Getting Pregnant After A C-Section?

How long should I wait before conceiving again after a c-section?

It may seem like a long time, but at a minimum you should probably hold off at least 12 months (and in some cases up to 18 months) before you add another member to your family. Pregnancy brings with it a host of physiological changes, from raging hormones to rising fluid levels. And because you also had surgery, you need time to heal and allow your body to recover from the blood loss that occurs during the procedure. If you’ve had an emergency c-section with a vertical incision (your scar line runs north to south, not east to west), you may want to stay on the conservative side and wait even longer, since there’s a higher chance that incision can rupture. Be patient, and enjoy the moments you have now with your newborn. As any new parent can tell you, the time will pass faster than you realize.
