She advises a compete physical, including a pap smear and breast exam, because it’s much easier to diagnosis and treat problems before getting pregnant. Plus, your doctor can check out any existing medical problems (like asthma) or family genetic disorders (like diabetes) so you have a healthy pregnancy. If possible, go at least three months before trying, so the doctor also has time to update your
vaccinations and start you on folic acid to reduce your risk of health complications and birth defects. Your doc can also help you figure out the
best time of the month to TTC. And, with a clean bill of health, once you do get pregnant and start seeing changes in your body, you'll know it's normal pregnancy stuff and nothing to worry about!
