Cramps during early pregnancy?

I’m having a lot of cramping and I am in my first trimester of pregnancy. Is something wrong with either me or my baby?

Re:

The Bump Expert

Probably not. Lower abdominal cramping is just one of those things that happen (yep -- another one) when a baby is growing in your belly. Doctors call it round ligament pain. See, your uterus is getting bigger every day (so is baby!), and the muscles and ligaments supporting it are stretching out to accommodate the changes. That stretching can bring a bit of pain, especially when you change positions, cough or are particularly active. These mild aches and jabs are normal and (sorry) may persist as your uterus continues to grow. To get some relief, scale back the physical activity and avoid cramp-inducing positions. Also try a warm bath, or simply stretch out and kick up your heels -- resting comfortably should ease the pain.

You needn’t worry unless the pain is severe, constant or accompanied by bleeding or other unusual signs. If you have any of these symptoms, call your doctor right away.

re: Q: Abdominal Pain?

I'm so glad to find some information on this. I've only just discovered about a week ago that I am pregnant and I've had these pains for about 3 weeks now. It's the only symptom I've had. I've been so concerned and since my doctore won't see me for a couple more weeks, thank you so much for this information!

re: Q: Abdominal Pain?

Thank you for that info, I've had the cramping on and off and I have to wait a few more weeks also for my first Dr.'s visit.

re: Q: Abdominal Pain?

This is so good to know. I get mild cramps during the day when I stand up or change positions at my desk. I am so relieved to know it is not a problem!

re: Q: Abdominal Pain?

I had period-like cramps from about weeks 4-7. My doctor said it's nothing to worry about, as long as there is no cramping.

re: Q: Abdominal Pain?

This is all good to know. I just found out I am pregnant a few days ago but I also have those period like cramps and they were starting to cause me concern but knowing that they are normal makes me feel a lot better. Thank you.

re: Q: Are My Cramps Normal?

My doctor made sure that I knew this is normal. He said that it's fine, as long as the cramping doesn't get worse than my normal period. If it's worse, then I'm supposed to call.

Thank you for this...good to know. This is my third pregnancy (second was a miscarriage) and I was getting a little nervous, and forgot from the first baby what it feels like. My first doctors apointment is 2 weeks away, so...good to know!

Thanks for putting my mind at ease. I have these and my DH told me it was all in my head, then he got worried. I told him there was nothing to be worried about unless it gets bad.

This is pretty good to know. Just a few days ago I found out I was pregnant and I have been cramping for about a week or so and we dont go to the doctors for two more weeks. My family has made me a little nervous so I am happy to know I am not crazy.

re: Q: Are My Cramps Normal?

I'm so glad to know that I'm not the only one having this problem. I'm about 5 weeks pregnant and have been having really dull cramping since I found out last week. Right about the time I was going to miss my period. I was getting worried when it didn't stop after a couple of days this is good to know that I don't have to worry unless they are bad. Thanks everyone

re: Q: Are My Cramps Normal?

Ditto, Why don't the baby books shout this from the rooftops?! I'm pregnant for the first time and thought I was getting my period, now I'm into my 6th week and still cramping, but not its more mild cramps. Around the time I think there was implantation I was doubled over with pain. I never knew about this!

re: Q: Are My Cramps Normal?

Fist I want to say thank you to all you ladies on here. Just got married March 1st and AF was due last tuesday took two HPT and they both came up Positive!! And I have been alittle worried cause i have been having cramps almost like im going to get AF, but they are not as bad. and hearing all of you say you have had the same feelings REALLY puts your mind at ease. Also Im not sure who said it but yes THIS IS SOMETHING THEY SHOULD WARN 1 TIMERS ABOUT!!!

sharonnmik | March 29 , 2008 5:31 PM

re: Q: Are My Cramps Normal?

Well everyone's comments have been a little easing for me as well. I took 2 HPT as well to make sure if I was prego (period was just due for me around the 2nd of April) and couldn't wait for me to miss my period to actually find out........the tests are POSITIVE!

re: Q: Are My Cramps Normal?

