How Big Is Baby?

I've just found out today I'm 4 weeks pregnant, I'm so excited and cant stop crying!! Silly me...

We didn't see movement (nothing noticeable at least) other than a heartbeat at 8 weeks. At our 11w3d NT scan we saw lots of movement (like dancing) and lots of naps as well as a heartbeat. So don't stress!

I also had an ultrasound at 7 weeks, and there was not much to see, although we did see the heaertbeat. Wait until the next one and you will be sure to se lots of movement! I just heard the heartbeat for the first time this week, I am 15 weeks and i heard the baby kick away as well!

On Nov 16th I found out I am pregnant. I am 40 years old, with a 15 year old daughter. Needless to say, I as well as everyone around me was so shocked. I think still today it really has not hit me yet. I am excited to see my ultrasound tomorrow.

NAUSEA IS NOT GOOD I HAVE AT ALL TIME EVEN 3 A.M. 7 AM 12 PM ITS NON STOP HOPE IT GETS BETTER

That's funny that they're talking about sleep cycles and kicking because she was kicking when I was falling asleep and she started kicking and then this morning she was kicking and that was roughly 11 hours.

I'm 5w today. I'm excited that our baby is an apple seed but bummed because I won't hear a heartbeat until Feb1st - 12w3d :( - 7 weeks to go.

I had my first ultrasound at 16 weeks. The baby was dancing all over the place, but everyone's pregnancy is different. If something was wrong the doctor would tell you.

I just went in for my first ultrasound and found out I'm pregnant with a healthy baby girl, we didn't see a lot of movement until right before the end of the ultrasound, so maybe it depends on the timing? I'm not sure I'm new at this as well...

my first ultrasound was a 8 weeks 3 days... also not moving really besides the heart beat... but they are just a little bean at this point... my second ultrasound just before 19 weeks was alot of fun b/c the baby actually has arms and legs and a face. There was some movement then but not a ton, I think he was sleeping but its normal that early on to not see alot of movement. Congrats!!!

about to hit the 7 month mark and i;m getting nervous. lol i find that humorous since i have four other children. But i've no name picked out ahhhh and it's getting increasingly hard to sleep at night with this little eggplant boxing inside of me at all hours of the night !!!!

12 weeks today. We are due on our 2nd favorite holiday, July 4th. We were married on our favorite holiday 10-31-09 and concieved two weeks before we were married. Getting pregnant was difficult and I am teary all the time just thinking we are already through our first trimester. Still have ALL DAY sickness but the seabands really work. GOOD LUCK EVERYONE! chrysmuel-yes its normal. I also went for an ultrasound at 7 weeks and the baby wasn't moving but the baby could have been sleeping. And they really can't do a whole lot moving at that point because they don't have reflexes yet. So don't worry! Your baby is having plenty of fun!

I am 19 weeks pregnant, and am just now starting to feel some movement, what they call butterflies. I have only gained 9lbs is this normal? I gained 45lbs with my first child, so i am a little concerned. everyone tells me not to worry, that every pregnancy is different, but i still worry

I am 30 weeks pregnant with my second child. My oldest will be 2 in Feb. I know I didn't start out as small as I was with her but it really bothers me when people make comments about how much farther along I look. Does anyone else just fine this plain rude? It's like they are calling you fat but they think they can because your pregnant!

Im glad my lil girl is a squash now! How exciting. your baby is ok. Don't worry. My baby girl moves all the time. on my last ultrasound she stretched out and played while the doc took a peak at the gender. Sometime sthe movements fell so weird to me.

I am 13 weeks along and I had my second ultrasound yesterday and baby just did not want to stay still. The baby kept covering its face with its hands and it made me laugh. It reminded me that both my husband and I are active people.

If you're having a girl, she now has more than 2 million eggs in her ovaries. Your baby is almost 3 inches long (the size of a medium shrimp) and weighs nearly an ounce. The baby also urinates the amniotic fluid he's been swallowing. This is all so amazing!!!

I didn't see my baby move when i was ten weeks so no worries about movement. before you know it you'll start feeling the little one doing karate moves in there. :)

I just had my 2nd ultrasound and the baby was so calm and adorable!!! I think I felt my first movement the other day... it was just a flutter but I'm pretty sure it was the baby. Exciting!!!!

I had my first ultrasound around 7 weeks and there was absolutely no movement at all as well.. just a heartbeat. Now (At 12 weeks) our little baby was very very active on the ultrasound..and heartbeat was hard to detect because of such movement. LOL! They are such sweet angels! Nothing to be worried about.. you'll see on your next ultrasound!

