What's the schedule for prenatal appointments throughout my pregnancy?

Re: What's the schedule for prenatal appointments throughout my pregnancy?

The Bump Expert

Over the course of your pregnancy, you might start to feel like you live at your doctor’s office... and that’s a good thing. Studies show that mothers who visit their doctors regularly during pregnancy deliver much healthier babies on average. Scheduled doctor visits will of course vary depending on your physician and your own physical state, but these general guidelines should give you an idea of what to expect:

4 to 28 weeks
One visit per month (every four weeks)

28 to 36 weeks
Two visits per month (every two to three weeks)

36 weeks to delivery
One visit per week

re: Q: OB appointment schedule?

How do you know how far along are you? I haven't been to the doctor yet, but I have heard that you wait till you're 6-10 weeks. The problem being is I don't know when these people started counting. From conception date? I believe I conceived first full week of Feb. So how far am I?? Help, little lost here!

re: Q: OB appointment schedule?

I would make an appointment soon...that way your MD can decide how far along you are. GL!

re: Q: OB appointment schedule?

Call the doc and tell them when your last menstral cycle was and they will give you an estimated due date and when you get your first ultra sound they will be able to give you the exact due date

re: Q: OB appointment schedule?

If you know the date your last period started, take that day, add 7 days, and subtract 3 months and that is your due date. As for how many weeks you are, just count the number of weeks since you started your last period. Congrats!

re: Q: OB appointment schedule?

I've been pregnant 4 times and I went to my first OB appointment at different times for each of the them. First, was after 12 weeks. 2nd, was at 10 weeks (but was miscarrying). 3rd, was 5 weeks (but miscarried). 4th, will be at 8-9 weeks (couldn't get in any earlier because of work).I don't know my exact date of my last menstrual cycle so I'm not positive how far along I am. An Ultrasound will help determine that.

There is a due date calculator on this website that was right along with what my midwife said. You start counting from the first day of your last period. I scheduled an appointment with my Dr. as soon as I took the pregnancy test and had a vaginal ultra sound at 7 weeks.

I called a couple of days after I found out I was pregnant, which was before my missed period, and the OB GYN scheduled an appointment for me for when I will be about 8 weeks along. I'm so excited to hear the heartbeat!!

Typical OB appointment schedule?

My last period was January 23 and my due date is Oct 30th. I know exactly when I conceived, early early Feb 5th. Both period & measurements during my 6 week ultrasound confirmed it. (My best friend is a sonographer, thats why I had such an early ultrasound.) But I didn't see my OB until I was 10-11 weeks (had to wait on insurance). I just went to the OB this week and got to hear the heartbeat. Good luck!

around 36 weeks, they do the Strep B test. they take a culture, if you test positive they know to give you anitbiotics in your IV during labor so it doesnt pass to the baby!

My OB told me to count 6 weeks from the first day of my last period. That would mean you are about 6 weeks pregnant. My first OB appt they did an ultrasound and based on the first day of the last period and the babies actual measurements it was only 1 day off. Definately call your OB soon and they can walk you thru their protocol but most OB's stay 6-8 weeks

in regards to determining how far along you are- you start counting week 1 from the first day of your last menstrual period (LMP) Then you schedule your first OB appt at around 8 weeks of pregnancy.

Typical OB appointment schedule?

I made an appointment as soon as I found out, that's what the HPT instructions said. My OB/GYN told me I was 5 weeks & 5 days. The appointment was pretty straight forward. I answered a questionnaire about family history, got a blood and urine test, the doc explained what supplements to take (or not) and finally the doc asked and answered questions.

The 40 weeks of pregnancy actually counts the first 2 weeks before conception (they count the week of your period, and the week in-between). So when you miss your period, you're 4 weeks pregnant. Usually doctors recommend that you wait 1 full week of missing you're period (now 5 weeks pregnant) and then call. You should see your doctor around 8 or 9 weeks pregnant. Hope this helps. Good luck.

Typical OB appointment schedule?

Hello Ladies. I am new here and learned 2 weeks ago that I am pregnant. The first day of my last period was Jan 11th, but I had long menstrual cycles and ovulated on day 28 or day 29 of a 40 day cycle. SO, by the more standard "due date" calculations I am more pregnant that I really am. I would have conceived on Feb 8th or 9th and am only about 4-5 weeks pregnant. Can you help me understand why you would count the time between your period and ovulation as part of your pregnancy (part of the 40 weeks) when you are technically not pregnant yet? I am a total newbie and just want to know how far along I am - my next OB/GYNE appt is in 2 1/2 weeks and I am sooooo impatient :o)

My LMP was January 23rd. I am in my 7th week of pregnancy right now. I have my first appt. on Monday, March 14th. I can't wait. I hope they do a sonogram. We are very excited to be parents and this is such an exciting time. This is our first child. I have no idea why the first 2 weeks is considered part of the 40 weeks, but it is! Good luck to all. I am sure I will be on here more often!

I scheduled my apt as soon as I found out, about 3wks. My Dr. didn't do an ultrasound for two weeks later( which we just had a black hole). So, I have another apt in two weeks and should be able to hear the heartbeat..we are so excited.

Typical OB appointment schedule?

OB schedule often depends on your level of risk. Most people have their first full OB visit at 8-10 wks. I had an ectopic pregnancy that ruptured a few months back and my GYN told me to schedule immediately when I thought I might be pregnant.Surprisingly, this didn't take long. I was scheduled immediately for a confirmation test (which turned out positive), and an ultrasound to make sure implantation was in the uterus. Thankfully, all was well, estimating I was siting pleasantly at 6 wks, and I have my first "real" OB appointment at 8 wks.

My first appointment was at 6 weeks, and I've been seen every 2 weeks. ( I'm almost 10 weeks now) I had my first ultrasound at 8 weeks, 4 days.