I also just got married March 1st and found out a few weeks after we got back from the honeymoon that I was Prego! We are so excited! I go to the doctor this wednesday April 9th! I can't wait. I felt the same cramping and lots of bloating. I am starting to get better with the nausea though.

re: Q: Are my cramps normal?

This is interesting that the this is so little talked about. I'm pregnant for the first time and the RN told me it was normal. I talk to my sisters and the told me they experience the same thing and no one told them it was normal and they were scared. Their kids are 15 and 13 and the are just find out that this feeling is normal.

re: Q: Are my cramps normal?

I'm happy to see I'm not the only one! I just found out that I'm pregnant over the weekend and I've been hurting for almost 2 weeks (we're estimating I'm at about 5 weeks). The note about coughing helps me too, because I'm still getting over a cold that has me coughing on a fairly regular basis.

re: Q: Are my cramps normal?

OMG that is so great to know!!!! The cramping was really worrying me its just a dull kind off off and on ache.....I was really worried. Four positive pregnancy tests!!! That is pretty positive but you read all these things and they are a little scary... thanks for giving me a straight answer.

this all helps so much, i just found out a few days ago that im pregger too and i have had cramping as well. i dont remember what it was like with my first child and my second one resulted in a m/c so im very relieved to know that the baby will be ok this time

re: Q: Are my cramps normal?

knowing that i'm not the only one who was freaked out by this is very comforting. i was a week late and wasn't even going to take the test because of the cramps. But I did and after 3, all positive, we are going to the dr on the 9th. Best I can figure I'm in my fifth week.

re: Q: Are my cramps normal?

I had cramps my entire first trimester. They went away in the 2nd. I just hit my 3rd trimester and they're back!!! I have my check up on Thursday and will ask if that's normal, but i'm guessing it is. They're definitely not as bad now as they were in the beginning, but at the end of the day, I def. feel them again.

Sharp pains in my V

So lately if I move a certain way, not sure what way that is exactly just happens, I get this really sharp pain in my V. It kinda feels like it's spreding or seperating. I am only 26 weeks and I am not sure if this is normal or not... Anyone else with this problem? I have a doc appointment on the 17th I am going to ask then, but just wanted to see if anyone else was experiencing the same thing.

re: Q: Are my cramps normal?

I have been terrified with these cramps! Especially since I had a miscarriage the first week of January this year....it felt much more extreme but pregnancy last time felt this way and since it's my first..not sure what is normal...seeing all of these posts really helped because the occasional..."It's totally normal" even from the doc wasn't so helpful after just experiencing a miscarriage a few months ago. Now I am in my 8th week...slowly allowing myself to get excited again...still reserved yet excited :)

cherrybaby | March 24 , 2009 6:30 PM

re: Q: Are my cramps normal?

I really appreciate the information in this article. I have been so worried about the baby lately. I've been experiencing mild to moderate cramping for the past 2-3 weeks and I'm 8 weeks pregnant today. The cramps come and go, so they're not constant, but to know that they're probably normal is a huge weight off of my shoulders.

re: Q: Are my cramps normal?

The cramping was the first symptom I had along with sore breasts. I NEVER cramp until after I start my period and had been feeling them for about two weeks, but no period. After finding out we were pregnant, I began to worry. I am so glad others have this symptom and know that it is normal!

re: Q: Are my cramps normal?

I'll just repeat what everyone else already said - I am relieved to find that this is normal! I'm a first timer as well and I wish I had known this before. I have general cramps (that feel like menstrual cramps) but then occasionally I get ones that feel a little sharper. I have since found out this is gas!

wow, that's a relief to know. im also a first timer and i swore i was running to the bathroom every time i felt a cramp thinking my period was here. so now i know as long as it doesnt get worse, my baby is ok.

re: Q: Are my cramps normal?

I am so relieved the hear this! It has put my mind to rest to know that this is normal. I had a car accident in '05 which resulted in pelvic fractures and I just completed a session of physical therapy last Fall, so I get nervous when it comes to any pains in that area. Even though the doc said things are ok, this extra info helps. Thanks for addressing this!

kim_good | July 02 , 2009 9:18 AM

re: Q: Are my cramps normal?

