5 Ways to Survive a Summer Pregnancy

Find out how to stay safe and comfortable under the heat.

With your belly getting bigger and bigger just as we head into summer, you may find yourself wondering if you’ll make it out alive. But don’t worry -- while it’s true that a summer pregnancy isn’t always easy, here are a few tricks to ease your hot-weather woes.

Summer Bummer #1: Dehydration

Getting enough fluids is especially tough in the hot summer months. Ordinarily, you should try to drink two liters of clear liquids every day, but in the summer, you need to add eight ounces for every hour you spend in the heat, according to NYC nutritionist Lara Englebardt Metz, MS, RD, CDN. That’s basically the amount you’ll be sweating out.

Cool Fix: Icy concoctions
Since you’ll be constantly sipping, make your drink a fun one. Try out Lara’s favorite mocktail: chilled seltzer with a splash of mango juice and lime. The mango is loaded with vitamin C and iron. Pretend you’re relaxing on a tropical beach by sipping from a super-cute cup like this coconut-shaped one from Target ($16.99 for set of 4, target.com). Or, if you get sick of sipping, go for a homemade Popsicle. Lara suggests blending nonfat yogurt, walnuts, and blueberries and pouring into Popsicle molds for a sweet snack loaded with H2O (not to mention omega 3s, calcium, antioxidants, and fiber). Going further than a step or two from the house? Pack your chilly treats in a Veranda cooler basket ($45, picnicfun.com) to stay comfy, cool and cute.

Summer Bummer #2: Swelling

Edema can be worse in summer, causing your calves, ankles, and feet to become one wide, bloated mass. Sounds like fun, doesn’t it?

Cool Fix: Kick up your heels!
“To help reduce swelling, make an effort to keep your legs up whenever you can -- even in the office,” says Lara. For an extra-relaxing way to lounge, try a comfy hanging seat like the colorful, handmade, Mayan hammock chair (from $38.99, hammocks.com). While you're outside, slather on Burt's Bees DEET-free insect repellent (or their natural bug bite cream, if it's too late for protection) to help avoid future issues ($8 and $6, burtsbees.com). For double relief, grab your partner, hand him a bottle of Mama Mio massage oil ($19, mamamio.com), and let him go to work. If your swelling persists, Lara suggests munching on watercress, celery, citrus fruits, or small bits of parsley, which may act as natural diuretics.

Summer Bummer #3: Extreme heat

Obvious but true: It’s steaming. You’re huge. It stinks.

Cool Fix: Get wet
Water is a mama-to-be’s best friend, so don't shy away from the pool! An afternoon dip will not only lower your body temp, the buoyancy will also ease the stress on your squished organs, and splashing around provides a great low-impact workout. Plus, you’ll have the chance to really show off that belly! Go on -- be brave and bare your bump in a colorful printed suit like the sungarden bikini from Maternal America ($92, blossommaternity.com). No access to a pool? Try the plastic kiddy version. Baby can use it later. Just make sure you've got sunscreen on while you're outside. For your extra-sensitive face, we like Belli's anti-chloasma combo sunscreen/hydrator ($24, belliskincare.com) -- it's specially formulated to fight those dark brown splotchy areas.

Summer Bummer #4: Sticky sweat

Okay, so the summer may have you chafing a bit. But the best thing about a summer pregnancy: lightweight and comfy maternity clothes!

Cool Fix: Breathable maternity wear
For maximum cuteness and comfort, go for loose, light-colored clothes. This helps keep you from overheating and allows sweat -- especially beneath and between your boobs -- to evaporate, preventing nasty rashes. Some cool options to try: Juicy Couture’s floral printed maternity dress ($220, juicycouture.com), A Pea in the Pod’s linen/cotton shift dress in tiki print ($225, apeainthepod.com), or Gap’s smocked tube top ($24.50, gap.com). Plop a floppy Cabana Life hat with built-in SPF 50 ($28, cabanalife.com) on your head, and you're ready to go!

