Woman Goes Into Labor Hours After Running Marathon
Photo: Veer We’d like to give major props to Amber Miller, a 27-year-old new mama who managed to finish a marathon and give birth all on the same day. Yes, that’s right -- Miller participated in the Bank of America Chicago Marathon on October 9 at 39 weeks pregnant and gave birth hours after finishing. She had signed up before she found out she was pregnant and decided to go ahead with the race after her doctor gave her the okay. According to ABC News, the avid runner had already run two marathons while pregnant -- she participated last May while 17 weeks pregnant and ran one in 2009 while she was expecting her first child. Miller felt contractions while she was running but kept going. She walked the last half of the race and finished in six and a half hours. After finishing, she and her husband (who also ran the marathon) went to the hospital, but not before she grabbed something to eat. She gave birth later that night to a baby girl, June. Congrats to the new mama -- now that’s dedication!
What do you think of this mom finishing a marathon while pregnant? Would you ever do it?