This came up for "What's this sharp pain in my stomach and should I be concerned?" on my checklist. UM....this has nothing to do with sharp pain at 28 weeks. What in the heck? I also hate how people call everything "my stomach." Your stomach is your stomach. Your uterus is your uterus. And never the two shall be one! They ARE NOT the SAME THING! When I search for "stomach pain" and "pregnancy," I almost ALWAYS get hits about cramping in my abs or period cramps. Do YOU get period cramps in YOUR stomach?! I don't!! Meh. I DO have pain in my STOMACH. The STOMACH STOMACH. The one that holds FOOD! I was excited because I thought that the link in my 28 weeks checklist was leading me to some good information. ARG!! How frustrating!!

Q&A: Cramps during early pregnancy?

This has been some interesting stuff. I have been having the same cramping with a tiny bit of spotting, but it is nothing like the bend over in pain cramps i get for my period. I'm only a few days late and I've only taken one pregnancy test and it was negative. I'm going to wait a couple more days before I take another one. It is unusual for me to be late though. So hopefully I really am pregnant. Pray for me please!!

Ladies, don't forget about the possibility of gas either, things are all tied up and scrunched up in there and lil bubbles make you feel like someone is stabbing you... that's my biggest problem, try sitting in the shower leaned back and with your knees up, almost like birth, lol!! Q&A: Cramps during early pregnancy?

Dito! I'm about 5 1/2 to 6 weeks pregnant and just found out last week that I'm pregnant. I have been having these period like dull cramps, and if i do too much i get a sharp one, for the last 2 to 2 1/2 weeks. Everyone tells me not to worry but it freaks me out soo bad to the point I'm watching and checking to make sure I haven't miscarried. They have me sooo stressed, so it's good to know its a normal thing to go through. They should put this as one of the first signs/symptoms of pregnancy. Ahhh!

I had some spotting and cramping yesterday. We went to the ER because I was scared. Everything came back fine but the ultrasound showed only a sac, no fetal heartbeat or fetal core. Q&A: Cramps during early pregnancy?

I was having some cramping before I took a test. I had a positive test like 4 days ago. A couple nights after that I would get cramps, just like period cramps, in the morning and at night (whenever I wanted to relax) which lasted about 5 to 10 mins at a time. They seem to be easing up now. Glad to know it's normal, I can definitely see and feel my uterus expanding!

I've noticed a couple posts on here with answers similar to my experience. I'm 5 weeks and don't experience much cramping during the day, but it comes at night when I lay down in bed, to the point where it can be uncomfortable to fall asleep. I also sometime feel crampy first thing in the morning, but I don't really notice them during the day. They have been going on since about when I learned I was pregnant a week ago. I am glad to hear this is normal and I hope this helps others out there worrying!

Q&A: Cramps during early pregnancy?

Not to scare any of you ladies, but if your cramping is all located on one side of your abdomen, see your OB ASAP!! I was 4 weeks along, when I experienced awful stabbing feeling on my left side, unfortunately, after several ultrasounds, found out that I had an ectopic pregnancy which had to be terminated immediately. So if your pain feels weird, please please see your OB ASAP!! Better to be safe than sorry. :(

Q&A: Cramps during early pregnancy?

This has bothered me too. I just had my first appointment today and saw the heartbeat. I am about 7 weeks. After that I had to move some stuff around at home and later on noticed a pain in the lower left side. I know it is not ectopic so I must have just strained while moving things. I am very paranoid though that something is wrong and after seeing the baby it is very real for me. Has anyone ever had the ligament pain on one side or could this be where the baby is attaced at?

Q&A: Cramps during early pregnancy?

I am 6wks4days along and when I told my Dr. about my cramping, which is very light and comes and goes, he was concerned that it could be that my uterus isn't stretching like it should, and could cause a miscarrage. Q&A: Cramps during early pregnancy?

So relieved to find out my experience is normal! I just found out I'm pregnant yesterday and I'm about 4 weeks. I started getting the cramping that felt very much like I was getting a period a few days before I found out I was pregnant. I was getting really nervous because I was sure it meant I was getting my period and wasn't pregnant. It's a relief to know cramping is normal and now when I feel them it just reminds me, I really am pregnant (finally!)