Summer Bummer #5: Boredom

The simplest way to keep your body temp on track? “Stay indoors in an air-conditioned home,” says Lara. But how’s a girl to keep her sanity when she’s hanging out on the couch in the living room all day?

Cool Fix: Fun summer rentals
Beat the heat with a few belly laughs courtesy of some baby-focused DVD favorites. Your, er, “condition” might have you looking at a couple of ’80s and ’90s classics in a whole new light. Remember Junior? How about Father of the Bride Part II? Look Who’s Talking and Nine Months are great for a chuckle too. Renting (rather than hitting the theaters) will give you the freedom to pause the flick and walk around to ease your aches (or pee every 10 minutes).

Ya living in Bakersfield we really need all these tips, thanx

by Chandra1979

I love how they're recommending $200+ maternity dresses - how practical!

by alisonada

Or the $65 t-shirts.. yeah I am gonna pay that, I probably spend that much on 4 items and none were a t-shirt.

by

seriously juicy couture? That's what you recommend. wow!

by Daniella4

Yeah cause the majority of pregnant women can afford $200+ maternity dresses...um...NOT!

by Blessed.Mommy

I found that the Goldbond powder works on the sticky body stuff. I use it around my arms and upper legs to avoid that sticky skin feeling. Works great & got it for about $3.00. Works a lot better than baby powder & no smell.

by mollyjohn

It would be nice if at least one of the suggestions EVER given on this site were practical. I've asked my OB about things that this site says are absolutely not to be done (IE: back sleeping after 4 months) and she said that they are untrue and ridiculous!

by

haha, what if you already have children? My daughter is four and my son is 13 months, and we're supposed to survive the summer inside watching 80's movings? The 200 swimsuit is ridiculous..I got mine from target...cost me 22 for the two pieces...and i thought that was pricey..so far we've hit the pool a few times, and the science museum, but this isnt stuff I recommend doing alone! bring a friend or wait till daddy's day off! Oh, and try being prego in the summer in FLorida...bring on the swelling!

by Yessica8

The high in Austin today is 105... I am really loving the tips about buying my own baby pool. Definitely going to walmart today!

by kristinpetty

I'm in Houston. It's 100+ outside and that's in the shade!I found some cute cotton dresses at Wal-Mart. They aren't maternity, but I bought them a little big. They've been life-savers and at under $ 15 a piece, I was able to buy it in several different colors!

by htrevino76

I live in Upstate New York and it's been a cool summer so far, but I felt the best I've felt in WEEKS in my friends pool just paddling about last weekend. No swelling that day!

by nordysgirl23

My boobs have doubled in size already and I am only 28 weeks. I cant find a swimming suit that will fit on top! Any suggestions for large breasted bregnant women?

by Mama'Shandra

Does anyone know of a frugal pregnancy site? If there isn't one, there should be!

by Joyful10

www.storknet.com I work at a hospital and this is one all the nurses have been recommending to me.

by jwedsbride2be

i live in las vegas and its already 110 during the early afternoon, even with the air conditioner i wake up sweating every morning =(

by Arig101603

It may depend on what you consider frugal. I have found GREAT items at both Gap and Old Navy. They are not maternity, but if I buy their dresses or shirts just a size or 2 bigger, I figure I will also get some wear out of them when I'm working off the baby weight. Good luck!

by bl021807

I've actually purchased some really light-weight tops and shorts through eBay. A lot of clothes still have the tags and if you can wait a couple of days for them to be shipped, you can get some really GREAT bargains!

by whitrn

love that i can now choose between my car payment and a dress... hmmmm, car with airconditioning, yes that one!!!! I found a better site for maternity clothes for younger moms such as myself, kikisfashions.com very cute stuff :D

by cburnside21

Gee- the only issue that I'm really in search of an answer for is overheating. So dealing with "extreme heat" was oh so not at all helpful. It's like when I asked the fill-in OBGYN for any helpful tips while at work and all he said was "find a swimming pool." Yeah. At work- helpful.

