Turn the Flash Off

Your camera’s flash can create some pesky shadows. “One of the most important things would be to turn the flash off,” says Matt Cramer of Matt Cramer Photography in Los Angeles. “Unless a flash is used properly, it can create some of the most unflattering images imaginable. Go to an arts-and-crafts store and purchase an inexpensive 20” x 30” white foam board. Use the board to play around and experiment by bouncing some soft, window light back onto your baby to help fill in the shadows.”
