Nope. We know your skin can do some pretty wacky stuff during pregnancy, but hold off on a chemical peel until after baby arrives and you’re done breastfeeding. The chemicals used in the process haven’t been proven safe for baby.

The only exception is lactic acid, which is considered okay to use during pregnancy because it’s found naturally in your body. It also can be gentler to your sensitive skin. If your doctor approves it, you can have a lactic acid peel. You may also be able to use some at-home products to liven up your complexion, as long as you get the go-ahead from your OB to use those, too.

I would say no, but if you would like to consult a genetic counselor who specializes in pregnancy risks from chemicals, please call 1-800-733-4727. This is a free and confidential service, so there is no need to feel embarrassed. They helped me a lot!
