Re: Will binding my breasts help decrease my milk supply?

The Bump Expert

Years ago, doctors advised moms to bind their breasts to help dry up their milk supply, but this advice is super-outdated. In fact, this practice can be dangerous. Wearing restrictive clothing (or otherwise smooshing your breasts) is painful and can lead to plugged ducts, mastitis, or even a breast abscess. If you are trying to reduce your milk supply for weaning, skip the binding. Eliminate one daily feeding at a time, and then wait a few days for your body to adjust before trying to eliminate another feeding. This is the safest way to slowly decrease your milk supply.
