Mocktail Recipe: The Bumptini

Introducing the yummiest mocktail yet (if we do say so ourselves).

Now that you're pregnant, chances are you'll have to lay off more than a few of your favorite things this holiday season. But no fancy party is complete without a fancy drink, right? Don't sweat it. Natalie Bovis-Nelsen -- renowned mixologist and author of Preggatinis™: Mixology for the Mom-To-Be -- has not only put together a book jam-packed with great alcohol-free drinks, but she's also designed one especially for us! Say hello to The Bumptini -- a delicious blend of pomegranate, ginger, and lemon flavors. Check out the yummy recipe below and give it a whirl at your next holiday party.

The Bumptini
3 ounces pomegranate juice
2 teaspoons white sugar
1/4 teaspoon freshly grated ginger
3/4 ounce freshly squeezed lime juice
1/2 ounce lime-flavored club soda
1 tablespoon raw brown sugar (garnish)

*1 lemon twirl (optional garnish)

Rim a martini glass with raw brown sugar by rubbing the rim of the glass with a lime wedge while holding it upside down, then dipping it into a small plate of sugar. Set aside.

Muddle the ginger and white sugar in the bottom of a cocktail shaker. Add the juices and ginger and ice, then shake vigorously. Gently strain into the sugar-rimmed glass, then top with club soda or ginger beer.
*Lay a lemon twirl across the surface of the drink.

We tried this mocktail at home, and I'm happy to report it was delicious. I thought it was going to be too sugary, but it was nicely balanced. We used plain club soda and omited the lemon twirl garnish. And to go along with our ladybug theme, we added fresh blueberries for the spots. Yum!

Wow thanks for such a useful post here. I must say that I was searching for such an information for quite a long time but your blog is the first one where I have found something. Of course it is written in Italian and I must translate this stuff but it's worth of it. Thanks a lot and keep publishing such useful posts in the future too! Greg from impotenza rimedi
