Breast soreness tends to come early in the first trimester, and is one of the first signs of pregnancy. The growth and changes in your boobs -- necessary to allow baby to feed after she arrives -- can cause major discomfort. Increased blood flow (caused by surging hormones, what else?) to your chest is probably making your boobs swollen and sensitive to the touch. The soreness should fade after your first trimester, though your cup size will continue to increase as milk ducts and milk-producing cells form.

Your best defense? A supportive bra. Take a professional bra consultant up on their offer, and get an expert fitting. Make sure to leave some room for growing!

Mine hurt like crazy for the week before I was supposed to get my period and then for the next 2 weeks, but in the 2 weeks since I haven't had soreness. I bought a bigger bra which helped alot, but I think the soreness just went away on it's own. That said, at the end of the day even the bigger bra feels too tight around my chest--I guess I need to go buy another bigger one (or get those bra extenders).

I still can't fully sleep on my stomach. They hurt! When in bras or out of them they're fine, but touch'em and I am on da roof howlin'.

My nipples got sore/sensitive first, now my boobs feel the same way. I am a stomache sleeper, and this is uncomfortable sometimes now.

I'm in my 4th week and my boobs are getting a little sore, I feel it alot when I'm going down stairs. But, I'm getting sudden, brief sharp pains in them too. Anyone ever had that?

MrsH42608, yes I've had the really sharp pains in my breasts, almost like they're being stabbed! Thanksfully it's not that often. I'm pretty mad that the overall soreness is back! My boobs were SO sore from about weeks 2 - 10 and now that I'm in my 13th week, they're back to being unbearable :(

I am also experiencing very sore boobs, with a bra and especially without. My DH can already tell they are getting swollen (he is not at all disappointed). Usually with AF I get really sore, but this is much, much worse.

I stopped taking my bcp, this is first month TTC. The day after I ovulated I had abnormally sore nipples. They have been sore for 5 days now. It's too early to test, I am wondering, is this good news?

As for the pill question, I too had really sore breasts the first two months or so after I went off the pill, esp. close to my period. My Gyn/OB reminded me that the pill regulates and pretty much levels your hormone levels off, so once I went off the pill my levels peaked and fell like they would have before I was on the pill. Therefore, sore breasts are a sign that your are having peaks in your natural hormone levels, a lot like when you finally become pregnant. Good luck guys! It took us a little over a year to conceive and if you are trying to conceive quickly, I rec. getting to know your cycle very well. It may take about three months to get consistent time spans after going off the pill, but after that really try to learn you cycle and peaks days and focus in on those. Believe or not, we tried for a year, but it was the first month that we said we were going to get serious about it and watch fertility days, and luckily we got pregnant. Don't get discouraged! Just have fun, trust your body and know timing is everything (average woman is have a max of 20% chance of conceiving a month).

ive yet to find out if im pregnant but two of my friends agree they are bigger, and they have been super sore lately.hey were sore yesterday when i took my bra off and today they are sore even in the bra. as my friend explained to me who has a 6 month old, she said that because of the new weight is why it hurts worse when they arent in a bra. im supposed to get my next period on sunday. so well see. but i think im pregnant! babydust to all!

I dont know if I'm pregnant yet. I'm almost 3 weeks late and my boobs have been sore, swollen, and also my nipples in the beginning hurt to the touch so badly. I just got over a head cold and I just read on here that, that is a common pregnany sign? I hope I find out soon if we are pregnant. I've taken 4 test these past two weeks and they all said negative. My husband said I was testing to early. So we are waiting till I'm a little over 3 weeks late. Hope to get some good news with that. Has anyone experienced a head cold and found out they were pregnant?

I'm 7 weeks and my boobs have been my #1 symptom --- they hurt SO MUCH it's crazy. I cannot be without a bra at any time --- I sleep in a sports bra. When I change from the reg. bra to the sports bra after work I swear, for those few moments they are 'free' it feels like I'm being stabbed in the boobs!!! lol!!! REALLY hoping that this will go away.

I had sore, growing boobs and itchy nipples when we first started TTC, but it was just a side effect of getting off the pill. I also had waves of nausea and fatigue. So, it's hard not get excited, I know, but try not to let yourself get worked up until you skip a period.

I knew I was pregnant when my breasts were extremely sore for longer than the usual 1-2 days before my period. Its terrible when I go swimming, the cool water makes me feel like my nipples are being stabbed with icicles! I have to limit my time swimming now. I am 8 weeks pregnant. Soreness in my breasts were one of the 1st pregnancy signs I experienced. Between first confirming the pregnancy and week 11 they were sore to the touch and the nipples were extra sensitive. The pain went away after that but now I'm in my 16th week and I'm waking up in the middle of the night because they are so sore. I was already a 38D before pregnancy now I'm into a 40D and they are still growing. I'm told that the soreness is caused because I've started producing milk. It was so bad last night when I woke up for a potty break I couldn't get back to sleep, it felt like someone kicked me in my chest. Hopefully that won't happen every night.

My breasts really aren't sore at all, but my nipples feel like they're on fire. They're the only thing that hurts. My poor husband is a breast man, and he can't even touch them now because my nipples are so painful. They're also constantly hard enough to cut glass...I don't know what to do!

I haven't confirmed pregnancy yet, but I am still about 6 days away from the potential arrival of AF. My breast have been very sore for about a week, much larger than normal, and warm to the touch. In the morning if when they hurt the worst and I feel that wearing a bra does help some. I am pretty sure from this that I am pregnant because I never have sore breast before or during my period.

My boobs got really sore on the outsides and underneath my armpits but I was ready to dismiss it because a couple months ago I had sore boobs and I wasn't pregnant that month. But that was an all-over soreness that mostly only hurt if I poked myself in the boob, whereas THIS time my boobs would actually ache without me even touching them, and that's pretty darn severe. So I thought something might be up because just for pre-AF boob soreness, that was extreme. And...yup! I got my BFP the next day.
