The Bump Expert

Postpartum depression doesn’t necessarily begin immediately. While most cases crop up during the first three months after baby is born, it can actually strike at any time, up to the first year after delivery. Since PPD doesn’t always go away on its own, it’s important to seek help as soon as possible -- no matter when the illness starts.

Q&A: When does postpartum depression start?

Baby blues start 3-4 days after you leave the hospital, post partum depression is a more sever form of the baby blues and can last up to 10 days. It can be small things like not wanting to breast feed and as severe as hallucinating. -Post Partum Corpsman
