Q&A: What is BPD?

What is BPD?

Re: What is BPD?

The Bump Expert

BPD, or Bronchopulmonary dysplasia, is a type of lung condition seen in premature babies. It’s due to a combination of immature lungs and damage from oxygen and breathing equipment. Premature babies with BPD are more likely to have breathing problems if they contract a virus like RSV or the flu.

Q&A: What is BPD?

It`s very hard to take care of babies having BPD, I had a roommate in Drug Rehab Florida and she had a baby with this chronic lung condition. Doctors treated her son using bronchodilators, unfortunately baby developed pneumonia and they had to give him antibiotics. Reducing your child's exposure to potential respiratory infections and limiting visits from sick people are the first steps to prevent further complications.
