When should I start my baby registry?

Re: When should I start my baby registry?

The Bump Expert

You can technically start registering for baby at any time, but most moms-to-be start at around 12 weeks. That may seem early, but building a baby registry can take some work. And trust us, it takes longer than you think to weed out what you want from what you need. If you’re planning to find out the sex of your baby, then you’ll probably want to wait until then (usually around 20 weeks) to start your registry. But don’t wait too much longer -- you’ll want to give your guests plenty of time to get gifts before your shower. If you’re in on the shower planning, make sure your registry is all set by the time your invitations are sent out.

Q&A: When should I start my baby registry?

I started mine after I found out that we're having a little girl! I was looking at a lot of stuff before this, but I wanted to know so I could register for some gender-specific items.

Q&A: When should I start my baby registry?

We started registering when we were about 12 weeks, and it gave us ample time to jump out there and start learning about the products. Everything was so overwhelming and confusing, we were glad to give ourselves the extra time to not feel rushed. I found the currant baby website really helpful, and if you have any questions you can call and everyone knew what they were talking about. I found out about it because it's a store near where I live. Check out their website: www.currantbaby.com

Q&A: When should I start my baby registry?

We also started our registry around 12 weeks. We did the travel stuff like car seat pack and play high chair stroller ect gender neutral so we could use it again, when we find out what we are having we will add the gender specific stuff. I was glad to start it early cause it is less stressful than to have to do it all at once.

Q&A: When should I start my baby registry?

I began my registry when my husband and I started trying. I know it sounds wierd, but I wanted to take my time and find the best products, for the best prices. I also feel like I didn't forget anything, since I wasn't rushing to finish it before any showers. Now that I am 14 weeks along my registry is finished and I can just sit back and relax. It also helped because my mom already wants to start buying things and she would buy the store out if I didn't have some type of list (this is her first grandchild).

Q&A: When should I start my baby registry?

I think that you can start one whenever you'd like. You can always modify it as your tastes change plus nobody knows that you have one until you tell them. They are also really easy to set up. Most places let you start one online and make changes online.

Q&A: When should I start my baby registry?

I just registered for my little girl, I'm at 23 weeks now. Although this is my first child, it was a bit easier for me to register, since I was there to help my sister register for her son 2 years ago. I also helped raise him. It really gave me a perspective on what I will need, and on whats necessary. Also, it helped me not register for things that I wouldn't need till a year from now.

livingj156 |

Q&A: When should I start my baby registry?

I started mine at about 12 weeks because I was just so exicted. I am definately going to go at it full speed when we find out what the baby is next week!

crystalssong02 |

Q&A: When should I start my baby registry?

I started mine and my husband and I aren't even trying to conceive yet! I have had so many baby showers lately for friends and family, I decided to start my own with really awesome things I am finding and including the stuff my friends admit they can't live without. When I realized I was writing down the products my friends suggested, I just made a registry to stay organized. This gives me plenty of time to switch stuff out, ask my friends and family what they like with their current newborns (and then their older babies once I get pregnant). You can start one any time the way I see it.

Does anyone have any good links or websites to compare different things like car seats and cribs?

Q&A: When should I start my baby registry?

I found a really great website called poshtots.com that has everything you might need for your baby's room. I just helped my sister make her registry there and they have the most gorgeous furniture (She's having a boy in September!!)

Try chicco.com they have all kind of car seats and strollers

Q&A: When should I start my baby registry?

I started at 16 weeks with my son, but I found that many of the things I added were not in stock by the time the shower came around. Most were out of season and some were already discontinued for newer models. This time around we started at 24 weeks, and they are already starting to put out the fall and winter items that we will need for October. Just my thought...

shi1976 |

Q&A: When should I start my baby registry?

@giggleposk: Amazon is a great place to compare products.

carinamarie77 |

Q&A: When should I start my baby registry?

I doubt I'll register at all. Our goal is to get as much baby gear as possible from craigslist, friends, and second hand shops. So much of what's out there is overpriced and we would rather save the money to make my maternity leave last as long as possible.

BostonMommy1 |

Q&A: When should I start my baby registry?

