This modern baby shower pairs up black-and-white zebra print with punchy color.

The Invite: Set the tone of the shower with a zebra-print invitation from Paperlicious, which lets you choose from several fun ink colors.

The Decor: Purchase inexpensive zebra print fabric and use it to create simple table runners. To really make the runners pop, glue fuchsia-colored satin ribbon around the edges. A diaper cake wrapped in zebra print ribbon and faux Gerbera daisies is a perfect centerpiece for the mom-to-be’s table. To finish off the other tables, place a few fresh or paper Gerbera daisies in a black vase. For a final festive touch, fill the room with zebra print balloons.

The Cake: To keep things simple, order a basic sheet cake large enough to feed your guests. Then, use jungle animal-themed candles to decorate. Ask the bakery to pipe your message on in hot pink frosting and jazz-up the corners with green jungle leaves.

The Game: Test your guests’ knowledge of the animal kingdom with a game of “Name That Jungle Baby!” Either call out an animal and have your guests write down the proper name of its offspring or create a handout; list several animals in one column, then in another column, list the names of the offspring and have guests match them up. For example, a baby monkey is called an infant, while a baby kangaroo is called a joey. The prize:  What else? Boxes of animal crackers.

The Favor: Send guests home with an Endangered Species Chocolate Bar. Wrap the center of the bars in zebra-print paper or let the animal photos on the packaging peek through. Then, make a simple thank-you tag from business card-sized cardstock. Punch a hole through it and tie around the candy bar using a brightly colored ribbon.