I wasnt able to see any movement, other than a heart beat until my last appointment at 9 weeks. And it was EXTREMELY hard to see.

We just had our first ultrasound on Monday (13 weeks) and baby was bouncing all around. Looking forward to meeting our little ball of energy!!!

I had an ultrasound at 8 weeks and 4 days and the baby wasn't moving at all either. It just looked like a little blob with a heartbeat. But just last week I had another ultrasound at 13 weeks and the baby was SOOO active. It was amazing to see his/her little arms and legs wiggling around. At 7 1/2 weeks I think it's perfectly normal for the baby not to be moving around yet.

I had my first Dr. visit Monday and heard my baby's heart beat. sooo sweet!!!

when i first found out i was pregnant they said i was 2-3 weeks but i went to the doc and he said i was 4 n a half weeks now im 6 weeks it was perfect timing because my fiance walked in when they told me i was pregnant i started crying(tears of joy)

I just had a ultrasound done last week (10 wks) and the baby was flipping and wiping it's arm across it's face. We were very excited. Don't worry, the baby will move in do time. You'll see....

I have my first appointment on the 27th. I will only be 5 weeks 5 days I hope this isn't too early.

At 7 weeks 2 days that is all I saw in my first ultrasound too.

At 8 weeks my baby wasn't moving much, seeing that heart beat is the best thing instead. At 16 weeks the kid was kicking and boxing so get ready.

If they weren't concerned chrsmuel than chances are good everything is great. We are on our 3rd, 20 weeks in fact, and I know that at the 7/8 week mark for all 3 babies there wasn;t a whole lot of rockin and rollin if any. Just wait until the next one and know that the haert beat at that time span is very telling and sounds like your having a great pregnancy...congrats!

Had my 1st OB visit & they tried to find the heartbeat, but it was too small to hear. I go back at 10weeks and she said we should be able to hear it load & clear then. I'm so excited :)

It is the most precious gift.

I have to wait one more week until my ultrasound...the suspense is killing me, esp since my little sweet pea's heart started beating!!!

I had a Sonogram done at 4 weeks and 4 days but nothing was seen should i be concerned?

It was a long time before I could honestly say that I felt the baby kick and know that it was not gas. My doctor stated that my uterus is on the anterwall. Meaning that you will not fell movement as early as some. Don't fret. Everything well be just fine and speak wtih your doctor about it. Usually at 7 weeks you can't feel that baby anyways.

i had a utra sound done about two weeks ago. im 17 weeks pregnant and the baby is kicking my but from the inside out. the docotrs said she moves more then the normal baby and thats y im always so tired. Wish she would sleep alittle more lol

I dont know if its wierd but at night while im in bed it looks like the baby is moving and i can feel him or her! i dont think i can yet well thats what the doctors say, but i dont know!!

this is to chysmuel: i am about 21 weeks and if this is your first baby like it is mine you will not feel the baby move and stuff until around your 18th week! savannah didnt move to much or really at all when i had my first ultrasound done!!!! i was 8 weeks with her when the first one was done and all i could see was the heart beating so yea that was how it was with me.... as long as you go to your doctor and they dont say anything about something being wrong you shouldnt be worried.... and trust me you will feel the baby move in no time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! hope i helped a bit................

Don't worry about it. Our little one wasn't doing anything at our 7 week ultrasound (except a heartbeat), but by the sequential screening (just shy of 13 weeks), he/she was DANCING! It was awesome. So, no worries!

It is completely normal to not be able to see any movement at 7 weeks. As long as you see the heart beat - the baby is fine. Just wait until your 12 or 14 week ultrasound -- the baby will be dancing up a storm!

I just went to my 12 week ultrasound yesterday and baby was moving around like crazy. This is my first so I'm not sure at all what is normal. I would definitely ask your dr if you are concerned. It seems like your dr would've said something if things didn't look normal. But I would still ask just to reassure yourself.

It took a while before my baby started to move for my ultrasound. i was worried too, but at the next one he was moving. the doctor said that it was normal as long as he had a good heart beat

Chrysmuel - I had my first ultrasound at 8 weeks and the baby wasn't moving at all (but we did see the heart beating). I believe that is completely normal, so don't worry. By 11 or 12 weeks your little one will be dancing around in that tummy of yours (although you won't be able to feel it at that time).

