Breast soreness tends to come early in the first trimester, and is one of the first signs of pregnancy. The growth and changes in your boobs -- necessary to allow baby to feed after she arrives -- can cause major discomfort. Increased blood flow (caused by surging hormones, what else?) to your chest is probably making your boobs swollen and sensitive to the touch. The soreness should fade after your first trimester, though your cup size will continue to increase as milk ducts and milk-producing cells form.

Your best defense? A supportive bra. Take a professional bra consultant up on their offer, and get an expert fitting. Make sure to leave some room for growing!

Mine hurt like crazy for the week before I was supposed to get my period and then for the next 2 weeks, but in the 2 weeks since I haven't had soreness. I bought a bigger bra which helped alot, but I think the soreness just went away on it's own. That said, at the end of the day even the bigger bra feels too tight around my chest--I guess I need to go buy another bigger one (or get those bra extenders).

MrsH42608, yes I've had the really sharp pains in my breasts, almost like they're being stabbed! Thanksfully it's not that often. I'm pretty mad that the overall soreness is back! My boobs were SO sore from about weeks 2 - 10 and now that I'm in my 13th week, they're back to being unbearable :(

I am also experiencing very sore boobs, with a bra and especially without. My DH can already tell they are getting swollen (he is not at all disappointed). Usually with AF I get really sore, but this is much, much worse.

I'm 24 weeks and the edge of my nipples have been particularly sore, like they're stretching- I've found that BAG BALM is very soothing. It comes in a green tin and I think its a product of Vermont used often for cow utters. I also have a horrible horrible rash of hives that's covering most of my body so that could be contributing to the soreness on my nipples - however my nipples do not have hive on them and they feel more tender-sore rather than itchy-painful.

The pressure from the shower water causes me to wince and back away. I honestly cannot remember what it was like to have normal boobs - both in size and feeling. I am 24 weeks and had very sore brests the first few weeks of being pregnant thats how I knew I was but now my nipples burn so bad in the evening on and off and in the middle of the night sometimes I wake my husband up because I'm making noises in my sleep from the pain it feels like someone is holding a lighter up to them and they just burn usually for a few min then it goes away. I hope it gets better I really do! I was thinking it was from sleeping on my belly and rubbing on the bed but it happens when im not in bed in the evening sometimes as well.

I am 24 weeks now and have had nipple soreness for quite a while. However, for all of you that have had it, buy the Medela Tender Care Lanolin cream. I tried it and it completely soothes them. I haven't had a problem with them since and I have recently even been able to not put it on and feel ok. I also find that when I get cold they hurt, the cream helps with this but I also have a heating pad on hand that relieves the pain right away. Just trying to make it any way we can! :)

16 weeks pregnant and my boobs are back to hurting! It was one of the first signs I thought I was pregnant and sure enough, I was! They hurt for a few weeks, went away, and now within the past week or so the soreness is back! Ugh! Nipples are really sensitive and dry, but cocoa butter seems to be doing the trick.

mine hurts too. its really annoying because all of a sudden my nipples will tighten and ache at the WRONG times. the only thing that works is pressure or a warm compress. Geez this is my 13th week so i hope that it goes away soon.

Mine are still sore and I'm almost 15 wks. It went away for a while but they came back full force and almost worst than before. I have gotten bigger bras b/c I was falling out of mine. But I have to sleep in a sports bra or they just hurt to much. Oh and they are sooo much heavier that doesn't help either.

But I hate it when my nipples get hard and brush against something like the sheets when I'm in bed. I finished my BC pack this month, and my hubby and I decided to keep off of it and start trying for a baby. :) I ovulated about two weeks ago. My niples have had a tingley, slightly itchy feeling for the past week. Could this be a symptom of getting off the pill, or an early sign of pregnancy? 16 weeks. Mine have hurt since before I found out I was pregnant. Mine have grown to the size they were when I delivered our middle child. When I got pregant with her they were sore, but not nearly as bad as this time, of course I was a C when I got pregnant with her and only went to DD. This time I was a small B and I'm already at DD. I think the pain has mostly been the fac that they have grown so much so quickly. I dread that last trimester and seeing how much bigger they are going to be. Best thing I've done for them though has been moving into my old nursing bras and getting a couple of new ones. But my poor sweet hubby is not adjusting so well with the soreness. He even gets near I'm practically giving him the evil eye. As for nipple soreness, bag balm works wonders.

7 weeks. Mine were sore about 4 days before my missed period so I thought.. "here we go aunt flo is back..." , but I never started to my surprise! It seems like they've started hurting worse and worse with the shooting pains and everything. :( For me though I can't wear a bra because it feels like if I get one that fits it pushes my nipples down and they don't like that! If it's too loose then it rubs them raw and they don't like that either! :) Also, if I sleep on my back they hurt more than anything else. It feels like I have to mold them back into place instead of spread over my chest. lol Anyone else have that problem?

