Went to the doctor's around my 13 week and they took my blood then I went back around 18 weeks and they told me that my blodd screening came back positive for DS. Just keep us in your prayers I have 3 boys and this is my first girl and I just pray that she is healthy.

c j williams....I am 29 years old and my quad screening came back positive for DS. Further unltrasounds showed that she is perfectly fine! Keep the faith.....most of the time this test is WRONG!!!!!

c_j_williams08... Those tests are just screening tests. There is a somewhat high rate of false-positives. The only way to know for sure is to have amnio or CVS done. However, my husband's best friend has a baby with down's syndrome, and this is one of the best blessings in their life. One of my friends that is due 12 days befor me looks like she is ont that pregnant and my tummy is already sticking out that I look huge. This must be a big baby. I have also been feeling this baby for 3 weeks now and never felt my others untill 20 weeks. So could this baby be further along then they say? I will find out friday, its my Ultrasound.

Does anyone have cramps in there vagina?? I sometimes have these sharp pains in there, probably under the uterus, maybe cervix area, i'm not sure. Dr. told me not to worry, she is 7 months pregnant herself and gets them, but someone told me about cervix incompetence, now i'm concerned.

To c j williams 08...Your baby will be just fine. God did not finally bless you with a little girl to have her have DS. I had my 1st trimester screening and my test also came back + for DS. I spoke with the the genetics counselor and she informed that those test arent accurate. And that they are not used for diagnosing but only screening. She informed me that some people test - and have a DS baby and some people test + and have a healthy baby. I had an amnio done and my baby boy is just fine. So I believe that your baby girl will also be just fine;) KEEP YOUR HEAD UP

I'm 20 weeks today and have only gained 2 pounds since I got pregnant. Is this normal? I've had two ultrasounds already saying the baby was normal size for where I was at in weeks. I'm not exercising besides chasing a toddler around and I feel like I eat normal. I can feel strong kicks so I guess my little girl is okay but I'm still worried that I should of gained more.

We got an ultrasound at 20 weeks 1 day. Our baby weighed 14 oz. and was 7.5 inches long.

I'm so happy i have a sweet cantaloupe now. Thank you lord. At about 8 weeks I had a big scare where I bled for about 2 hours and the nurse told me you know what probaly happening, that your losing the baby and as he said those words i had a funny sensation in my womb. I told the nurse no I'm sure I didn't lose the baby and when they gave me a sono the baby was there and the heart beat strong. Well we just went yesterday and found out we are having a baby boy :) We are very excited...this is my husband's third child but my first. He weighs in at 12 oz. at 20 weeks....my dr. also said this was a nice normal weight.

Is anyone else bothered that they say "the weight gain has just begun". I really don't think I can handle much more weight. My posture sucks and my back is constantly killing me!

I'm starting to have terrible side aches, kinda like i ran a couple miles and was out of shape ha.. i know its just muscles stretching but it can be so painful. my hips really havn't bothered me and neither as my legs. I also always feel like i am not showing really and am not where i should be but than everyone tells me they can tell maybe its just because i see myself everyday! I feel baby kick almost every other day somedays i feel little waves and thats all and others baby decides im a punching bag! but i will have my ultra sound this thursday to find out if its a boy or a girl! hopefully everything is okay and baby is healthy!! :) good luck to everyone!

I was just wondering if anyone out there has not experienced any morning sickness whatsoever in their first trimester. This is my second pregnancy and again, not even one moment of sickness. I know this sounds like a good thing, but I'm the only one I know not to experience it. Even my doctor thinks it is unusual. Any thoughts ???

Last Friday I had my first ultrasound and my lil boy weighs 11 oz. That's larger than average but I guess thats not bad. :)

Had the blood test done as well and has came back positive for ds.Having to wait two and a half weeks to get the ultra sound and possibly the amnio done will keep you in my prayers please do the same for me.Something that might help you to is that God never gives us more than he thinks we can handle just put it in his hands and all will be ok!!!!!!!

That`s why I didn`t want the screening. It is only meant to predict the chances of your baby having DS or other chromosomal trisomy`s. It doesn`t mean that your child does have down syndrome, just that they see indicators that could suggest that. We wanted the baby regardless, so the test was pretty useless, and we figured it would probably just cause unneeded stress.

ashlee1120 - In regards to your questions, this is my 2nd pregnancy. I lost 19 pounds with my daughter and I have already lost 14 pounds with this one and am only 20 weeks. My doctor says this is fine as long as I am eating right and not actually dieting. I also had morning sickness with my first but only had maybe 2 or 3 days with a little nausea but no vommiting with this one. As long as your OB does not see any concerns I would not worry about it. I personally am on the heavier side and they said that they would rather see me loose some than gain the traditional weight that is usually expected.

denisehenshaw, They were probably measureing your entire baby, head to foot. This site measures head to rump, so it means 6.5 inches is the average length head to rump. Your baby is probably normal size.

i went and got my ultrasound at 19 weeks the doctor said my son is 10 oz and 15 inches!

rehagill, the baby will steal what it needs from your body. The vitamins are as much for you as they are for baby. Eat healthy, and try to remember your vitamins. I forgot here and there with my son and he was healthy as a horse when he was born!