Tomorrow I will be 11 weeks! Im very excited!!!!!!

as long as you seen the heartbeat and your doc had no concern i wouldn't get to worried yet, i mean 7 weeks is pretty early for your lil one to be moving around anyway and just because you didn't see it on the ultrasound and nor may you feel it don't mean that it's not happening either. i am 37 weeks pregnant and even now my lil one don't move around that much but really she is i just don't feel her like some ppl do i get stress tests done 2 a week and she is great so don't worry yourself quite yet trust in your doc and what they think !!! good luck

I just love our baby! We saw the 12 week ultrasound and everything is great! I wish I could watch that ultrasound screen all day :)

to lorraine rosas: pain on ur right side, either side really is ok as long as it isnt severe and tihere is no bleeding. your ligaments surrounding the uterus are stretching not to mention our hips spread if u r 2 concerned call the dr. but i have had like cramping and pains since 10wks. im now 21w3d. now my legs r cramping. and as far as the other girl being worried about a 7wk old fetus not moving..... mine looked like a big peanut with a heartbeat. no 1 will c movement at 7 wks!!!!! but u will soon enough then you'll feel them 2! I got my afp results negative!!! yay and its a boy!!!! i have a 9yr old girl now I'll have both

I'm 15 weeks and I feel the baby move sometimes. I get those little butterfly flutters =) Mostly at night though. I had my Ultrasound at 13 weeks and (s)he wasn't moving but (s)he was sucking his/her thumb! so cute <3

I'm 17 weeks and the baby started moving a couple days ago! It was a sigh of relief to feel it because it is still unbelievable. We find out what it is it 2 weeks but I believe my motherly instincts are already kicking in telling me it is a BOY!

My first ultrasound I was 8 weeks and 3 days and my baby wasn't moving either. It wasn't until the last ultrasound at 11 weeks and 6 days where my baby was a hyperactive little guy dancing and sucking it's thumb. No worries!

ha you won't see your baby moving at 7wks! it may move but your not going to see it... I didnt' see mine move till 13wks when i had an u/s done.. normally the only other u/s you will get will be your 20wk one.. and you will deff see it moving by then

I had my first ultrasound when I was 12w4d ( I thought I was 10w4d) and the baby was moving around like crazy. He/she didnt even want to sit still for a good ultrasound photo. I think the further along you are the more movement you get and it just depends on baby. At 7 weeks 5 days, baby's arms and legs arent fully developed yet so that might be one reason baby isnt moving as much. As long as you got a clear heartbeat that means everything is fine. the little ones dont start moving visibly until around the last week or two of your first trimester. on our 13 week ultrasound the baby was even sucking its little thumb!

at my 7 wk ultra sound my baby looked like a peanut!! i didnt even see a heartbeat so from my experience, yes its very normal! at my 12wk us he was moving and now at my 22nd wk hes kickin my butt! try not to worry chrysmuel

Wow, I am 35weeks and I enjoyed my pregnancy sometimes it was a little stressful but overall it has been great.! I cant wait til my little man gets here he will be the baby king of the house with his older brother 2yrs old and he is my big king! I love them so much! almost time yay!

I heard the baby doesn't move much until you are about five months pregnant. You won't feel anything for a while either. I am almost 19 weeks and still haven't felt kicking etc. Baby is still tiny...

Chrysmuel, the baby was probably sleeping...my oldest slept ALOT while I was preg with her...almost every ultrasound her heartbeat was a little slower and she barely if at all moved! :) Stay positive :)

I didn't have any movement at my first sonogram either and it was about the same time, but I just had one at 13 weeks and there was lots of movement, so don't worry!

I'm FINALLY in my 2nd trimester!!! I am sooo excited! I am so worried about next weeks ultrasound, I'm really hoping my baby is still doing great because I know the first trimester is the most critical one. So pray for me you guys that my first bundle of joy is still hanging in there.

Yeah maybe at first there won't be a lot of movement...I think then the baby is too small so maybe it is normal. But I had an ultrasound at 12 weeks and the baby was moving like crazy. So just check with your doctor to be sure...and that will probably ease your mind as well.

This is my first pregnancy, and at 18wks I'm SO ready to be certain that what I THINK I"m feeling is really the baby..."they" say this should be sooner than later, and I'm excited for that first time when I can say for sure - that was Baby! i have had 1 ultra sound and im 29 weeks i would like another but i dont know how to have them give me one i just want to make sure that the baby is growing good and everything will be ok

had my first Dr. appointment yesterday. I had a miscarriage last June and didn't realize it until the ultrasound picked up a yolk sac but no baby. I have been praying all day long since I found out about this pregnancy hoping this baby was ok. My husband and I saw our baby for the first time yesterday. And even got to hear the heartbeat! I cried the whole rest of the day haha. I am 7 weeks 5 days pregnant. God Bless

I found out yesterday I am having a boy! He was active! He is measuring bout nine oz already and im 18 weeks and 5 days.

