Q&A: How to choose a baby book?

There are so many keepsake baby books on the market. How should I choose?

The Bump Expert

A baby book is a fun and meaningful way to record those special moments and milestones of baby’s first year -- and beyond. And it will be a good keepsake to share with baby when she becomes a big kid. The only problem? There are so many adorable options, it’s tough to pick.

If you’re going with a typical bound or binder-style book, consider just how much control over the content you want to have. Some baby books have pages already decorated with spaces for you to fill-in specific information, like funny anecdotes or baby’s height and weight at each age. This is a good choice if you don’t have a ton of time to spend on baby’s book, or if you sometimes have trouble finishing projects. Another option is a “flexible format” style, where you can move pages, add inserts and attach tabs and stickers for reference. Some books give you free rein to style and write. This is a great idea if you’re particularly crafty or love to keep a journal. Flip through and see what sort of content various books have. Some focus mainly on factual stuff about baby, like dates and stats. Others ask fun, out-of-the ordinary questions. They get you thinking, so that you can record some things you may never have thought of, and reading them later is that much more personal.

Looking for some not-so-traditional options? Think high tech. An online baby book is a great way to track your pregnancy progress -- and, later, baby’s growth and development -- and share photos and stories with family and friends no matter how far away they are. We can’t help but recommend using The Bump’s Baby Websites to do this. It’s free, easy to use and the templates are adorable. If you still want a physical book, you can create a photo-oriented one through a site like Kodak and add any pictures and text you want -- then have the completed book printed and mailed to you when you’re done.

There are no set guidelines when it comes to baby books, so have fun with it! It’s something you and your family will cherish for years to come.

Q&A: How to choose a baby book?

No one can tell you what type of baby book to choose. This is a subjective choice you have to make. It depends on preferences. Anyway, someone people used to choose pink for girls and blue for boys but lately things have changed so it doesn't really matter. I got a very nice one when I was still pregnant. I found it a couple of days ago when I decided to make some cash for books by selling some.

Q&A: How to choose a baby book?

I choose my nephew's books by using a sell used textbooks program and I received free assistance by doing so. I would have to agree with Allie though, that no one can tell you what type of baby books to choose. With the first book that I bought him I kind of failed but after I started to talk to him more the next books were gold!

Have you ever tried searching for such books in the Sacramento classifieds section? I did some shopping there and you can find some great products, including books for children or about children. Good luck!!

Q&A: How to choose a baby book?

In my opinion it's harder to choose a good soy baby formula. When it comes to books just buy or borrow a few and see which one appeals more to you. After that just stick with one or two books. Good luck!!

Q&A: How to choose a baby book?

These books are really special so choose wisely and choose only the best. You should make your child fond of reading when he grows ups. The more he reads the more his abilities like Reading comprehension improve.

Q&A: How to choose a baby book?

Personally i stay away from anything bearing a die cut stickers. I grew up reading books such as 'the cat in the hat' and other stories by Dr Seuss and Rudyard Kipling.