by tk925e

to capnfahlyss, you actually are not supposed to sleep on your back after 4 months, due to a major vein being compressed by the weight of your stomach, which will give your baby less oxygen

by zeppelinette

Yeah i don't know about the staying inside watcing 80's movies...cabin fever is a bitch LOL...200 swinsuits...no thanks I'll wear a tank top and some b-ball shorts

by elmo777e@yahoo.com

cburnside21, what makes you think only younger moms want cute stuff!

by reaganandsis'mom

Well it's easy to tell by the attitudes that almost everyone on here is pregnant... Yeah some of these tips suck, but at least they're available. Maybe just use them to conjur up some ideas of your own instead of just griping that they're not practical. I'm just saying.

by bethanyrachel86

Haha ugh the central valley in california is not the place to be when pregnant. Although, im not huge yet and i have a pool so i should consider myself lucky!

by ERINGLORY13

I think I will stick to my husbands clothes much more affordable lol

by Chrisanddannielle

I'm dreading the idea of being very pregnant this summer. Wisconsin summers are hot and humid. Ick.

by hscheidel

just get a bikini and wear it under regular maternity wear then tease ur hubby....by giving him a strip tease when he walks in door, you might get hot but then you can take a cool shower together to cool down again

by debgerard

I think I will stick to walmart for maternity clothes!!! lol. But the mocktales and freezies are a good idea. Not looking forward to being huge this summer!

by LeahanneM

I want to see a real mom (not model...Heidi) wearing a two piece at 7-8months pregnant. Then I'll do it too!!! :)

by MeaganS10

I cant believe how offended people are by the suggestion of a bikini or a $200 dress mentioned in this post. Keep your opinions to yourself some people like nicer things that don't come from Target and those people dont critize the less expensive mentions.

by rachtles

I have to agree with you ladies. I laughed when i saw juciy as an option! Come on now be for real!

by dvelasquez

I have to agree with you ladies. I laughed when i saw juciy as an option! Come on now be for real!

by dvelasquez

They are making me think that this website is for people that have tons of money to spend on things like maternity clothes. A little tip though, go to Old Navy and get those really cute dresses for $20 a piece. Great things about these are they are breathable and you can wear them next summer after you have had your baby. (They aren't maternity clothes and nobody will be able to tell!)

by butlerfam6

Im going to need affordable maternity clothes durning the summer! Suggestions on were thos can be found?

by cassy010

This is not practical. It's disappointing...

by olimpita

Geez!!!! Juicy Couture! haha yeah right! Those days are long gone for me!!! $200 can buy some diapers!!!!

by mollywilliams07

or the $92 bathing suit? when u can go to a walmart and spend $20 max....

by wiccababy

I live in fresno and im gonna die during the summer. im due in july. whose really gonna go buy a $200 dress? wow

by kaiarainsmommy

I agree with the other comments, the expensive maternity clothing suggestions are a ridiculously out-of-touch thing to propose in an economy like this. I'm lucky to keep my job and still afford all the baby things I'm buying second hand. BUT I'm definitely getting myself a baby pool since a local pool membership is just way too out of reach for my budget. Oh and by the way, there's no stinking way I'm spending a hundred bucks on a swimsuit I'm going to wear for 2 months. I'll wear my undies in my baby pool, thanks!

by susanadanna132

Juicy Couture? Not. I love Target's Maternity wear.

by Alanaa.Diaz

This is my 2nd pregnancy but first time in the spring/summer. I have found Old Navy stores and site to be great for inexpensive maternity wear. I'm talkin' sale prices of 2 for $10 tanks and tees and a super cute dress for $25. Other than the clothing advice I found the rest to be helpful.

by showac0501

Okay people! Crabby much? I can't afford those clothes either, but the point is light weight and breathable.

by jen_jupiter

I love how by the time I got to the bottom, I had the same thought everyone else did... "$92 for a bikini? $225 for a dress?" C'mon, Bump... be real!

by mrtillotson

I live in Georgia and I due at the end of July. I'm dealing with heat, humidity, and misquitoes. I just feel sorry for some of my friends that are due like in September and October

by thodges080789

I appreciate the ads keep the site free, but this does seem a little shameless - $220 dress that you can wear a handful of times to *ahem* feel "cooler"?