I just had my 12 wk scan yesterday and it was so exciting that the baby actually looks like a baby now instead of a bean. And also the baby was jumping around at one point was upside down with little legs in the air so cute. I can't wait to find out the sex!!

my first u.s he wouldnt stop moving jumping && bouncing && stuff but at myy 19 weeks u.s the lady said he was moving alot but he barely moved from wat ive seen! also i dont feel that much movement in my belly! i think its normal i havent asked my doc but idk we're all diff && so are our babies! =)

my baby does not like when im getting an ultrasound she just keeps moving around and putting her arms in her face. im almost 23 weeks now. at first i didnt really feel any connection to her but i feel like im starting to bond now

Anyway, yes the baby not moving is perfectly fine!! :) I also seen the lil heart moving and heard the beat, then i freaked when i seen the baby wasnt moving and asked right away "is that ok or normal" and the doc said "yes"! they are so little then that they sleep all the time and thats what is going on. If you were to poke at the baby it would wake up and move but the baby is way to little and you dont want to do that!! So everything is prefectly fine and will all be ok!! :)

I'm 7 weeks, 4 days. I've been very lucky with no morning sickness yet. Some nausea, but nothing I can't deal with (usually a little snack helps). My clothes are tight already :( We have our 1st appt next week and I'm super excited. I hope I can see more than a little bean, though I doubt it. I also have tons of questions for my Dr!

yeah... at our earlier ultrasounds there was no noticable movement besides the heart-beat. Then at the 20 week ultrasound!!! WOW... Im afraid we will have a very hyper child on our hands.. haha. Don't worry... you prob will start to feel it soon too!

Is it normal to be 14 weeks pregnant and still not feel the baby move? I have went to the doctor and we listened to the heart beat but I still don't feel the baby move. Is that bad? Should I worry this much?

That's totally normal! you won't really see movement until about 12 weeks.

I'm 19 weeks today and my baby does not stop moving. I just love the feeling of our baby moving around. our baby moves allot when my husband sing's and tallk's to our baby. we find out the gender of our baby next week. were so Blessed =-)

I've heard that a baby's heart doesn't start beating until around 10wks? I've also heard from other people that it starts around weeks 5 to 6? Which is true? I go for my first ultrasound next Thursday, and will be almost 7wks then.

chrysmuel, i'm sure it's fine. when i was pregnant with my twins there were ultrasounds like that. they were sleeping. and at 7.5 weeks, it's still wayyyy early. i just had my first..we thought i was only 9 and turned out to be 13. I make sure i drink something moderatly sugary (sweet coffee, soda, etc) worked with the twins. those little speed demons never slowed down on camera.

I had my first ultrasound at 9w5d and the technician pushed on my belly the baby straightened out and actually flipped over. Its little heartbeat was so strong. They told me I probably wouldnt see anything but I immediately started crying when I saw my baby move!

my ultra sound was very nice, i was more overcome with the heartbeat than seeing the little fetus dance. Though i do watch the dvd they gave me over and over almost everyday!

I had an US at 6 wks 3 days. We didn't see any movement but we saw the heartbeat. My feeling is, baby is still so tiny, I probably wouldn't have been able to see his/her little arms or legs moving anyways! I'm sure you're fine, but best to talk to dr.

My last pregnancy I had an ultrasound at 9 weeks and my little guy just looked like a blob with a heartbeat and when I went back a month later he looked like a baby and he was sucking his thumb and kicking, it was amazing how much of a transformation it was. I'm 9 weeks pregnant right now with our 5th and 6th children (twins after a vasectomy) and they still look like blobs with heartbeats. I can't wait until they are bigger and we can see them moving around in there.

It's so fun! We just had an ultrasound a couple weeks ago at 18 weeks; it's a baby boy! He kept kicking and kicking :) I'm 20 weeks now and still can not feel those kicks but I know there there. We have a 4D ultrasound scheduled on 29th! I'll be 21 weeks by then!

We had our appointment today.. now we are 13 weeks and we got to see the baby (actually looks like a human now) and got to hear the heartbeat. It's so amazing that something so small has all it's parts and a beating heart. Truly a blessing!

The most touching thing that i have encountered in this article is "If you worry about giving birth then consider what its like for the little one".Really i m sure the pain would be worth it.

