesn't help. Any suggestions?

First, the Boppy is a wonderful invention, I don't know how I would have breastfed without it we are so lucky that something so simple was invented to make our lives easier. Second, Your pre-pregnancy weight determines a lot of factors during your pregnancy, for example: If you were a heavy person before you conceived it is likely you will not feel your baby kick as soon as a smaller framed woman would and also when it comes time to show I have found if you are heavier once you hit the 20 week mark you tend to look 'more pregnant' than your friend who was a stick figure pre-pregnancy. I only know this from experience, I am less heavy this time around than I was with my first and I am really much happier with my pregnany this time, I am 21 weeks and I can feel my baby kick and roll around and I can actually enjoy my belly a little more. Granted I am no skinny minnie I am still on the heavy side but I know now more of the personal importance of being at the wieght you want before you concieve, it makes for a better more enjoyable pregnancy all around. I also wanted to share with the Moms that ar milk making machines I just discovered an invention called milkies...You put them in your bra like a breast pad and it collects the milk you lose instead of that milk going to waste in a pad in a garbage some place, I thought it was a good idea because I can not tell you how much of my milk got wasted in breast pads when I was nursing.

Im 21 weeks pregnant, baby is measuring at 20 weeks, and my uturus is measuring at 22 weeks. Found out yesterday that we're having a little girl! my midwife said she's going to be a small baby just because of how she was measuring. I have a small body build so my midwife isn't to worried. Been gaining weight at a great rate. I started at 100lbs before my pregnancy, and as of yesterday, my weight is 117.5. My midwife is really proud of that. Still have to finish up making her blanket though. MRRIOS09- Your abdomin will feel alot different do to the pregnancy. Your fine. it is a normal feeling. Your abdomin will grow. It's the top of your uturus that is growing and it causes the organs in your body to shift to make room for your unborn child. If it starts to hurt, and cause any issues, then you should talk to your midwife/obgyn. But, you will be starting to get braxton hicks-false contractions. Thats normal because its your body starting to get ready to deliver your baby.

for buying...burp pads are good, a nuk pacifier was a life saver for me and the baby, the nursing pads didn't help me much they get soaked too easy. A comfy nursing bra and nursing tops are handy. A light shawl to cover nursing baby for privacy, a one handed stroller, a stroller car seat thing so you can take the sleeping baby put the whole car seat on the stroller w/o waking it up.

by goldilocksnbears

I am also im the "little bellies" club. I started off at 5'3, 120lbs and nowww weigh in at 117lbs. >:o It's very frustrating because I would loveee to have gained at least 5lbs (just to make my mother happy...lol). I think the trick to maintaining (or in my case losing weight) is to eat a big breakfast every other morning. It keeps me full throughout the day... or at least until 4 o'clock ;)

by Jasfuentes

I'm 21 weeks with my second pregnancy, twin boys, I was really small with my daughter till the very end and even now I feel like I'm growing quickly and I FINALLY look like all those other women with the early bumps, I also have only gained a few lbs but the doc doesnt seem concerned.

by Charli84

For those worried about being small for 21 weeks...I read that if you had good stomach muscles before becoming pregnant it could take longer to show because they are still strong enough to help hold you/ baby in.

by Taraafc

AGSkelton: I'm 21 weeks pregnant with my 3rd, and the the must haves for me are nipple cream, nursing pads, a good nursing bra, and a boppy.

by jlfabel

VenomTip: that is more than likely round ligament pains. They happen when you go from sitting to standing, laying down to sitting up, and if you turn to quickly.

by jlfabel

neon2362@cableone.net: It's possible that your placenta is in front of your little girl and that is why you haven't felt her kick. So she is kicking your placenta, instead of your tummy. My daughter was the same way, and it took my awhile to feel her kick. But her heart beat was always good. So I wasn't worried.