by Goldabraun

target and old navy are my best friends for maternity!

by Eattwood

Yeah I guess all pg women are rich. Who's gonna buy a $200 dress to wear for a couple of months?

by fajita14

Very useful info! I also suggest stretchy tank tops for the summer. I found some really comfy ones at Target (not even maternity tanks!) that stretch and keep me cool and are very affordable.

by CoulsonSquared

I LOVE how this article assumes we're laying around on the couch bored all day waiting for, what, our husbands to come home so we can serve them dinner? Very progressive.

by jdcelery

I was able to order a maternity tankini from Walmart.com, $26 for both pieces. It's the best maternity clothing purchase I have made! Being under 5ft tall with a pair of swollen DDs I was nervous about the fit but the halter tie has let me adjust the shoulder strap length and shape of the top keeps the girls secure. Also I have been living in non-maternity empire waist maxi dresses which thanks to the growing trend can be found everywhere, Old Navy, Marshalls, Ross, Target.... Oh and the Bacardi frozen mixers from the grocery store have been my favorite night time treat especially since we don't have A/C.

by katieannesmith

Stay indoors! Remember to drink fluids and if you feel like you have to get out, go to the movies. Just make sure it's a low-key film. Nothing high action with explosions, gun noises, ect. I'm in the third tri and went to the movies recently to beat the heat. i got smacked and kicked a million times during Iron Man II. The movie was great, the experience was horrible!

by thegink

Chandra1979: Bakersfield, CA? if so, you DO need tips... that's my home town where you enjoy 95-110 degrees in the summer... we're not there anymore and are lucky to have an ocean nearby. GOOD LUCK!

by MelPB

Such negative comments. They're suggestions and I'm sure they have to plug-in their sponsors somewhere. I find the tips interesting and somewhat useful. Granted the suggestions are a bit expensive, but have you read a magazine, they do the same thing. Wal-mart's down here no longer carry maternity clothes, so I shop in the just my size section.

by Renee020804

Motherhood maternity is still semi-expensive, but they have tops for about 20 bucks and dresses(that are adorable) for under 50. I love motherhood maternity and if you have one close enough, wait until the clearance racks come out. Things that are cute and comfortable go on sale really quickly there. Good luck ladies and congrats on the baby=]]

by imbarbara3004

Go get some tank tops from Hanes that your hubby wears for like 6 dollars...they will def be long enough, they got me thru my pregnancy with my twins, and you dont have to get white, you can get the black and grey, but they are cheaper and longer than maternity sleeveless tops and much cooler.

by kamgemes

i can see that their suggestions pi**** you guys off as much as it did me, i mean really... we're not concerned about looked hot this summer, we're concentrated on being COMFORTABLE! i went to walmart and got myself a 14 dollar bikini.... also, go to your local thrift shops, pick up some oversized mens t-shirts, in white..... you can even cut the neck lining area to make it more loose up top, its great for on top of the bikini, and as they would say "looks cute" lol xo < />

by misspbbunny17

Thanks for the advice, but eh.....old navy maternity, target maternity thats where I go.... under 50.00 for these temporary outfits thanks!! :)

by partyof9

and what about the baby daddy... we need a cure for that too. sometime i love him other times i can't stand the sight of him

by onelove10910

I hear you Chandra1979, this Bakersfield heat is a killer!

by UnderAtree

This is absurd there are plenty of ways to keep cool without breaking the bank....and I'm sure all pregnant wants to look good there are more economical ways of doing it.......like Old Navy, kikis, and eBay....and of course getting information from other moms to be always helps

by Smithbaby2010

Are you people insane??? We are in a recession and you are telling us that the best deals on maternity wear are juicy couture and pea in a pod?? what planet are you people on??? Why don't you all come back down to good ole planet earth and offer some PRACTICAL advice, such as yard sales, thrift stores, clearance racks for bargains. Sheesh... idiots!! And this is not the first time I have noticed that some of the articles (i.e. strollers for example) are WAYYYYY out in left field with what they think the average person can afford to spend. I may just "unsubscribe" to this site since its not much more than a bunch of hot air.