As of today I am 8 week pregnant with my first, I go from being too casual to being completely overjoyed :D I am afraid at how much weight I could be putting on (around 10 lbs, yikes!) and he's not the health nut I believed, LOL!!! I do go to the gym 3 times a week, keep the cardio light. I am so afraid of complications, I can't keep letting my salty/cheesy cravings get the best of me! :(

On our first ultrasound we only heard the heartbeat no movement. It is still so small at that point. We are a high risk pregnancy so we have an ultrasound every 2 weeks. on our last visit at 13 weeks the baby was doing all kinds of flips. I told my husband she was getting ready for cheeleading (we dont know the gender yet) He said she was getting ready to play drums. hehe

At my 8 and a half week ultrasound (our first one) our little baby was kicking like Bruce Lee- and has at each ultrasound. However, our baby is measuring a little big for the weeks that the doctor predicted us to be at- so maybe the timing is off for us? Hope everything is fine with your baby- 7 weeks 5 days is still pretty early yet! Just wait til the poor doctors can't do ultrasounds effectively because the little thing won't sit still like mine! I'm at 16 weeks 5 days now, so I'm betting on feeling those Bruce Lee kicks anytime now!

I am 7 weeks preganant today. I am a little nervous though because I have had some very light spotting for the past week or so. I have my first doctors appointment in 2 days and I am hopping to hear my babys little heart beating and know that everything is okay.

At our 12 week u/s last week, our baby wasn't moving either. But this is normal. I think as long as you see & hear the heartbeat, you'll be okay. But Cristine is right- ask your doctor every question you think of. Write them down. Your clinic should even have nurses available for you to call with any questions or concerns. The u/s tech got our little bambino to move b/c she had measure the neck and our kid has already decided they're not a morning person. :)

My first ultrasound i didnt see movement either but my Dr. Said things looked good, then my second ulrasound at 11 weeks the baby was kicking and even raised its hand up when the Dr. was using the wand to view it... it was so cute =)

yes it is normal to not see the baby moving that early. iam 15 weeks and 4days and have yet to see the baby move on screen other then the heart. no worries it just depends on when they will start to move or not. i have another ultrasound may 18th and im hoping to see baby move then but we'll see!

I am at 19 weeks with my first child and was just told by my OB earlier this week that my Quad screening for Down Syndrome came back abnormal. 1/35. I took this test voluntarily and did not take the screening tests during my 1st Trimester. I was so worried after my doctor called but after doing some research and asking questions I feel more at ease. I am scheduled for an Ultrasound 2 in three days to see if there are any additional markers. I really had no reason to take the quad screening since my husband and I have no family history and I am not over the age of 35. If I could do it all over again I would not have taken that screening test. There is a high percentage of false positives with the test and I have heard several stories from women in my situation that had worse odds than I and the babies did not have DS and were healthy.

It's normal for baby's not to move. When they're sleeping, they move less. And you may not ever actually see him/her moving on an ultrasound. I've had three ultra sounds, I've only seen my daughter move at the latest one, at 19 weeks

I had my first ultra sound at what I was told was 10.5 weeks( which as of today puts me at 18 weeks) but..... I just had my first ob visit with my reg OB last thur and he did another ultra sound , and his messurments are coming in at me only being 14 weeks , so thats 4 weeks different than what I was toid perviously :( The problem Im having is the dates add up to me being 18 + weeks, what health issues could I be dealing with ? This is my 3 child , and Im alil scared to wait for 4 more weeks before returning to my Dr....

we just had our first ultrasound last week i was 11w 5d when we had it, Baby was moving so so much it looked like it was dancing. It made me so relieved to see that it was active and doing great!! I can't wait until our next ultrasound when we hopefully find out what it is!!

yea dont stress it! it was prolly too soon and your dr woulda prolly talked to you if they were concerned! We had our ultra sound at 11w3d and the baby was doing 360's! lol we saw the heartbeat but couldnt hear it!

We just had an US at 19wks. Baby was curled up the entire time & very little mvmt...which means we didnt get to find out the sex which we wanted to know soo badly!

Everyone keeps telling me that I have a small bump even though I've gained about 19 lbs. and am in my 7th month. My doctor says baby is growing fine but I'm still a little concerned because of the size of my bump...

Im 28 weeks pregnant. My Doctor said that I am still measuring 3 weeks ahead of what I should be. Apparently I was always measuring 3 weeks ahead the month of April as well, but the doctor never said anything about it to me then. She just said I was measuring good. This is my first pregnancy and I was wondering what exactly does that mean and if anything will done to see why? She said it wasnt a bad thing and nothing to be concerned with, but I was just wondering about it.

