Q&A: Preventing IUGR?

Is there anything I can do to prevent Intrauterine Growth Syndrome somehow?

Re: Is there anything I can do to prevent Intrauterine Growth Syndrome somehow?

The Bump Expert Intrauterine Growth Restriction (IUGR) is a serious condition that happens when a baby's weight is below the 10th percentile for its gestational age. While many different factors can lead to IUGR, at the heart of the matter is the fact that baby needs proper nutrition in order to grow. So the best thing you can do as a mom-to-be to prevent IUGR is to avoid risk factors that are actually within your control -- things like staying away from alcohol and drugs, quitting smoking, closely monitoring yourself if you have high blood pressure, and taking care of your diet and nutritional needs. Remember, when you take care of yourself, you're taking care of your babies at the same time.
