The Bump Expert

Baby’s neck muscles will take time to strengthen, but your little one should be able to hold up his head without any help by about six months. Until then, your newborn will need help supporting his head and neck -- especially in that first month -- so be extra-careful when picking up baby and setting him down. After a few months, baby will start lifting his own head and moving it from side to side, and by about six months, he’ll have a full range of movement.