by spydrwm68

Try finding a consignment shop. Richfield, Mn has one called Bellies to Babies. www.belliestobabies.net

by Auggbaby2010

I live in PHX AZ, now THERE'S some hot summers! Best advice, save the money for your AC bill, not ridiculous pricey maternity clothes/swimsuits you can only wear for a few months TOPS. If you have Kohl's where you live, they have GREAT maternity clothes, or just buy tanks at JCPenny's in the juniors section a size or so too big to accommodate the growing monkey in your belly. That's what I do and it's wonderful (yet there's no escaping the heat, even in the pool!)

by Mommakk

Ok so who is this site really for? I'm pretty most of us are not hollywood celebs or the people you see on that ridiculous show "Platinum Babies" on WEtv. When I got prego I knew that I would be dealing with heat especially here at Ft. Bragg. For clothing I went to stores that catered to plus sized women. Once a company slaps the word "maternity" on something the price doubles. My fave stores are Ashley Stewart (more fashion for you dollar than Lane Bryant) and Rainbow (very cute maxi dresses)

by Tnrosby

No one ever said that the Bump doesn't do promotions for vendors...

by Aleacus

I'm 7 months pregnant with triplets. I look like a school bus, I'm so huge!!!! I can barely even fit into my maternity clothes. This is insane. What person can afford a $ 200+ dress. Thats crazy for people who are trying to save money for this baby(s) future.

by madison1997

Cheap maternity clothes? Honestly, I've been going to the Good Will near my house once a week or so. You never know whats in inventory. When we are pregnant we only wear the clothes for 5 months or so. So all the maternity clothes I've bought look brand new! The other day I spent $20 dollars and walked out with 2 pairs or old navy jeans, 2 pairs of gap jeans, a super cute maternity jean skirt and a pair of shorts. Score!! I was so proud of my steal deal! Otherwise I've been buying the cheap non maternity dresses at old navy and walmart too!

by devitd1

Shopped at Goodwill and Ross... 3 outfits (3 tops and 3 bottoms) $47.50. No way I'm spending $200 on one dress... I could have 12 complete outfits with money to spare to buy some shoes!

by armywife310

haha! i was just reading the article to my hubby asking him who the heck is going to buy a $225 maternity dress! then i read the comments and about peed my pants! what were they thinking? im trying not to have to buy anymore clothes that are only going to fit for 2 more months and they want to suggest 1 dress that costs more than i paid for my babys new crib. nutso

by jmerae54@yahoo.com

Ditto on the overpriced maternity wear suggestions! Who really wants to spend that much on something you only get a few months use out of......I mean come on!

by nmeeks

I have bought most of my maternity clothes from motherhood.com and Target. Well, anywhere that is selling maxi dresses this summer too. It's funny how a lot of styles aren't maternity, but I can wear them anyway because of their cut! C9 by Champion also makes moisture wicking T-shirts that you can pick up for $9.99 each at Target. I buy the men's ones and use them as workout gear.

by marlamanarang

Seriously, do they think i am made of money. As it is i have a hard enough time finding materity clothes in maine, let alone cheaper ones... i dont see myself spending $200 on anything, or even $90 something.. Thanks for the GREAT ADVICE!! Lets be more realistic please!!!

by hallen0705

I am going camping at 21 weeks, in South Texas, thanks for the tips. Except the useless $200.00 dress, havent' heard of Target?

by mommyof3insa

Target is am much better option :-)

by jess1of7

Being a military wifey and expecting our first child, I am totally going to buy expensive dresses and other clothes! (NOT!!!!) I prefer hand-me-downs and target. I wanna save every dime I can for when the real expenses get here, like diapers and clothes (which don't fit after 3 weeks).

by SarahH88

Living in Orlando.. these tips help!!