by Flower child 89

My doctor said that everyone develops differently so unless they are telling you to gain/lose weight you should be okay. I'm 21 weeks today and have gained 4-5 lbs. I was worried at first but when we went to our 20 wk ultrasound we found out our baby is 13 oz and doing just fine in there. Everyone is a little different- if you're concerned, be sure to bring it up to your doctor and they can guide you since they know your situation the best. Happy 21 weeks everyone! :)

by Alicia0407

My belly has gotten a lot bigger in the past week and a half- and is also feeling heavy. I no longer sleep soundly at night- even with many pillows. But that's all normal. My little guy is just growing. ;) I've also had lower pelvic pains over the last month or more (this is my 1st baby). That's also normal- your pelvic girdle is widening and getting ready for the baby to enter this world. There are great articles on thebump.com and I highly recommend reading "What to Expect When You're Expecting". It's amazing how on-target they are with what pregnant women are going through and why.

OK MOMS TO BE.. IM NOW 21 WEEKS & I WENT TO MY OB THIS PAST MONTH AND HE SAID "THE BABY IS HEALTHY, BUT I MAY HAVE TO HAVE A C SECTION DUE TO PLACENTA PREVIA." IF MY CHILD IS HEALTHY & ALL THEN WHAT IS CAUSING THE "PLACENTA PREVIA"? IM ALSO A 1ST TIME MOM 2 BE SO THIS IS ALL KINDA CONFUSING. DOES A C SECTION HURT? ANYONE ELSE HAD A PLACENTA PREVIA? #KINDA SCARED

by randa143

randa143 - Placenta Previa is when your placenta covers your cervix so the baby has no way out. That's why your doctor told you might need a C-Section. It's just that your placenta picked a bad place to attach. Sometimes it resolves itself before you give birth and the placenta moves aside...sometimes it doesn't. Sounds like your baby is doing great though which is all that really matters!

I can feel my baby move but she feels kind of low is this normal?

I am due Feb. 26th, My husband and I are large people, when I say that i don't mean fat, he is about 6'6 350, played football, and I'm fat now and am about 5'9, my husband was about almost 11 lbs when was born, so I have been really trying to watch my weight and I haven't gained just a few lbs less than 10, but I don't look pregnant either, I think that people think I have a beer belly! lol But I am mostly scared about a large baby..... any words of advice?

by ltodd178

21 weeks and my little 'boy' / banana is moving. Just not moving as much as my girls use to. Sits real low by my bladder. Its amazing how different it feels to carry a gril rather then a boy.

Today is 11/1/11 & I'm 21 wks today w/baby#2. Baby went nuts last night after running around all day & doing Trick-or-Treating w/our 27 mo old son. I'm planning to cloth diaper this baby & hopefully cloth potty train DS soon too. Love being preggo again!

by TwoBits2012

@randa143 - I've had a c-section & while it was emergency, it's not as bad as everyone makes it out to be. Ask your dr & make sure your dr is thorough when explaining what happens. It'll be bright & possibly cold in the room (this is one of the few major surgeries people are allowed to be awake for!), they *may* put you under shortly after baby's out (for stitching you up, etc.) The biggest issues post-c is gas pressure/pain, difficult with BM's, & abdominal pain (your abs are separated to access your uterus & baby, not cut). Laughter, I found, was the best medicine & had me up in "no time" post-c with my son. Good luck!

Hi AGSkelton, The most helpful thing I purschased for my son was a thermos. I used it to hold warm water to mix formula with. If your breastfeeding it would be great to have the water on hand to warm breast milk. There is no time for running around in search of things like that when you have a crying baby ready to be fed. Hope it helps!

by redskinsgirl10

starting to feel back aches and cramps..also extremely tired

by Kari89

@AGSkelton...for breastfeeding, my favorite tool was "My Breast Friend" pillow. It really helped me position my baby correctly and made BFing sooooo much easier. As far as a non-BFing tool, I really liked the swadling blankets that velcro shut. My baby would not stay in a plain old receiving blanket and these were a life saver...and sleep sacks, they are the best since we aren't supposed to use blankets. You don't need as much as the store will tell you that you need. Keep it simple. Good luck & have fun registering!

by Obi-Wan-Kababy

AGSkelton- A VERY good thing to have when the baby comes home is a Boppy! Its a life saver for you and baby. It helps keep the baby comfortable when eating and helps to keep your arms from getting too tired too quick. I learned this when my twin nephews came home. They are 8months old now and we still use the boppy to this day!