I think that 12 -16 weeks is a fair time to create your baby registry. You can always add to it and manage it as you go along. Question for BostonMommy: if you would rather save money, why wouldn't you register? It sounds like we are both in a similar boat...and I know that a lot of my friends and family are really pinching pennies, so I created an online registry at MyRegistry.com because I knew I'd be able to add items to my baby's wish list from any store in the world and make sure that I found the best deals out there before adding any gift item to my wish list. I am looking at a lot of 2nd hand pieces of furniture as well, but you can still add these items to your wish list if you use a site like MyRegistry.com...and that way, you can ask your friends and family to help you make the purchase by having it on your registry. So you can REALLY save some major moolah if you do register. Just a suggestion! I mean, there are online registry sites like MyRegistry.com that can really help you out if you are on a strict budget. It might be something worth considering for you!

Q&A: When should I start my baby registry?

I'm 17 weeks and definitely wish that I had started my registry a little sooner. I spent so much time trying to decide where to register, that by the time I finally decided that I was going to register online with MyRegistry.com, the timing was a little too overwhelming.

BabyLoveDG |

Q&A: When should I start my baby registry?

I'm almost 30 weeks and have yet to register, but plan on doing it as soon as we have a free day now. Isn't it a little presumptuous to register so far in advance though? We are buying what we need and registering for the left over stuff incase people want to buy the baby things.

McCradyToBe |

Q&A: When should I start my baby registry?

I think that you should register about 20 weeks - I don't think that is presumptous to register for things that you need for the baby. I know that my friends and family cannot wait to buy stuff for the baby that we have been waiting on for 11 years. I am planning on registering for everything but clothes because even if you get nothing - after your due date the store gives you a 15% discount on all the items.. Just my opinion.

Q&A: When should I start my baby registry?

I made a registry list on paper first. With all the brands and things i needed and wanted. I didn't create registries at the stores until almost 24 weeks right before the invites went out. Yet there are still things that they don't have in the stores i registered at so i have a list of those items and am hoping for gift cards so i can purchase them online. I also went mostly gender neutral except once we found out it is a boy my husband really wanted a sports based room. So i researched my options for the sports theme, found one I loved and went with it. I love it so much and we can't wait to have baby and start our family journey!

e_behnke |

Q&A: When should I start my baby registry?

Some of the stores also have a wish list that you can add items to. I started doing that before we were even trying. That way I didn't have to worry about where I put my list of the things I liked and could easily add them to a registery later.

lperry3854 |

Q&A: When should I start my baby registry?

DH & I have a strick budget... do any of you know a great place to buy inexpensive bedding, furniture, gear... etc, that is also gender neutral? It seems like all of the stores I am looking at still look like boy stuff :( We don't want to find out the sex of the baby!

jewlz12 |

Q&A: When should I start my baby registry?

You can start your baby registry anytime from when you are 12-14 weeks. My husband and I tried Babies R Us and Target but were unsatifisifed with both of these stores since we were very limited. We decided to try myregistry.com and thought it was perfect for us. Being able to add a variety of items from all different stores was great.

Amandafarber |

Q&A: When should I start my baby registry?

I'm 18 weeks pregnant and just recently started my registry. I suppose the sooner the better. My husband and I are having a little girl, but we only told a few people in our family, the rest will find out come the baby shower (if there is one). We put just basic things like bottles, diapers, pacifiers. We havent yet put any gender specific items. It all depends on you. When do you feel the need to start a registry, before you know the sex of the baby or after.

Ladybug2491 |

Q&A: When should I start my baby registry?

I'm 17 weeks pregnant and just starting my wishlist. It is a bit overwhelming and I wish I'd started sooner just so it would be less stressful. I went to diaper.com and found almost everything I wanted. But then I stumbled across walmart.com and the prices were much more cheaper! Walmart has everything you need and then some. They're cheaper than Target and Burlington Coat Factory's Baby Depot. But there are certain items I will be paying more for just for quality sake. I can't wait to start my registry now! :)

Janette2000 |

Q&A: When should I start my baby registry?

I am 15 weeks and just started mine on MyRegistry.com, so far its awesome because I can add from any store and find the best prices!!!! :)

Q&A: When should I start my baby registry?

I am 14 weeks and started mine weeks ago. I made mine private so no one can see if without my email and password. This way I can change things as often as I want. I think it is so much easier. Once we find out the sex of the baby we will add gneder items and then make the registry public.

Q&A: When should I start my baby registry?

you can start your baby registry when ever you want in the beginning of the pregnancy or in the middle but at the end might be too late.

Amanda4hm |

Q&A: When should I start my baby registry?

I began mine at about 10 weeks I guess, knowing it would take a lot of time and "tweaking". Then when I found out that I'm having a girl, I was able to go back in and put somemore on there. Now I just have to drag my sister or mom into the stores with me to get a little expert advise!