by jlr23143

I'm getting so tired of these unrealistic clothing choices for pregnant women. Do they not understand we are saving money to take care of another life? I mean c'mon

by momo282010

Did this article just recommend both hydrating yourself and eating diuretics, which can cause dehydration?? What kind of messed up advice is that? Hydrate or dehydrate? Pick one? The best way to get rid of swelling (edema) is to go swimming. The water pressure pushes the fluid out of your tissues.

by amjra

i'm not spending $200 on a maternity dress that I'm gonna wear for practically 10 minutes...I got a few maternity dresses on clearance at Belk's for $4.99!

by ebmartin

I would not suggest the diuretics...swimming and massages help the most with edema. I'm having trouble getting my man to massage me, so thankfully my insurance covers it! And yes ladies, the $200 dress was absolutely ridiculous, but I assume they don't get much choice in what advertisements they have to throw in, so as to keep this site afloat. Have you checked out theKnot and theNest? Not all of their articles are the most frugal either. But these sites are pretty much an interactive magazine, and much like the mags you pick up in the store, they are catered toward trendy styles and modern issues, mixed with some tips and tricks. Read it like it's cosmo or vogue, not frugal living, then you can look past the price tag and get some cute ideas. I look at the dress and go "oh! that look's cute! where can I find something similar in my budget?" Or it spurs some other innovative solution. Plus, thankfully this site allows all of us ladies to help each other in the comment section. Remember to take EVERYTHING with a grain of salt. Hey, right now I can't afford Target, but that doesn't mean I'm going to give up on the whole thing...I still need clothes, and ideas. So help me out ladies, instead of bashing the site.

by JCTycoon

At least Bakersfield's a "dry heat"! We used to live there...now we're in HOUSTON!!!

by jessicaann7

Yes focus on that instead of the old navy and target that they also reccomended. Seriously I think some people just like to complain

by DaniLorello

to zeppelinette, Actually, studies have shown that there is about a .01% decrease in oxygen to the baby caused by lying on your back. Some women may have condition causing weakened veins that could have different results BUT your body would wake you up if you were sleeping on your back and its not able to properly push blood around your body.

by MrsJennyCraig

we have to spend money on the babies now not us.. i couldnt have afforded that before especialy not now...

by nikkig1010

ok, i am 8 months pregnant and i bought a bikini and shorts bottom from walmart...i am a 38D and halters help bigger busted women. my belly is wreaked with stretch marks and i don't care! i'm a mommy of 2 and one on the way and these marks are my mommy scars and i am proud...ne one with a prob with them can look away! haha!

by yellowskittle

I personally like how they've offered both moderately priced and inexpensively priced options. It's amazing to me how many people go with their husbands' clothes. Bless your hearts because I would drown in my husband's clothes! Also, I'm a professional so I can't get away with the sweats and t-shirts routine. I have found cute and affordable professional clothing at Motherhood Maternity ($14-$45) and I have been able to wear quite a bit of it even before pregnancy (great tops!). I also plan on wearing quite a bit of it after birth. The wonderful thing is my husband as been completely supportive of my wardrobe change and has bought me many of the pieces (it's our first child).

by jazzlady9

these clothes options do seem really expensive.... Ive found alot of nice materinaty clothes at the thrift stores by my house!!!! I mean if im only going to wear them for 3 more months why spend 30- 70 $ for something!?

by squeak12

JEEZE! I live in Texas and it gets so hot! not being able to buy those expensive maternity clothes makes it hard.

by chunkabunny20

My hubby bought me 'Look Who's Talking' and 'Looks Who's Talking Too' for Christmas and I am loving them now! Another good one is 'Knocked Up'. :)

by mrsdchastain

And I'm confused....i don't see $200 maternity dresses...maybe they put those in for fun!

by mrsdchastain

Can I lay out in the sun and if so how long do you think

by mariah246

the clothes theyre recommending are ridiculously priced. i have found that Old Navy and Kohls have a fairly good selection of maternity clothes and its priced in a range that wont make my husband cry when i bring it home.

by rachelberry07

I am twenty weeks pregnant. Is it normal to be so "achy"? It's mainly in my joints and it's not severe, but still makes me feel bad and not want to get off of the couch.