@chrysmuel Don't stress!!! My sister would freak out because for some reason every now and then the baby wouldn't move at all! And this was when she was further along to feel all of the kicks and jabs! She said sometimes she wouldnt feel anything for days! It was very stressful, but everytime we went to the doc they said everything was fine!! As long as you could see the heartbeat everything should be fine! I guess sometimes baby likes to be lazy too! haha!

To Chrysmuel: I had my first ultrasound at 8 weeks, and they saw the heart beating, but the baby wasn't moving just yet. I had another ultrasound at the beginning of my 12th week, and the baby looked like he was doing somersaults! I wouldn't be concerned... I think it's probably quite normal. =]

was in the hosipital this week and had an ultrasound done, the ultra sounds said I was 35 wks and the baby is 5.2lbs but im only 33 wks by my due date so what should i go back im confused

I found out today at 19 weeks, that my aminoic fluid is a little low, but we are having a baby GIRL!! I"m so excited, i had to share.

I had my ultrasound on May 3rd and I was 15 weeks and 4 days. We found out that we are having a boy!!! This is my third pregnancy so I figured I would get bigger more quickly and experience things more quickly this time. I felt the baby kick for the first time the other day...at 16 weeks and 3 days. to Chrysmuel... that is too early to see movement...don't worry about that... heartbeat is good....but that little fetus is way to small to be moving at 7 weeks.

I just had my 6 wk ultrasound done, and all we were able to see was a little ball of light, flickering (that was the heartbeat). Not much to look at, but it was still very neat to see!

Don't worry about baby moving that early...You will have plenty of months then they wont stop kicking you especially in your ribs! I'm 37 weeks and so ready for her to be here! Don't worry ladies you can make it, I thought I never would. :)

I just saw my baby move for the first time! I am 12 weeks today. I burst into tears. It was the most amazing thing I have ever seen. Such a miracle!

I wouldn't fret too much about not seeing him move at 7 weeks.... He really hasn't developed much yet in that you'd really notice him moving. Now, if you didn't see his heart beating, that'd be cause for concern! As the pregnancy goes on, you'll start to feel him move & get to see it on ultrasounds. But if you are really concerned, speak with your doc, ease your mind :)

i didn't get to see my lil girl start moving until i was 4 months and even then she was standing on her head the tech had to prob my stomach to get her to move

I had my last ultrasound with our fertility doctor yesterday. I'm 8 weeks, 2 days and only saw the heartbeat, no movement. Doc says baby's fine and growing beautifully. Don't stress!

@chrysmuel don't be alarmed the baby won't start moving around until your third or fourth month. And even then you probably won't feel anything if this is your first pregnancy. They say you won't feel it until later. But as long as the heart is beating you shouldn't worry

To chrysmuel - when i had my ultrasound at 6 weeks we could just see the heartbeat, i'm pretty sure that is normal, but they will call and let you know right away if there is a problem

Do not worry at 7w 5d there is not a lot to see, it generally looks like a grain of rice at that point. You wont see any movement yet, the heartbeat is the important part. I am an ultrasound tech and I wouldn't expect to see any squirming around at that point.

I am 6 weeks pregnant and I'm a little concerned because I have pretty bad cramps, and they are always at night when I'm sleeping. Last night I woke up with such cramps and lower back pain, I was nearly in tears. I'm ok during the day, just hits me at night. Is this normal? I went for my 1st appointment a week ago and told my doctor that I was cramping, and she said that was normal, but the cramps were not that bad then. Is anyone else experiencing cramps this bad?

My doctorcouldnt hear my baby's heartbeat so he scheduled me to go see him in 2 weeks. I'm scared he couldn't hear the heartbeat.

When I went in for my 10 week visit we did not see any movement, only the heartbeat I asked if that was normal (this is my first so I was scared) and she said the baby doesn't always move. I started to laugh and sure enough the baby moved! Don't be alarmed it is normal

CHRYSMUEL.....i had a sonogram done at 7 weeks and 1 day and there was no movement but you could see the heart beat. i had another one done at 8 weeks and there was stil no movement but there was still a heartbeat. the dr. said the baby was sleeping!!! and that it was normal!

When I went for my first ultrasound the baby wasnt moving either, so dont be alarmed. So I went back for my 4 week check up and the baby was basically doing cartwheels. So just give it some time, the baby will more than likely be moving around like crazy when you go to your next visit.

Chrysmmuel, I had my ultrasound at 7 weeks & 5 days as well. They dont have functioning arms/legs to move around so you won't see any movement just yet. I didn't see any movement on ultrasound until about 12 weeks or so

At 10 weeks my baby was swimming like crazy! We just had out second ultra sound and found out we are having a boy! he wasnt really moving much but sucking his thumb and she said his heartbeat was 145 which was PERFECT! So i wouldnt be to concerned about not seeing to much movenment!

