Ways To Tell Your Partner You're Pregnant

Getting ready to spill it? Bumpies tell us how they shared the news.

We asked our readers how they broke the news to their parterner and here's what they came up with...

"I made DH a card that said on the outside, 'You are the love of my life. But that is not all you are. You are also.....' And on the inside it said, 'Going to be a DADDY!' When he looked at me I was holding the positive digital test.” -- AmRae11

“I crawled into bed with DH and said, ‘Good morning Daddy!’" -- Jesnbrent

“I had bought a shirt for our puppy that said 'Big Brother' and hid it until the day I found out we were expecting. My husband walked in from work, and as usual, puppy got to him first. My DH said 'I see that you bought our puppy a new shirt,' and then after a pause, he understood what it meant. It was a great moment." -- Dunkin

I had always planned on some elaborate way to tell DH the big news, but it just didn't work out like that. I was alone when I got my BFP, but DH got home about ten minutes after. I had nothing planned and no time to plan it, so I just told him through bursts of happy tears. He grabbed me, said congrats, and we hugged.” -- Sara0110

I shrieked from the bathroom, so that was the giveaway ;)” -- FinallyPG

“DH knew my period was late and that I would be taking the pregnancy test in the morning. He works nights so when I came in the next morning we talked a little about finances for a minute, then I told him we couldn't go to Argentina in January like we had planned. He asked my why and that's when I told because we're having a baby!” -- Septemberdc

My husband and I love to eat birthday cake so I decided to tell him by presenting him with a cake that had "I'm pregnant!" written on it. I served it as dessert and just let him read it and react - it was very positive! : )

My WH knew I was a couple of days late and that I was going to the doctor's that morning for a pregnancy test. So he called me at lunch time and figured he wouldn't mention it if I didn't mention it. So, when I got home (he gets off work before I do) (we live 7 hours away from our families), I said "Bay, we get to spend Christmas here at home this year". He said "why?", I said because we're having a baby on January 17th!!! He was over-estatic!!! :-)

I really wanted to get a onesie that said "I love my Daddy" but I couldn't find one anywhere in the the time I had. So when my DH came home for lunch, I had a rattle and a "Congrats Daddy" card all wrapped up for him. I told him I had a prize to fix the bad day he'd been having, but really I had big news! He took one look at the rattle and gave me a HUGE hug... and even cried a few happy tears. :D

After trying for over a year, I was too excited to do any of the cute things I had thought of. I dropped DH off at work, got a test on the way home...and called him the second it came up positive.

I used to be a manager at Gymboree, and when the first line I fell in love with arrived (in 2002) I took him shopping with me to get one of each piece. I decided that when I found out I was pregnant I would wrap those items (belive me, I have a closet full now) and give them to him as a gift. He stared at the clothes for about five seconds, looked at me and asked if I was pregnant. He catches on quick :)
