Q&A: When should I get my preemie the flu shot?

I want my preemie to get a flu shot this year, but should she get it at six months (her actual age) or should I wait until seven months since she was a month premature?

The Bump Expert

All vaccinations are given by real or actual age with the exception of the hepatitis B vaccine. So a baby born one month early should get her flu shot when she is six months actual age (even though she is only five months old by adjusted age). Premature babies are more susceptible to complications of the flu, so vaccination is a very important line of defense.