I had my ultrasound last Tuesday! We're having a little boy. He was so active. Moving and twitching all over the place.

I am 30 weeks this Thursday. I cannot believe I've been pregnant 7months already I am feeling my baby girl kick my right rib and it hurts but its so beautiful h cant be mad. You will all be very grateful and will cherish your child like your own life...but even more securely. I haVe...surprisingly enough been going through pre-natal depression. Hope it goes away soon! one of the first few weeks of pregnancy I was reading a book that provides an illustration of what the baby's development looks like at that stage...I thought it looked like a dinosaur until it got it's little nubbins for legs & arms and now that they are moving those nubbins I am convinced the baby is karate chopping :D

The only movement we saw at our 20 week ultrasound was the heartbeat and the ultrasound tech and Dr. both agreed that the baby was in a sleep cycle during the ultrasound. I am now 32 weeks and Baby is doing great!

It is so funny, the produce section of the grocery store has taken on a whole new meaning every week! IT is amazing to hold the fruit or veggie of the week in your hand and think of the baby! I am 18 weeks and tomorrow is my ultrasound to find out the gender of the baby. It will be the first one that my hubby has been able to attend. I can't wait to see his face when he sees his boy or girl for the first time!

Chrysmuel- yes that is normal at least to was for me any way they (ultrasound techs) said he was sleeping... be only get ascarded when they can't find the heartbeat... for every ultrasound i had and i had 4 now.. the baby didn't move till my last one when he woke up half way through....so in other words yes that is normal ...

Mine was not moving when I had my first ultrasound at 8 weeks 2 days. They are too tiny and have not developed their limbs enough to move. I had another ultrasound at week 10 and still no movement. I didn't see mine moving until my next ultrasound at week 16. This is perfectly normal. I'm week 19 now and we'll hopefully find out what we're having next week.

That's completely normal if it doesn't move. I'm now 9 wks pregnant and they're holding off on the ultrasound until my 12th wk so that way we can see and hear the heartbeat. Also because it's not very active until it hits fetus-hood.

i just had my first ultrasound on july 6th, it was so amazing! it was moving it tiny little arms in punching motions and its little heart beat was very strong the doc said! And im so happy i read all of your comments i had to leave work early because of a wicked migrain that later lead to puking,numbness and blind squiggle vision (normal for me to have migrains that bad tho) lol cost me my job though considering im only 16 and was on probation at work lol :P

don't worry chrysmuel....I am sure your baby is fine. A little early to see the baby move. I am currently 26 weeks and all I still feel is fluttering no kicking or baby strenching like every says I should be feeling. This is my first pregnancy and the best advice I can give is to stay positive and take care of yourself and the baby.

I am 13 wks 3 days. I am getting huge. I think more then I did with my first baby. But I am excited none the less. I finally got over the ms just in time to have my hayfever flare up! But am still tired all the time. chrysmuel, dont stress so much about the movement thing, I had a transvaginal ultrasound at 8 wks and all we could really see was the hb also, not much movement at that stage. It will get to be more, the main thing is the hb is strong.

i had a second ultrasound due to my past pregnacy complications....but this time i didnt get the scare of my life to look at a lifeless baby on the ultrasound monitor...this time i got to see my son kicking twising turning..sucking and trying to beat up the ultrasound tech for disturbing his little nap...such a sweet and tender moment...

when the baby is that young, you don't typically see a lot of movement. so don't worry. as things progress you will start to see your baby move.

@chrysmuel, I had my first u/s the same time you did, My baby didn't move at all either, and he was just kicking at the second one and the most recent one, after we woke him up, he DID NOT stop moving. I think babies that early are just lazy ;) LOL I don't think you should worry.

I am 28 weeks and sex is starting to get really wierd for me. Its hard for for me to stay focused on the feeling of sex when the baby is moving and doing back flips at those exact moments. It makes me feel like he knows what we are doing. Not to mention the big belly that is a constant reminder that the baby is always around. Then its like I'm limited now to only doing certain positions. This is really frustrating!! Thank goodness this isnt going to last forever.

I believe that baby's learn they can move after the 8th week and then they just move around like crazy. On your next ultrasound you should be able to see movement. I am 16 and 1/2 weeks and I did not see movements at 8 weeks.

i am very anxious seeing as 3 years ago i had a miscarriage sept 06 and then went into early labor may07(lost my son) but im not considered high risk...and now im worried abt every pain and every moment i dnt feel my baby move...i found out before right before the labor started thru ultrasound my sec trimester scan.... im just a bit confused...i hv a friend its her first pregnance is considered high risk...maybe im just stressing way too much

I will be 19 weeks tomorrow and feel like I am stretching skin 24 hours a day in my sides and belly. I haven't felt any kicking yet, but I feel like he is twisting all the time and my skin is pulled terribly. Does anyone else feel like this?

