When Strangers Become Friends
“Before my daughter was born, we needed baby clothes, but we couldn’t afford to buy new ones, so I posted an ad on Craigslist. Two moms offered to donate their old baby clothes, and I was so grateful. I had never met them before, but thanks to their kindness, my daughter was all set -- and now they’re two of my best friends. Now I donate all my daughter’s clothes when she grows out of them.” -- Krystal G.

A Helping Hand
“My husband's aunt helped me a lot the first week after my baby was born. I was really struggling with breastfeeding, and she called me every day to check on me and give me tips, and just supported my decision to breastfeed when everyone else told me I couldn't do it and that I should just give up. She had breastfed her four children, so she knew the frustration I felt, and she listened to me cry about my milk coming in late and having no poopy diapers. I couldn't have done it without her help!” -- Breanne B.

Venting Session
“I called my girlfriend at 3 in the morning to cry about why breastfeeding was still hurting and asked for her help. After an hour of laughing, crying and tons of great advice, I felt like I was doing great and that everything would be okay.” -- Courtney F.

Support System
“The biggest help for me was when other moms gave me encouragement. We suffered through 18 weeks of colic. Sometimes encouragement came through Facebook, sometimes it came in a card or a hot meal, and sometimes it came from an unexpected visitor who took care of baby so I could get some sleep.” -- Meghan W.

Unexpected Act of Kindness
“There’s a local online community called Recycling Kindness, where people give away the things they don't need to people who are looking for them. A couple of the moms knew I was looking for baby things because at the time I wasn’t able to buy a lot of the items. They got together and picked up a bunch of baby clothes and toys for me from other members and surprised me with a big box. As a young mom, it made all the difference. Now I'm doing the same for others in the group.” -- Christine S.

Food Delivery
“I think it’s wonderful that some people provide frozen meals and snacks to the mom. The last thing you want is to have to cook. And helping with cleaning is awesome too!” -- Stacy O.

Coffee and a Hug to the Rescue
“My son was throwing an epic tantrum, and I thought I would lose my mind. I hid under my desk while he screamed, and I cried, not knowing what to do. I texted my best friend while under there, and moments later, she pulled up to my house bearing the gift of my fave ice blended coffee and a hug. I don’t think I could’ve gotten through the day without her.” -- Shannon G.