At 14 weeks, I think I have Raynaud's (vasospasm) of the nipple. Basically if I get cold or if my nipples get cold, the tips turn white then sometime a little blueish. It burn like hell for a few minutes then goes away. I'm nervous cuz I know that this can continue on to breastfeeding but there's no way my baby is gonna have even a drop of formula! So if any of you have this nipple pain like mine, it could be Raynaud's. Vitamin B6 or some blood pressure pills can help. Check out Dr. Jack Newman's website for more info on the sore nipples if you have it.

One of the best cures for sore breast is cabbage leaves--really. There's something within the leaf that relieves soreness immediately. Cabbage should be cold from refrigeration (coolness feels good too). Place leaf on breast, do not cover nipple, with leaf edge toward chest. Maybe two leaves per breast depending on your size. Leave on until leaf is wilted or very warm. I read this in my Mocha Manual placing inside my bra. It was wonderful relief.

My boobs have been sore since week 4, and I'm 13 weeks now. I knew this was part of the routine, so just dealt with it. Then, I went for a bra fitting just yesterday (12 weeks 5 days), and realized I've gained 2 cup sizes!! I had no idea. I've always been small in the boob department, so didn't think I'd gain size so quickly. My best advice, ladies; go get your bust fitted! My boobs are still sore, and probably will be for awhile, but the right bra size has helped SO MUCH!

Oh My goodness! before I got pregnant i could almost run without a bra...now I have them on lock-down 24-7. I found wearing a sports bra to bed helped with the pain while I slept and I have continued to wear the sports bra to bed into my 6th month. Luckily, the paid did go away gradually around week 16 or so.

I am normally a D / DD cup depending on the bra. I am almost 6 weeks pregnant and my poor boobs are sore all the time. I also tend to sleep on my stomach and it hurts them too much, even if I lay on my side and they touch the bed it hurts :( . I also swear they are changing shape, is that normal? When should I go for a bra fitting and where should I go? I doubt Victoria's Secret is gonna be any help lol.

The first sign of pregnancy for me was when i was jogging on the treadmill and my boobs were aching!! it subsided a little bit but im at 9 weeks and there is definite tenderness to the touch...looking forward to them getting bigger though, and im sure the DH is too!

I am 23 weeks with my third pregnancy and each one has been completely different. My first child I had usual tenderness in the beginning and grew 2 cup sizes. My second, lactating was my first sign of pregnancy. I was in the shower and Ka-bam...my milk came in full force in both sides. It really shocked me, after that I failed 2 at-home pregnancy tests. I eventually found out I was pregnant and continued to lactate throughout the entire pregnancy and had to wear leak guards and deal with normal breast tenderness. I also increased 2 cup sizes. Now 23 weeks pregnant, I'm having major tenderness issues and feel like I may even have a clogged milk duct in one side. It's hot to the touch and I suspect infection. Warm/cold compress alternating has helped as well as Lansinoh cream. Bras hurt really bad, so I've switched to knit sports bras or a couple of old sleeping nursing bras I've had from before. This time, I've increased 3 cup sizes and am extremely self-conscious about my large bust line...especially in the ever-revealing maternity tops! What's up with that?!

I am currently 8wks pregnant and my boobs hurt so bad first thing in the morning my poor fiancee puts his arm around me while he is still sleeping and I will wake up to the pain of it and push his arm off of me. Then as the day progresses they don't hurt so bad, they still are tender but nothing like what they are first thing in the morning anybody with similar symptoms

I cant take it anymore!!!!! Im 12 weeks pregnant, my breasts get burning hot and hard. I take off my bra and as long as im not moving around its ok. but the hottness and when my other child bumps them i want to die.. so i put a frozen pack of peas and oh MY GOD,,, FEEEEEEEEELS GOOOOOOOOD!!!!! I thought that I was pregnant when my boobs first began to become sore. My period wasn't supposed to start for another 2 weeks and I usually don't start having breast pain until 3 days before. Since I was sexually active it brought on my period alot sooner than expected. Don't freak out! It may just be a sign of PMS.

My breasts hurt constantly! I'm only about 8 weeks along (by my best calculations), and they're killing me! Sometimes they're tender, and sometimes I have a STABBING pain! Does anybody know how I might get some relief? It doesn't matter if I wear a bra, or not, or touching them, or not. I am a mother of two and with the current pregnancy I am only at a little over 6 weeks. With both of my boys me breasts did not hurt until my milk came in. With this one, for the last 8 weeks or so they have been sore but for the last two weeks it feels as if somebody has socked me in the boob repeatedly. I can't get comfortable. A bra helps with the intense pain but they are always sore. I don't get it. I know every pregnancy is different but, sheesh. Lol I gotta find a way to relieve this pain.
