Would You Add Your Unborn Baby to Your Facebook Profile? Photo: Tom K!/Shutterstock.com / The Bump
If you’re expecting, you’re probably sharing your progress with family and friends over Facebook -- are we right? Well, now you can actually add baby to your family and friends list before he’s even born, thanks to a new feature. Here’s how you do it: Just click on “Edit Profile,” and then click “Friends and Family” on the left side. Next, click on “Add another family member,” and select “Expected: Child” from the drop-down list. You can then plug in baby’s name (if you’ve decided) and your due date. Just beware: This will show up in your friends’ news feeds, so make sure you actually want everyone to know you’re expecting before you add baby.
Before this big change, if an expectant mom wanted to create an announcement for her anticipated bundle of joy, she had to create a separate profile just for baby. But this new option has stirred up some mixed feelings among Facebook users -- should baby be listed as a family member before he’s born? And will some moms start announcing the news this way, instead of more old-fashioned (and personal) ways, like in person or over the phone?
What do you think? Would you use this new Facebook option? How do you feel about announcing your pregnancy and due date on sites like Facebook?