Thanks so much for this answer! Just found out we're pregnant (only 4 and a half week), and I just had a miscarriage 4 months ago. So glad to know that this is a normal thing!!!

Q&A: Cramps during early pregnancy?

I woke up last night with a sharp jab... I must have rolled over into a bad position. I have been freaking out about it all morning. I couldn't remember if I had cramps with my first baby... I feel much better now.

Q&A: Cramps during early pregnancy?

This is my first pregnancy since my miscarriage last year. I'm just over 4 weeks and the cramps I'm feeling are more like the pains I feel when I ovulate; sharp pains that switch sides. I also feel the sharp jabs if I sit up wrong or sometimes when I sneeze. Is this the same thing?

Q&A: Cramps during early pregnancy?

Ohh my goodness! I was starting to think that something was wrong with me and the baby! I am so glad this is a normal thing! It's crazy that you hear everyone talk about the morning sickness and the gas...but there are so many other things the you normally don't hear, the swollen breasts, the fatigue and the cramps. Wow....I am still just amazed that I can carry my child in my stomach!

Q&A: Cramps during early pregnancy?

I've definitely heard that it's normal to feel growing pains in the uterus that feel like very mild cramping, but I just wanted to share that with my first pregnancy, which ended at 7 1/2 weeks, I experienced severe cramping (just like period cramps). There was no spotting/bleeding/odd discharge, just bad cramps for 30+ minutes at a time, usually at night. I don't want anyone to worry, but every tiny twinge I feel with this pregnancy (I'm 5 weeks along) makes me nervous...although I know that the pain isn't even close to the cramps I had with my last miscarriage. If they get to be really severe, prolonged, or accompanied with bleeding then I'd recommend calling your OBGYN.

Q&A: Cramps during early pregnancy?

I am 5 weeks along and the cramping started the day of my missed period. The first few days of cramping was worse than my normal period cramps, now gradually, they are less and less. I also get slight pain on one side or the other if I am in different positions, strain myself, etc. I don't have my first exam for another 3 weeks. Doctor said as long as there is no bleeding, everything is fine.

Q&A: Cramps during early pregnancy?

slight cramping is normal because your uterus is growing! but i have been a little concerned lately.. just this a.m. when I got out of bed, i had a sharp pain in my left side. it didnt hurt unless i coughed or sneezed or would get up from laying down.. not sure what that means! I have a Dr. appt tomorrow a.m. (thank god), so hopefully everythings o.k. and i get some answers.. can anyone relate??

Q&A: Cramps during early pregnancy?

You have no idea how relieved I am to see I'm not the only one. I have been experiencing period like cramps since the day of my missed period and I too was concerned it meant something was wrong / possibly a miscarriage. Also, as seen in previous posts, sometimes the cramping is more to one side as opposed to overall. I spoke with my doctor when making my first appointment and she said cramping is perfectly normal; just as long as its not severe and there's no bleeding. They also seem to be not as constant and less intense - hopefully each day is less and less!! Regardless, I'm anxious to get to my first appointment in July!!

Q&A: Cramps during early pregnancy?

I was having some cramping and my doctor told me that drinking plenty of water - at least a gallon a day - would help alleviate them. They ended up going away once I increased my water intake. I still have some ligament pain, but not the cramping. Hope that helps!

Q&A: Cramps during early pregnancy?

Really glad to find this info out! I'm 5 weeks along and have had light period like cramping, along with the sharp jabs on either side right above my pelvic bones but towards the middle a little when I change positions, lift things on the heavy side, or cough, sneeze, etc. I was a bit worried, though trying not to be. This really puts my mind at ease. I'll try increasing my water intake too. Thanks girls!! =)

Q&A: Cramps during early pregnancy?

This is so helpful. I just found out that I am pregnant and thought for a couple days before my missed period that I was getting normal cramps, but they were so light and never intensified like they usually do on my period. Now that I had a positive test and still was still having light cramps periodically, I thought something was already going wrong. :)

I am now 8 weeks pregnant and I cramp about half of the day. I go to my doctor every other week due to that I am high risk. I am 36 and have very high blood pressure. I was also told that cramping is normal. I am fortunate that this and back pain is all I have right now. NO morning sickness!!! My first two pregnancies I was sick all the time. So I guess I am fortunate this time around

Q&A: Cramps during early pregnancy?