MrsDahling |

Q&A: When should I start my baby registry?

If you plan to find out the gender of your little one I would suggest waiting until after you know. You may think you can put gender neutral things on your registry until then, but when you find out its a little boy you will want all blue and boy stuff or if its a girl you will want all the pretty pink sweet stuff. Plus it would be fun to go straight from the doctors appointment and go crazy setting up your registry. There isnt a big rush to set up a registry just make sure you have it finished before you start making the baby shower plans that way your guests have plenty of time to buy you a gift.

sweetgarose415 |

Q&A: When should I start my baby registry?

I registered a week before I knew the invitations for my shower were being sent out so around 29 weeks. It really depends when others are going to start shopping for you. I found it REALLY helpful to look at other people I knew were pregnants registry, ask people who have a baby right now to help... they're always coming out with new trinkets!

lizliechti |

Q&A: When should I start my baby registry?

I am 19 weeks now and I'll probably wait until 29- 30 weeks to register. I'm scared that registering too early will somehow jinx something....Also, I know I'll change my mind on the items I want if I register too early.....

Maleceke |

Q&A: When should I start my baby registry?

If you are going to find out the sex of the baby, wait til you know. That way you get it all done at once vs having to go back to add things that are girly or boyish.

Q&A: When should I start my baby registry?

We have started a registry with Amazon.com. This way anytime I see something that I love or hear is a must have for baby then we can add it there. We will then register at target.com as we get closer to our due date.

kates9984 |

Q&A: When should I start my baby registry?

I started my registry this week at 22 weeks. Only a few items, nothing serious. We plan to go in to the store and actually register for the bulk of items in the next few weeks

OurJellybean |

Q&A: When should I start my baby registry?

I started mine when I found out I was pregnant!!! Now I'm 11 weeks along with our first child. I mostly searched for gender neutral items that I want to use again when we have another child. Things like a traveling stroller, crib, clothing basics, diaper bag, etc. The gender specific items can wait.

calsurfgurl |

Q&A: When should I start my baby registry?

I started mine when we started IVF, but now that I am nineteen weeks, I went back today and revised mine again. It's great to start early so that you can revise before people want to start looking at it for their purchases. I have changed my mind so many times this way I can settle on the items I love without feeling rushed.

msyarber74 |

Q&A: When should I start my baby registry?

I just found out last week that I am 7 weeks along and I have browsed but not started a registry yet. A friend suggested that we not put the gender on the registry so that we don't get a hundred pink or blue bibs. (When they were pregnant with twins they didn't find out the gender. Everything they got at their shower was something they needed) If people aren't sure what you're having, they'll most likely just get you essentials like diapers and things you need. We want it to be a big surprise but can't wait until the baby is born. Mainly because my husband is anti-neutral colors. He wants it to be girly or masculine, no in between. I know the person that will most likely throw the shower. When we are far enough along I will have the Dr. write the gender on a card and put it in an envelope to give to my friend. Then we will be surprised at the shower.

Q&A: When should I start my baby registry?

to BostonMommy1: A few years ago, friends of mine registered for their wedding with www.alternativegiftregistry.org and my husband and I are considering doing this for our baby as well. It's an online registry where you can ask for specific or general items (ex: "we need Pampers diapers for an infant" or "we need diapers") and encourage friends and family to buy secondhand items or to pass along used items. I've frequently shopped off friends' bridal registries and bought an item, only to find it cheaper at another store so I think this would help address that as well.

Q&A: When should I start my baby registry?

With our first, a girl, I registered right away because I was so excited and because it helped me keep our secret for a few weeks. With this one, I have had a registry as sort of a wish list of items for me to remember and if there is a shower for #2. I have the major stuff so its mainly for things if #2 is a boy, and things like a double stroller and a newer swing (we had a 2nd hand one that wasn't so great.) Again for me to keep track of the items I would like- even if we buy them ourselves.

Q&A: When should I start my baby registry?

Q&A: When should I start my baby registry?

I know that if I get pregnant there won't be any showers or anything like them for me, so it'll just be my mom and maybe my mil picking up a few things for us. No need for a registry at all.

Julie581 |

Q&A: When should I start my baby registry?

My husband and I haven't even thought about registering yet and I'm 26 weeks. We've been buying all the big things, plus diapers, and will probably start registering when we find out when I'll be having my baby showers. We have been researching what we will actually need rather than putting things on the list that won't be used and isn't necessary.