I'll be 20 weeks on Sunday and I wish my bump was bigger, if you didn't know I was pregnant you wouldn't have guessed. I just look a lil thicker. My sister in law is also 20 weeks and her bump is really noticeable. I'm starting to worry, even though my doctor said he didn't expect me to get real big. Am I just nuts??

I do not know if I can count on anything to be on track according to milestones included in this website, or any for that matter. I am pregnant with my first baby 20 weeks, I felt kicks early, gained 11 lbs in one month. I also popped out in 4 or 5 weeks. So long size 5 pants almost immediately. I wish I felt prepared for anything.

I think I am haing a huve baby too!!! The head looks giant to me but the sonographer said its normal size! I am feeling a little overwhelmed now that I am at my 20 wk mark!!!

i had my ultrasound yesterday and they want me to come back in 4 weeks due to the baby sleeping on its belly and not being able to see what they wanted to see. is this normal or could there be something they are concerned about and just not wanting to tell me until they know more for sure?

My baby is longer then 10 inches. :P Her toes touch her head. Poor baby is folded in half like a sandwich! Its expected though! Her daddy is 6'1 and I am 5'10! She will most likely be in the 90th percentile for her height when she is born like her sisters :P

To megoj8326 and all other new Momma's asking about being in pain, but also being very horny and wanting sex. I'm a new Momma as well and I'm told this is SUPER NORMAL, lol! One major way I use to release the tension and pain I get, is I have my DH give me a really strong back rub (he's really good at this). As long as he does put a massive amount of pressure on my "pressure points" it feels wonderful and afterward I feel very relaxed and "loose" to the point I feel like I've stretched pre worout, hehe. So, indulge in a prenatal massage if need be. Then go enjoy your husband in any way you feel you can ;). Blessings to all the Mommas! :D

We just found out we are having a girl last week:) So excited! However, they did say she has a choroid plxus cyst on her brain. I googled it like crazy and this doesn affect her development in ANY way, and it's supposed to disappear in the 3rd trimester. Has anyone else ever heard of this? Apparently 1 in 100 babies get them. Id just love to hear something re-assuring.

OK haha, the cantaloupe though surprising sounds reasonable! the part I am concerned about is the " and the weight gain has just barely begun. " ummm, my belly says otherwise! I have only gained it there, so I don't think it is from overeating, please tell me I am not alone!!

Iam so excited today iam 20 weeks. 2 weeks ago we found out we are having a girl she looks great. I have a low lying placenta which the doc says its pretty common and should correct itself by week 28. I hope it does i would like to have the most natural birth possible but as long as the baby is good iam fine with anything. My baby bump is still small but since baby is good iam ok with that too cant wait to get hugh.

For everyone worried bc their baby weighs a lot: my dr told me that the weight varies of the baby and even if he/she is big now they could be normal/smaller at birth so dont worry if ur baby is big yet haha

mY blood screen vame back positive too. i was so upset. i then had an amnioccentisis. everything is Normal. thank god!! wish I wouldnt of had amnio because of the risk. . everthing shoul dbe fine

Ok. So I have an anterior placenta...which apparently cushions any kicks from my little one for a little longer. I am 20 weeks, and am wondering if anyone can share with me, when they felt kicks for the first time.....(with an anterior placenta....)

I'm so happy one of my sister's has had a baby, this way I can compare notes and ask those questions you may not want to ask a stranger! I did not realize in the lower panty area would feel the way it does. The stretching of the muscles and skin. Sitting for a long period of time I have found it's best to take your time to get up than the fast way I'm use to getting up LOL. Or I'm standing for a few seconds to wait for it to adjust to standing, up right! The little things....

Today I'm on my 20th week and I am excited each and everyday. This is my first pregnancy and I can feel my baby move a lot. But still I'm worried about weight gain since I'm so thin now due to extreme vomiting. They said that the vomiting after the first trimester or during the fourth month but still I am experiencing it up to now. Sometimes I would vomit blood already and I'm so pale. I'm 26yrs old and i have an 8yr old son. Well I just found out that the blood test AFP Test came out positive for Downs, It was Wrong. Even U/S said a high chance of Downs by the skin on the back of the neck. Now I can relax. I'm so happy and relieved.. I took the Amnio to find out 99% forsure what was going on and that told me everything was fine. . So I'm 20wks today and this experience has really made me appreciate things more. I was really depressed, stressed and torn on what I was gonna do. So other ladies please get the Amnio to make sure before you take any tragic decision's, because these test are very wrong, from what I research and experienced..