I am six months pregnant and have experience round ligament pain since i was three or four weeks pregnant. It has landed me in the ER a couple times with fear that something is wrong. So do not be alarmed if the pain is on both right OR left side or your lower abdomen and can be quite painful. I have found that a hot water bottle applied to the spot off and on helps allot (just don't over heat;)

Q&A: Cramps during early pregnancy?

I experience very annoying cramping last night without bleeding and I was soooo worried. It woke me up from a sound sleep and to add to it my back was killing me! After I called my mom she said that is normal especially for me at 9 weeks because everything is moving around to make room for the baby. But this is by far the worst symptom. But hang in there everyone.

Thank goodnes for the BUMP... Just found out I was pregnant and super worried that something might be wrong since I was experiencing slight twinges when I moved positions in bed. I am almost 6 weeks, and have been having cramps for about 3 weeks. I swear any day I will get my Period, even though I KNOW I am preggo. Though I am nervous as all heck that I won't know when the cramping is TOO bad. Noone ever told me there would be ANY, so every cramp I get nervous. I find it amazing the doc's dont tell us ANYTHING other than not to change the kitty litter. How about tell us what to expect until we meet? Nerve wracking!!!

Q&A: Cramps during early pregnancy?

This post is somewhat comforting. I'm in week 5 and have had some slight cramping but had TERRIBLE cramping. It was so bad that I couldn't really walk. I felt it in my pelvic area and even in my butt!! It was fairly constant, though the severity changed from dull to bad. It finally subsided at the end of the day. NOW today I started to lightly spot and I'm concerned. I went to the doctor last week and he took a blood test and results came back positive so my first real pregnancy appointment is in 9 days. I'm thinking I should maybe call the doctor?

I had this cramping and went from clinic to clinic until someone would see me! I was concerned about it being ectopic because of my history, but they gave me a 6 week ultrasound and it really helped me to feel better. Doctors are there to help you! If they will not see you because you're not "far enough along" they not caring about you and your 'mother's intuition' and you probably don't want to see them anyway.

My cramps are also bad at night Tiffany, I feel kind of crappy and nauseous all day long but at night is when the cramping is bad. Last night I had a heat pad on my stomach and laid on my side and that helped alot. Also tylenol helps too, good luck!

Q&A: Cramps during early pregnancy?

I just found out I was preggos about a week ago but had experienced cramping the past 2 weeks. I thought I was about to start my period but found out I was pregnant. The cramping got progressively worst so I went to the ER. Ends up I was dehydrated, constipated, and had gas. Awful combo! They did blood work and an ultrasound to make sure it wasn't a ectopic pregnancy. Word of advice: Drink LOTS of WATER!

Q&A: Cramps during early pregnancy?

I normally don't get period cramps but I do get them when I'm ovulating.... only for a couple of days. I've recently been having cramps similar to this but for an extended period of time, about a couple of weeks. Along with this, I've had a weird ache in what feel like my uterus. I've taken 2 hpt, both negative. However, I'm wondering if maybe the hormone isn't strong enough yet to be detected by the test? I'm not supposed to get AF for another couple of weeks but my breasts are slightly sore. Not as bad as they are a couple of days before AF. I've always been told that when your preggo your breasts are extremely painful. What are your thoughts? You think I could be preggo?!

It's so nice to read that so many other mommies to be are experiencing these cramps too. It's just very unfortunate that so many doctors won't see you until you are a certain amount of weeks. This is my 3rd pregnancy. My last two pregnancies ended in miscarriages. My doctor told me to come in the second I found out I was pregnant. I saw the doc at 4w4d. We couldn't do an U/S but at least the doc was able to see me and discuss my concerns and reassure me that my cramps were normal.

Q&A: Cramps during early pregnancy?

