Soleil Moon Frye Reveals Her Most Embarrassing Mommy Moment

We caught up with the actress turned blogger, author and celeb mom -- and we realized we’re not the only ones who occasionally have our clothes on inside-out!

The Bump: You seem to have great adventures with your kids. How are you such fun mom?

Soleil Moon Frye: I try my best! We’re all about the chaos! Embracing the chaos, enjoying the insanity of it all, and not trying to be too perfect. I’ve realized that perfection does not exist.

TB: What tips do you have for pregnant women to stay comfortable and enjoy pregnancy and motherhood?

SMF: Be comfortable, and don’t be too hard on yourself. They have all these amazing clothes for pregnant women, but what happens after? I was the mom that, for years after, kept the baby weight on. And you know what? That's okay. It can happen. There's no reason to worry about it. Don't be too hard on yourself.

TB: Did you have a majorly embarrassing pregnancy moment?

SMF: Oh, I had many embarrassing pregnancy moments! And I had many moments after -- I still do. I went somewhere the other day, and I had gum all over my dress. I was walking into a meeting when I realized it. I’m totally the clumsy, chaotic, crazy mom. Clothes on inside-out -- it's my life story.

TB: Did you have an “aha” moment, where you realized you were a mom for the first time?

SMF: Yes. I was home just after Poet was born, and I kept hearing echoes. I thought she was crying. It was such a new sensation! Even when she wasn't crying, I would think she was. I thought, I must be a mom! The other thing that happens is any time someone yells "mom!" I immediately look around and think they're calling me. It still happens and they're 7 and 5!

TB: How are you involved with the charity Baby2Baby, which helps give baby gear and kids’ clothes to needy families?

SMF: The organization’s founders, Kelly and Nora are dear friends, and they're doing such incredible, amazing work helping families in need. My kids are involved -- they always want to give, and to help the babies. They do a special holiday party, and they’re really into serving hot chocolate to the families. It's such a great charity to involve your kids because it teaches them about giving back. On my son Jagger's birthday, he said “Mommy, I'm so lucky. I got all these new toys from my friends, and I want to go through all my stuff and give some of it to kids in need.” They’re very aware of it now. It's never too early to teach them.
