Q&A: When should my period return after baby?

I recently had my baby. When should I expect my period to return?

Re: I recently had my baby. When should I expect my period to return?

The Bump Expert

That depends on whether you’re breastfeeding or not. If you’re not breastfeeding, your period could come back about six to eight weeks after delivery, maybe even sooner. If you’re fully or near-fully breastfeeding, it will actually take months to return. In fact, you might finish breastfeeding altogether before your period comes back. But here’s the real shocker: Even if you’re not getting your period, you can still get pregnant. You could ovulate, or release an egg, well before your menstrual cycle returns. So if you’re going to have sex -- and don’t want another little guy on the way so soon -- remember to use contraception. (And don’t say we didn’t warn you.)

Q&A: When should my period return after baby?

I'm exclusively breast feeding my 14-month old and still have not gotten my period... I'm pretty sure that's on the long side, but you certainly shouldn't worry about it until after you've stopped breast feeding.

Q&A: When should my period return after baby?

I am exclusively breastfeeding my son, he is 4months old, and my period returned at 7 weeks. I've had 2 since he was born. Why didn't I get the break? : )

Q&A: When should my period return after baby?

Almost 6 mths for mine to come back. Mainly breastfeeding w/ the occasional bottle of formula.

Q&A: When should my period return after baby?

Breastfeeding moms, you can still get your period even if you're exclusively feeding at the breast. I got mine at 7 weeks pp and I was pumping once a day only to let dad feed once a day. My midwife said that I'm just one of the extra sensitive women (and unlucky I guess).

Q&A: When should my period return after baby?

There really is no hard and fast rule...your body will decide. I was breastfeeding exclusively and my period returned after my 6 weeks postpartum check!. I thought it was still related to d birth and then 28 days later, it was back!. No such luck for me.

Q&A: When should my period return after baby?

I exclusively breastfed and my period returned the day my son turned 5 weeks old. Got pregnant again a few weeks after that (which was planned, I assure you!) and DS #2 will be here a few weeks or so before DS #1 turns 1!