I'm about 5 weeks preg with my second noe and sometimes I experience pretty bad cramps! With my first LO I felt it a lot and very bad. In fact, I thought I would miscarry. When I mentioned it to my OB/GYNE, he said that sometimes your body forms a cyst after implantation and this cyst protects the baby at first. The pain could be the cyst forming and I should not worry. He mentioned this after we did an ultrasound to see if everything is alright and how far along I was.

Q&A: Cramps during early pregnancy?

Please do not let this scare you because everyone's body is different. I am only sharing my experience and I am hoping for the best as I am 5 weeks into my second pregnancy. During my first pregnancy, I did not have cramping during the day, but a couple of nights I had severe cramping that woke me up from a deep sleep and lasted about 15 minutes. I felt like I was going to pass out. Never in my life have I felt cramping so bad. I did not have bleeding. At my first prenatal followup (10weeks), I still had many pregnancy symptoms, but we found out the baby's heart was not beating. My body did not expel the pregnancy, so I had to have a D&C. Today, i am at 5 weeks and 2 days pregnant. I have experienced low level cramping, but nothing severe like I experienced before. I take this as a good sign and from reading many other posts, I have hope this pregnancy will be healthy and normal. I'm am really trying to not worry and focus on being stress free and have freedom from fear. My first loss has carved out more room for the next great thing that is going to happen. A greater capacity for love and patience.

Cramps during early pregnancy?

I only had implantation cramps for about a week which I thought was the start of my period until I kept realizing that I wasn't bleeding. I took a pregnancy test at the near end of August and all six were positive lol! According to my calculations, I should be a little over 12 weeks and just yesterday I started getting a constant mild-cramping feeling that started scaring me becauses my last pregnancy ended in miscarriage. There is no bleeding thus far but it's still making me nervous because I haven't had cramps since implantation. Not to mention I've been struggling with Medicaid because not long before I found out I was pregnant, I lost my job. So having no insurance and waiting on Medicaid is making the stress a little out of control because with no doctor, I can't just go see one when I get symptoms like these. :(

This community is great..I'm 7 weeks pregnant and the MILD cramping is becoming a normal part of the day. Honestly I was ready to take my 8th OTC test since my Dr. appt isnt for another 2 weeks. Logically I know I'm pregnant..but it feels like my period is coming! Great relief to read these posts.

Cramps during early pregnancy?

These SUCK! lol. They feel like pretty bad cramps, like the period ones, to me. But that makes sense since my menstrual cramps are super severe, that anything dealing with my uterus will hurt extra bad lol. I got them pretty constant from weeks 4-7, and got a break at week 8, and tomorrow I'm 9 weeks, and guess who brought their ugly head back in to say hello?! lol

Cramps during early pregnancy?

I just found out I'm pregnant today about 4 weeks. I've been having mild period-like cramps for almost a week. We've been TTC for over two years so I wasn't expecting a positive test result. I was so happy but also scared. I lost a pregnancy at 5 weeks about a year ago. I had the same kind of cramping. Last time this happened I started spotting a few days after my period would have been due. I am just hoping and praying that I don't start spotting this time!

Some extra tips to relieve cramping: Drink some water. Just like a regular muscle cramp, you could be dehydrated. My cramps are worse (and occur around the same time every day) if I have neglected drinking enough water. Also, I found if I eat something it helps the cramps. My worst experience in this (I am at 7 weeks) is that I believe I have developed an intolerance to dairy. My worst cramps always occurred a few hours after having a glass of milk and I cannot express how worried I was about it being more than it was. The worst one rippled high up into my stomach and I have never felt anything like it. Luckily there has never been bleeding accompanied with the cramping and I have learned to avoid dairy. Good luck ladies!

Cramps during early pregnancy?

Praying for the ones who are still currently pregnancy and that there were no issues with the rest of you! I have been ttc for 7 months now, just started using the ovluation test sticks and I am due for my period in 1 1/2 days, BUT odd things are happening. I have the cramping but thats about it. I always get spotting three days before my period but I got nothing. usually i get the stretchy clear stuff down there a week after my period but all of a sudden thats back too instead of spotting. PRAYING this is a sign.............have not taken a PT yet.

Cramps during early pregnancy?