20 wks tomorrow and I still have to have my afternoon nap between 1 & 3. I try fighting it but when I start looking like a bobble head, I just lay on over..lol Have to see the Perinatologist tomorrow, so hoping to find out what my cantaloupe is. Still having lower abd pains and vaginal pains, but doc says is ligaments..what fun but so excited. Friday I am having the 4D scans done. They put it on a CD and put it to music. Can't wait

rehagill: It's definitely recommend that you regularly take your prenatal vitamins, but it's not a big deal if you accidentally skip them every once in a while. Your body is a storage tank for most vitamins, and your baby will always take what it needs. The thing is, you need to take enough vitamins so that your own body is able to fully function. That's why you're more likely to get cavities and when you don't take enough calcium, cramps when not enough potassium, and even muscle loss when not enough protein. Your baby takes what it pleases. So the baby's just fine, especially if you eat healthy ... just gotta make sure there's enough for both the baby AND you. :) Hope that's helpful. :)

Kinisks and cancousins - I also have an anterior placenta. I was wondering why I hadn't felt anything before 20 weeks, but the doctor said I would once the baby got bigger. She said the anterior placenta is totally normal, and that I just wouldn't be able to see any of the "alien hands" pushing out at the front of my belly :) Hope this helps! Congratulations to all!

CJ Williams, mine also came back positive for SB... I went in for a level 2 ultrasound to check her out and everything was fine! Those tests have a very high false positive rate. I feel your pain though. I will keep you in my prayers!

Just found out that I am having a GIRL!!!! She is 11 oz. and everything seems perfectly healthy! I was SO hoping for a girl and just cannot contain my excitement. So glad she is healthy and growing well. She was moving around all over the place during the ultrasound! Quite an active little girl! I couldn't be happier and I already LOVE this baby girl so much!!!

i just got done with an ultrasound done in the radiology department of a hospital and im 19-20 weeks.. the ultrasound tech said my sons only 5 inches from head to rump, is that normal?

For ladies worried about their baby having Down's Syndrome...every person I've met/supported who has Down's (which is at least 5 people) are so sweet, caring, loving, friendly people with human troubles just like ever other person. People with Down's syndrome are still human beings and every child regardless of disability/ability will be a challenge to raise. Humans are just like that :)

Yay, my little girl is a cantaloupe this week. We had our us last week and she weighs 10oz, but my ob did call my and say he wants be back in for another us this week (scheduled for tmrw) because my amniotic fluid is a little low. Let's hope it's nothing and that I just need to drink more water. Please no bed rest, 20 weeks is too early for that!!

All is well so far with my baby boy! Last week I found out that I have placenta previa. Fortunately (and unfortunately,) there isn't much I can do but take it easy... especially on the pelvic area. Praying that it will move soon!

we had our first ultra sound today see monitor the developing anatomy!!! it was the sweetest darn thing in the world :) We saw the baby mimicking chewing motions and preparing to take the first breath. i couldn't believe how much of wiggle worm he/she is!!!

The quad screenings if they show positive it just means you have a slightly higher chance of DS, more like 1/200. Dont mean your child is DS. Yay for cantalope! :D

I think they mean the Baby's weight gain. Some of us have gained already, some have lost. Everyone's different. I have gained, I have a bump and from what I know about me, that's about right. I put on weight pretty easy and usually have to watch it! That being said, it's pretty exciting to be at the halfway point! I refused to have any extra testing done too. Why worry? This baby is mine no matter what happens! I am taking him or her home and loving my baby to the core! Congratulations fellow Moms...we're making LIFE! How awesome is that?

... huh. So... nvm on my previous comment. I just did a baby calculator (after crying to my DH that I was gaining too much and was afraid I was hurting the baby), and even without gaining any fat, the weight of baby and breat growth and fluids, etc... I should still gain about 24lbs... So, I feel a lot better now. I know stress isn't good for baby girl so I'm just gonna calm down, have an apple, and just be careful.

It has been a rough stressing wek but my hubby and I are holding strong to our faith and staying positive. this is my first time writing here. I'm 20 weeks today and praise the Lord that I have made it this far. I have had 4 miscarriages prior to this pregnency, never made it pass the 7-8 week mark. Got a scare at 8 weeks when I discharged brown and had cramps, but after had an ultrasound found a strong hearetbeat. On Good Friday started to get pains on the sides from the hips to the vagina, thought I was having strong cramping, but doc says its the ligaments that are stretching. I am getting so excited, had an anatomy ultrasound last week, couldnt find out the sex b/c baby had its legs crossed. Baby is 8 oz., and now is the size of a cantaloupe....omg I am just so amazed. All of our screening tests came back negative. I hope this next 20 weeks goes by really fast cause I cant wait for this baby to be in my arms

i remember people saying that one day youll wake up with a bump and be like "where did this come from?!" and that happened last week. glad to have grown out of the awkward l"ooks like i ate alot phase." were having a girl, and now all i can think about is unicorns, frilly bikinis and glitter....god help me. haha

just found out its a BOY!!!! so excited!!!!