@ chrysmuel..i think it depends on the person bc when i went for my 1st ultrasound i was 7 wks as well but they couldn't find anything at all now im 18 wks and like cristinaeugenia its dancing all over my bladder. So i think there is nothing to worry about but if it will make you feel better just talk to your dr.

I am almost 12 weeks and I had my first ultrasound at 7wks and 6 days. We found out we were having twins. All we saw was the hearts beating too. That is normal the doctor to us. You will see the baby move more once it gets bigger. Good luck.

im pretty sure you dont see much movement until about 14 weeks. but im no expert.

At 7 weeks the baby doesn't move; that's normal.

I had an ultrasound done at 7 weeks the baby is not big enough to be moving it's to early. There is nothing wrong as long as the heart is beating. Believe me when it starts moving you will feel it.

Well, I'm 18 weeks, we found out what the baby was AND the baby is 8 oz. Instead of the 6.7 oz. lol big baby?

We find out the sex in less than three weeks, i'm so nervous and excited at the same time!!! Hoping for a boy but will be happy either way!!!

yes, at 8 weeks, it is normal to just hear/see a heartbeat...our anatomy scan is in two days!!!

yea, when i was 6 weeks and 4 days i had my first ultrasound and she wasnt moving, just her little heart beating. Now im 33 weeks and she is DEFINENTLY full of energy, lol

the other day I had dark brown discharge?? I freaked out and called the doctor and they said it was common but im sooo nervous.....we go next tues for the first ultrasound...ugh has anyone else experienced this??

7 weeks 5 days is too soon to see the baby move...at least mine didn't move. I just had my 10-11 week ultrasound and the baby moved alot and of course was a lot bigger than a dot. I wouldn't worry!! You will be really surprised at how much he or she has grown!

your baby won't move for awhile and you won't be able to feel it until you are least 5 months. it is normal for it not to move so much you want to hear a heart beat and it will be going fast. :)

How big is baby :) I love the fruit idea and wow my lil' one is the size of a papaya. Hmmm I think I will be creative and scrapbook this idea somehow. I have not found out the gender yet but will soon. Exciting. Thinking pink :) !

the heartbeat is the important thing. They do sleep as well, remember. My baby didn't move at 8 wk u/sound but at 12 and a half weeks it was like a pinball inside. Your sonographer would have referred you to someone if there was a concern. Hard not to worry about everything but the professionals would have been concerned so you can relax

scared doctor said babyis smaller than she needs to be and im i first time mom having trouble dealing with it

I had an ultrasound when I was 8 weeks and 4 days and it didnt move. All what moved was the heart thats all i was concerned about because as of then I was wanting to make sure that the heart was beating. I am 11 weeks and 6 days and I have a friend that does ultrasounds and I dont feel prego anymore so I wanted to just make sure that the baby was okay. It was a very active baby. it was moving its arms and legs. So dont worry I thought that same thing to but when I had one this time it assured me that everything was ok.

at my first appointment, 7 weeks 4 days.. we didn't see any movement either. but last week i was 14 weeks and the little booger wouldn't be still long enough for the nurse to even attempt to try and find out the sex! haha

You shouldn't worry too much. Your baby was probably just sleeping. This baby I'm having was sleeping too, the last sono that I had. This is my 4th pregnancy and I can tell you from experience that they are not always awake, or playing when you may want them too, and they may also be awake when you don't want them too, lol. I wish you good luck with your pregnancy. Also if it makes you or anyone else feel better. I worry all the time about my pregnancy and about the last 3, but everything turned out fine for my last 3 & so far this one. It's normal to worry.

Hello, so excited, I went to the doctor Tuesday to have my second ultrasound; this time with my DH. It was so exciting, we were able to see and hear its heartbeat. I had some slight bleeding later than night, but my doctor said it might be because of the type of ultrasound I had, no need to worry. Luckily it wasn't bright red, just pink and it has gone away...phew! In answer to Chrysmuel, no need to worry I say, I was 7 weeks 2 days and I didn't see it move much either. It will totally start to boogie once it gets a little bigger :) I agree with cristinaeugenia ask your doc though, they may know. I'd like to ask hercbaby about the NT scan, was it scary? I have one scheduled for my 11 week too. Let me know :) Thanks!