Phew! Glad to hear I'm not the only one, and glad to hear this isn't something to be alarmed about. I'm just shy of 6 weeks and while the cramps are not nearly as severe as my menstrual cramps they're definitely there. I am not thrilled to see the suggestion of scaling back physical activity though. I'll see my doctor in three weeks and hopefully she'll give some additional advice and answers.

Cramps during early pregnancy?

yes its totally normal... AND EXTREMELY SCARY. Officially 4 weeks 4 days today. Found out yesterday *valentines day* that we were finally expecting after 2 and a half years of trying. I would say ive had cramps since Friday feb 10th. They started out mild then got progressively worse. I seriously thought aunt flow was coming any min but got a wonderful surprise instead. The cramps are mostly gone but can be very sharp and quick. mostly around the area where leg meets hip or on the middle right side of where my uterus is. I havent been able to do anything since I told my hubby last nigh... he is super paranoid that i might over exert myself... if only I had the energy.

Thank you ladies for putting my mind at ease. I was scared, but my doctor didn't say much. I'm praying it'll be all good. Congratulations to the new expecting moms!

Cramps during early pregnancy?

Thank you ladies, for proving to my mother that I'm not making this up. This is my 4th pregnancy (only 1 live birth so far) and my mom keeps insisting that it doesn't hurt. And I keep insisting that I always get period like cramps before I can even take a test. That's how I know so early. No joke, this is for the birds.

Cramps during early pregnancy?

I was also completely concerned about it. I was late and thought, Oh never mind, I'm cramping...so I must be about to start. A week later, no period. Then I found out I was pregnant and didn't understand why I had been cramping...just to find out that now I get cramps every other day. I had heard so many things about the percentage of first timers miscarrying, so I was paranoid that's what was happening. I'm so thrilled to know, it's perfectly normal...esp since I have no other pregnancy symptoms. LG (that's what I call my baby--little guy/little girl---since I don't know yet) must be doing just fine then! Thank you so much ladies for sharing and for making me feel like I wasn't the only only concerned...It's good to feel "normal."

Cramps during early pregnancy?

I am so glad that I am not the only one. I just found out this week that I am pregnant, and the cramps have been unbearable. I even had to go to the ER because it had me in tears. Glad that this is normal, but it sucks that there's not much I can do about it :(

Cramps during early pregnancy?

Just stopping by to add... I have been having cramping on one side for a few days now and (b/c I'm paranoid) went to the doctor to get checked out. I am 9w3d. Everything looked fine with baby, such a relief! The doctor said that it's likely intestinal since pregnancy hormones wreak havoc on our bowels, and to drink more water to help avoid constipation. And to check the iron in my prenatal. Other than that, it's just one of those fun first trimester things! Take care everyone.

Cramps during early pregnancy?

For you women who were married March 1, congrats! I got married March 15 as well, and literally two weeks later, found out I was pregnant! It was so amazing... however, this cramping is not so fun. Luckily, it's very mild and I can tell it's just my uterus expanding. My lower stomach has also been very tender, as it should be. However, I have been getting a little bit of brown discharge every now and then in my underwear. I am assuming this is just old blood from the uterus that was from an old period... does anyone have any answers for this? I have never bled an extreme amount or anything, there was ONE time where I bled a tiny bit, but it was just dark red blood and I am pretty sure it was also old blood. If anyone has any answers, let me know! Thanks! (BTW, I am 8 weeks and 5 days preggy!) :)

If you are having bloody discharge, I would contact your doctor. I've lost 2 babies, so better safe than sorry.

Cramps during early pregnancy?

These stories are making me feel better. :) I am five weeks and three days pregnant. I have had dull cramping every so often, but it usually doesn't last long. Last night, cramps woke me up! It was more like I was very sore down there...like perhaps there is a lot of activity! I read that moving around, stretching and rubbing your tummy can make you feel better. So I tried all three, and it worked. They were gone within 15 minutes! I haven't had any bleeding, so I am trying not to worry.

Cramps during early pregnancy?

I am so relieved to know that the cramping is normal. I just found out 3 days ago that I am pregnant and have been feeling these mild cramps for a couple of weeks now. It was really hard for me to remain calm (because we all know stress is not good for baby) thinking that this could be a sign of miscarriage.