20 weeks, having our first US, May 13- Fundal height measuring about 6 cm larger then my weeks, but weeks are right on due to tracking my cycle and confirmation from my Dr. Listened to the Heartbeat yesterday,found two- one on left and right side- thinking with these possabilities it's twins. I just hit the 10lb weight gain mark today. Seriously nervous about having multipals for a first roudn pregnancy. Just call me fertile mertyle!

My husband and I find out the gender on Friday. This is our first baby and we couldn't be more excited! Feeling the baby move is the most incredible feeling!!!

I asked my doctor about the size, and she said my baby is the size of a stick of butter...don't know if that helps...

Totally excited to be feeling little boy blue moving on a daily basis. His little legs are really dancing in there! 21 weeks on sunday and all is welll!

I am 20 weeks today, and I only feel my little one moving every so often.. I hope this is normal. WIth my first child I felt her at 18 weeks and it was so strong everyday!!

Is anyone experiencing pain when sitting? I'm 20 weeks and have a fair amount of discomfort when sitting even for short periods of time. I fee like my "butt bone" is bruised constantly. I'm a student and a nurse, so do a fair amount of paper work and homework. Any ideas on relief?

so my first ultrasound i had said it was a boy i saw the weiner and everything and this last one said it was a girl the hamburger effect has this happened to anyone? im afraid theres 2 in there i just dont know about one of them

I am at 20 weeks today! half way there! and so happy my baby girl Serenity Dawn, is the size of a cantalope! i'm a high risk pregnancy and have factor five mutation so I am happy that so far the doctor says Serenity is growing healthy and just right. i hope she continues to grow just right! I have been extreemly emotional lately and crying alot feeling very lonely and my husband isnt helping much at all he is on his video games all day. So i went to the Dr last week for my 19 week apt. And found out i am having a little girl! As i am so excited, i am still having the worst migranes! I tried tylenol extra strength and regular and they didn't touch it so the Dr gave me a prescription and that now doesn't touch it! They hurt so bad! I have also tried drinking caffeine :\ got any other ideas!?!

I am 20 weeks today :) and I had my ultrasound this morning. We're having a boy and he is perfect. He's got all his fingers and toes. I am beyond excited. I am halfway to meeting him.

I turned 20 weeks today. We go to the doctor Friday to find out if its a boy or girl. BUT, I havent felt anything... I really really really want to feel something!!! Hopefully soon I will!!

this week my husband and i get to find out baby's gender!!!!

For those of you who aren't feeling much movement my ultrasound sound tech said that if the placenta is anterior (in the front - I just learned that) that the only downfall is that you may not feel movement as quickly. So don't worry!! My cantaloup was squiggling all around and dancing up a storm for the scan though I didn't feel a thing. That was last week and this week i'm feeling some twinges and bubbles, pretty neat!

So I gained 5 lbs. this month! Yikes! I was hoping to only gain 2-3 each month. Really they came on in the last two weeks, and that's when my belly went gangbusters. I can't see my feet anymore.

Ugh...I keep gagging...I gag all the time....I gag if there is a dirty dish in the sink....if there is dust on the table....I gag if there is soap scum around the shower drain...raw meat...cooked meat...I gag when I open the refrigerator....I gag at clothes on the floor...sometimes I gag so hard that I almost throw up and I have to hold my breath....this started around 10 weeks...it drives me insane!!!

Still havent found out the sex, but i should soon, since babys a cantaloupe...just hope its a boy!

Going in on Wed to find out if we have a girl or boy cantaloupe :) Sooooo cant wait!!!

Im on my 20 weeks and suddenly i had a high fever and dry cough... Would my baby be in risk bec of that? I checked on my ob already and gave me meds.

Everywhere I have read the average size at 20 weeks is 10.5 ounces... Today (20Weeks 1Day) my baby boy weighed 15 ounces!! I am a very petite frame and my husband is very large built and we have always been joked with that the baby will be bigger than me but now I'm beginning to get afraid of how big he really will be! Is his size now a good indication of how big he will be at birth?!

This is my second pregnancy and i can not believe the difference in how early im showing.. with my first i started having an obvious bump at about 24weeks.. ive had an obvious preg belly with this one from 16weeks.. and from 18weeks, just popped.. looking at the size of the cantaloupe, it makes sense!

Ultrasound said his kidneys are larger then normal. Hoping the measurments were off? They say it is nothing to worry about. Just have another ultrasound in two months ~staying positive~