Q&A: When should I start my baby registry?

Q&A: When should I start my baby registry?

Everyone think that up to date that the best value for any $$ are actually apparel out of Unwanted Deep blue. What sorts to help dress yourself in is based a whole lot in the weather condition. Each of our DS appeared to be much too limited for the purpose of sleepers as well as shorts, so the person just simply was wearing onesies and all of us wrapped an individual's thighs and leg at a blanket (till he kicked this out of). Take into account to select from, all of the neophytes desire to select from. Nevertheless : DS is certainly a few months - we all never extremely "dress" her right up. It's simply just onesies in addition to dirt bike pants together with sleepers in the evening. warcraft 3 cheats download

Q&A: When should I start my baby registry?

We're registered--not for gifts but for the completion discount--baby stuff can really add up! We're getting some things second hand, but a few things we really wanted new and we're using the registry for ourselves (no baby shower, we're really not expecting that anyone "finds" our registry. Like PPs have said, it is a really great way to organize your thoughts on what you want and need. I recommend registering at any time, but at least a month before your baby shower so you can tinker with the registry before anyone else buys things. We registered at 24 weeks (viability) because I was paranoid about loss.

Q&A: When should I start my baby registry?

I'm only 11 weeks and I've already started my registry. I actually wont tell people about it until later in my pregnancy. I'm really using it as a guide for myself. Since this is my first child, I have a lot of items to buy. The registry helps me determine everything I need. I'm trying to keep as many items gender neutral, just in case we have another child in the future.

Plan ahead and start early b/c items may be on backorder longer than expected! I ordered all my furniture from Pottery Barn Kids, but some (crib and bassinette) is backordered until after my due date (mid May) so I canceled the bassinette and ordered from Restoration Hardware, which had it to my door inside one week.

BeautifulTucsonBaby |

Q&A: When should I start my baby registry?

I just completed my registry last week at 26 weeks along! I found it very overwhelming as a first time mom. There is just so much stuff out there. There are hundreds of types of soothers and bottles etc. I nearly had a meltdown in the store wondering what to pick. To be honest, I really don't care what brand of bottle she gets. I've heard that sometimes you have to try a few brands of bottles and soothers before finding one your baby likes. Try not to stress about the registry. I really just choose my "big ticket" items on my registry so that family would know what we needed. All the small things are necessary but I am not fussy on brand etc. Good luck!

Q&A: When should I start my baby registry?

I'm the founder of a baby registry called BabyList (http://babyli.st). It's awesome. You should check it out :) About 15% of our users start their registry in their first-trimester, 45% in their second trimester and 35% in months 7 and 8. 5% of our users start their registry BEFORE they're pregnant. Don't add baby clothes to your registry too early (especially from Target) because things are seasonal.

Q&A: When should I start my baby registry?

I started my registry at 20 weeks to give myself a couple of months before I had my baby shower. This gave me time to do a little research on which items would be best. IMPORTANT: STAY AWAY FROM BABIESRUS!!! The worst registry experience of my LIFE! They were limited, but worse, they don't always show when items have been purchased off of your list because of glitches in their system... this means you can't tell if an item was bought and there's no way to check against your guests, leading to embarrassing situations later. I also had a couple of horrible customer service experiences with their online department after trying to rectify several missing orders... trust me, go with an independent registry for more flexibility and less headaches!

Q&A: When should I start my baby registry?

I will be 22 weeks tomorrow (Wed, 24 Sep 14) and I'm almost afraid to set up a registry. My husband and I are having a boy. I have no family on my side that acknowledges me anymore (long story -- don't ask), and my husband really only has his dad, (which he is getting some stuff). Anyhoo, NONE of our supposed friends or coworkers has said ANYTHING to either of us about throwing us a baby shower or even a "Meet and Greet" after Matthew is born (EDD -- Wed, 28 Jan 15). I don't want to be disappointed if nobody does anything for us. And of course, I don't want to sound selfish when I say that. But on the flip side, I don't want to feel like I've done "the walk of shame" by doing something nobody wanted to participate in. Shawn (my husband) and I have been going to garage/yard sales seeing what we can start getting now, but some items just have to be bought new (bottles, med kits, etc). Does ANYBODY have any suggestions or ideas for me and Shawn on what to do?????

I am at 12 weeks and we are just now starting to create our registry. Since this is our first child we are doing some research on the many brands and only adding the pieces that can be neutral.