I am very small too my belly isn't that big either so don't get to concerned about it. My biggest problem I am having at 21 weeks is trying to find a good doctor I am getting medical assistance and I live in Maryland if anyone has any suggestion feel free to let me know. I am 24 years old this is my first baby I am type 1 Diabetic and I have Herpes Simplex Virus 1 so it's hard to find a doctor who won't prejudge and offer things as medical advice that are more of a personal opinion than actual medical advice. Any help would be much appreciated.

I'm 21 weeks, 37 years old, already up 25 lbs., but I had just dieted off 20 lbs. prepregnancy so I'm not surprised. Baby girl is 13 oz. and the doctors were VERY happy with the ultrasound. Husband got to feel her move this morning, which he loved. He's so happy it's a girl. I feel my abdomen heavy only when I'm retaining water. I think when I feel pain, she's actually shifting, as in from lying sideways, to going straight up and down. Happy pregnancy, everyone!!!!! What an amazing experience!

Any suggestions for helping my hurting hips? Does a pillow b/t your legs @ night help with the hips, back, etc??

by bestst

I am 21 weeks today and am carrying low. I feel like I have to go to the bathroom every hour now. I finally gave in to ordering maternity clothes, although the belly band has been great!

by bestst

It funny cause being at 5 months with this pregnancy and being 5 months with my first are total opposites.I was really small with my first. Everyone kept telling me I should be bigger and I should eat more but I never listened to them cause my doctor said I was fine and the baby was perfect weight. I was all baby and I am a small person anyways. My first was a girl and now this one I am having a boy and the size I am now was the size I was at like 7 months pregnant with my first so I feel huge lol. I grew so much more this past week I noticed. And I know I am going to be all baby with this one also. I know my son will be bigger when born then my daughter was so I kind of expect to be bigger then my last.

by Andriavfg

I feel like my boobs are what's getting huge and my belly grew alot at first and then just stopped. It seems like i only need maternaty jeans is when I really have to pee. And i thought the nausia would go away for the 2nd trimester but i still have a bad appitite. Is there something I should be doing?

by kristena2323

@kristena2323 Don't feel bad cause I still have a hard time eating and deal with nausea and sometimes once in a great while vomiting. I take Zofran once in awhile to help with the nausea. Somedays my stomach is ok and most of the time I have issues. I was in the ER 4 times throughout this pregnancy cause of dehydration. Could'nt help it. I tried alot of things to help the nausea and not really anything worked. I have gotten better has time is going on and I am getting farther in the pregnancy but it is still not completely gone. It happens at times to pregnant women. Frustrating but I guess we have to deal. Won't last forever that is for sure.

by Andriavfg

I will be on my 22nd week... according to the ultrasound it's a boy but to some it's a girl.. should i go for another ultrasound? I'm so excited to shop for baby things...

by ladydakila

I too am 21 weeks pregnant today! As a gift, my baby decided to give a kick/punch/elbow for the first time. It's an incredible feeling. My husband happened to be sitting around to feel it too and had the most proceless look on his face. This truly is an amazing experience. I've been reading a lot of posts and to those of you who have not felt anything yet, just wait! Many of my girlfiends have said that I'm experiencing a lot very early. Most of them said that it wasn't until at least 6 months until they felt something. I'm also experiencing the little pains in the abdomen and an extremely itchy belly. My Dr. says these things are all normal as your body is going through a lot of changes. Hang in there ladies!