by bbysauls10

I spent $55 on my wedding dress, why in the world would I pay $225 for a maternity dress that I'm not going to remember after the baby?

by silvermoon2386

I was pregnant last summer in Va..super hot and humid..and pregnant again this summer...pffff....so I would say for staying cool, drink plenty of water! I also would tuck a wet cloth inside my bra when home or the corner of the bra! I spent tons of time in the pool, tried the ocean but to much walking through the sand-for my swim suit got at Motherhood on sale I think I paid 40.00, got some shorts, some sundresses short and maxi and some cotton tanks/tees. I did have afew nice outfits for going out or going to church. Old Navy, Gap and craigslist!! Not looking foward to another summer but this is my third time carrying in the summer...all humid states too..lol..make sure you put those feet up daily--foot rubs and pedis were my life savers!!

by princessnadia69

I have bought some very cute, lite, sun dresses for 7-15$ at flea markets and Ross and have been living in them! They weren't "maternity" dresses, but the fit so well and show off my bump very cutely! I am will hit 16 weeks tomorrow.

by HisBabyMama011

I have had AWESOME luck shopping for maternity clothes at Goodwill. It might just be a mid west thing, But Ive had some great finds, and nothing is over $7.99!!!

That is NUTS! I like the baby pool idea...but like others have said...What if you have kids and a water crazy dog?!?! I walk into maternity stores and cringe at spending OVER 25.00 on a pair of shorts let alone 80 for a flippin' dress!!! Bring on walmart tanks for 3.00 and shorts for 5!!!!

by Biocic1

Best clothes I have seen for maternity in my opinion are at target, it does suck to buy clothes you will only wear for a few months but what can you do, its worth being comfy. Walmart sucks, but thats just my opinion. besides the expensive dresses in this article everything else makes sense. Keep feet up, even my doctor tells me. Sucks having to stay home so i make sure if i go out it will be with ac in the car then ac in the location as well lol, unless i am going to pool or beach then i suck it up!

by missdaisie04

Best natural mosquito repellent - Mix 2 tablespoons organic olive oil with 20 drops of cinnamon leaf essential oil into a small spray bottle. It smells AMAZING, leaves your skin soft, and keeps bugs away! (And FYI - I usually get eaten alive in the summers.... I heard how toxic repellents are and did lots of research to find this gem)!

by jaymiegerard

Thank you Alisonada! Def not spending $200+ on a maternity dress I will only wear for a limited amt of time. Which is why I went shopping at Target today!

well, this is somewhat useful. Im due early august and i live in fl. its already hitting 90's. as for what im wearing and/or doing to keep cool. i've bought a bunch of summer cotton dresses. its all i wear. that way nothing is tight, i feel cute and theres plenty of breeze. not to mention a sun dress costs about $20 or less.

Ummmm idk about the super expensive swimsuits and dresses and i hate maternity clothes cause you only use them while your preggo thats why i buy regular clothes a size or 2 bigger but thats because i don't make huge bellies during my pregancies lol and i can always keep using the same clothes while i put down the baby weight :)

Attention Frugalistas: I highly recommend always going to department stores for maternity clothes because they always have stuff on clearance. Same thing for baby clothes and some of the basic necessities. I also recommend going to outlet stores because places like Carter's have tons of stuff for under $10 and you know the baby will not fit them after a year, so you can buy cute outfits without the guilt of a breaking the bank. Target is the best for maternity clothes, you always just gotta wait a few weeks for new stuff to get pushed onto the clearance rack. Hope this helps!! :)

For maternity clothes I have found that Ross, Target, Old Navy and Burlington Coat have the best. I bought me a few cotton dresses a few sizes bigger and wear tights to help with the swelling, cute and it doesn't look like I am prego. I also work full time and I have several boxes under my desk so I can put my feet up at any time. Keeping cool, anything cold to eat and soaking my feet when I get home. Good luck ladies!

Full of info and a very detailed exposure of tips you have there. I love it! So much! Okay, I have relayed this info to my wife in fact we read this together and the best tip for her which she takes seriously is the Icy concoctions tip. Yochanan Berkowitz
