Q&A: Tips for traveling with baby?

Have any tips for making travel time with baby go more smoothly?

Re: Have any tips for making travel time with baby go more smoothly?

The Bump Expert

It can be very difficult to run errands or travel with a baby. Here are some tips to make things a bit smoother:

Stick to the schedule
Try to mimic the same schedule whether you’re away for a few hours or even a few weeks. Children like routine and tend to behave better when they have a predictable sense of order.

Know their limits
Try not to run errands or attend events when they’re tired or hungry. If it’s their naptime, then encourage them to rest or sleep. Remember that they have short attention spans and can’t sit still or in one place for a long period of time.

Keep them engaged
Bring books or toys with you in the car, at the shopping mall, on the airplane, and so on. When children are bored, they tend to act out, so keep them occupied.

Q&A: Tips for traveling with baby?

A recent 400 mile drive (14 hours there, 10 home) was a real learning experience! * We thought eating in a restaurant would be good, but it just lengthened the day in a bad way. My advice is to eat on the go but find a Cracker Barrel or Welcome Center with rocking chairs to nurse/feed/engage before hitting the road again. * Get toys with engaging lights/sounds so baby can be entertained and possibly soothed en route * Be flexible: If your baby is inconsolable for any length of time, get a hotel room or find a mall in case you can get back on the road after a break (our last 4 hours taught us this tip...we pressed on and all of us were in tears by the time we made it there) * Have confidence: the trip taught me how to adapt outside of our normal routine and way outside my comfort zone. You can do it!

My suggestion would be to have a plan before you leave the house. If you are driving a long way, plan for an over night stop. Try to bring as many things that are familiar to your baby and make the car as comfortable as possible.

Q&A: Tips for traveling with baby?

You need to choose a hotel that has good facilities for families with little babies. Also check for the medical facilities in the hotel; as your baby might fall sick. Just search on the internet, for such hotels. When I had to go on a tour to New York I searched for best hotels in New York City and found one.

Hope you don't mind me offering advice here on this matter: I would like to recommend a few Orlando hotels if you happen to pass by Orlando. Traveling while pregnant or traveling with a small baby could prove to be a challenge.

I think you need to assure yourself that you will have the greatest experiences of your life including your baby. You also need to provide the best quality when it comes about baby seats and safety during the time you are driving.

I think you must have a Tata AIG Travel Insurance too because you never know what can happen during your vacation. Many things can happen and you better be prepaired rather then being sorry because you didn't have an insurance.

Q&A: Tips for traveling with baby?

It is very important to make sure that your child is absolutely healthy. If your baby is under treatment then it is better not to travel at all. Once your baby is a little older you can easily take your baby for travel. People who love traveling, they always look for good and comfortable staying places. If you are planning to visit Israel you could opt for DMC Israel.

Q&A: Tips for traveling with baby?

I would rather suggest that do not travel if your baby is small. Traveling could be tiresome; your baby may not like it. While we travel we want to make it comfortable for all. When your baby is fit to travel you could visit a lot of places. I was searching for information on Caribbean cruise when I found your post.

Q&A: Tips for traveling with baby?

First of all if you want to travel with your baby I would recommend you to do it by car. In this way you can stop whenever you need to do it. The first time when I traveled with my baby she was just three months old. I've bought her a comfortable car seat from auto parts online and she slept the majority of time there.

Q&A: Tips for traveling with baby?

We recently did a big 14 hour trip to FL and luckily it went great. My tip, search for Starbucks for breaks/rest stops. They have food and coffee for Mom and Dad, comfortable couches to play/rest on and hot water to help heat up bottles.

Q&A: Tips for traveling with baby?

My hubby and I took turns sitting with our little guy in the back seat, and it worked wonders! It wasn't even that we had to give him all the attention the whole drive, but just the fact that he had another "body" back there to look at. Then if he got bored, one of us was right there to offer him toys to distract him, or just talk to him.

Q&A: Tips for traveling with baby?

Travelling with a baby isn't that hard when you are well prepared for that.Starting with the travelling mode, by car or plane or train to where are you staying. When i stayed at the Fort Worth Texas hotel i had some great conditions, whenever i wanted to take a relaxing dinner with my husband or have a night for ourselves there was someone like a nanny who took care of your child.I think that hotels with child inclusive are the best.

Q&A: Tips for traveling with baby?

I am preparing my first travel by car with my baby and I've already checked for some travel and Car Insurance quotes as I want to be sure that in case something happens everything will be solved in a short time. Also I've bought a confortable car seat and some toys as it will be a long trip and I don't want my baby to get bored.
