The Bump Expert

Lucky you! Just don’t tell your pregnant friends about this.

You have nothing to worry about. Pregnancies come in all shapes, sizes and configurations. Some include every pregnancy symptom in the book; others have next to no issues. (You’re heard those stories of women who give birth without ever realizing they were pregnant, right?) And even though you’ve done this before, it’s perfectly normal for your body to be responding completely differently than it did the first time around. Some moms have a tough first pregnancy and an absolutely easy second one. It’s also possible to have an easy pregnancy the first time around and feel sick as a dog during round two.

How you feel during pregnancy might also be a reflection of what’s going on in your life. In other words, maybe you’re in a happier place this time around. If a pregnant woman feels good with other stuff in her life, pregnancy symptoms often don’t seem to bother her as much. But if she’s under a lot of stress, even minor pregnancy symptoms can seem like a big deal.

To ease your mind about baby’s well being, tell your OB about your concerns at your next prenatal visit. He should be able to reassure you that everything’s progressing healthily. And that reassurance can help ease your mind.

Is a symptomless second pregnancy normal?

I'm 15 weeks with baby #2 and have had almost no symptoms. I've been a bit emotional, but no sickness, food aversions, or anything. It was a little scary at first because I was sure that my hormones were all wrong, but everything is going great. Baby has a strong heartbeat and looked great on the u/s.
