Do I really need a nursing pillow?

Can you get by without one? Sure. Moms were successfully breastfeeding for centuries before they were invented. Still, a good nursing pillow can be a big help by helping you position baby and letting you rest your arms, especially in the first few weeks of breastfeeding. Try to find one that has flat surfaces to keep baby from rolling towards or away from your body.
