Q&A: Handling hemorrhoids during pregnancy?

I did everything I could to prevent hemorrhoids, but they still came. How do I deal with them?

The Bump Expert

For some women, hemorrhoids are just in the cards... and unfortunately, it sounds like you're one of them. Ease the pain with creams, suppositories, hot or cold packs (experiment to see what works best), witch hazel pads, and sitz baths (soaking the area in a little hot water). If constipation is the big issue, talk to your doctor about stool softeners. Then, once you've found a bit of relief, rest easy with the knowledge that hemorrhoids tend to ease up and disappear as your body returns to normal after delivery.

Eat healthily. Adding fiber in your diet is one of the best natural ways to prevent hemorrhoids. Foods high in fiber such as fresh fruits, vegetables, whole grains and oatmeal will protect you against hemorrhoids--by facilitating good digestion, cleaning your rectal walls and making defecation smooth and pain-free.-Kyle Thomas Glasser

I would suggest trying a Prenatal Cradle Maternity Support Belt! The support belt will help lift and hold the weight of the baby, which will help promote blood flow to that region! Check them out at www.perinatalcares.com, the owner of the company (Mona) invented all of the products and has 6 children of her own! I hope this helps!!
