More Americans Would Rather Have a Baby Boy Than a Girl Photo: Thinkstock / The Knot
What if you could decide the gender of your baby? A recent poll by Gallup asked Americans what sex they would choose if they could have only one child. The results: 40 percent said they’d pick a boy, while only 28 percent said they’d go for a girl; the rest of the respondents were undecided or didn’t have a preference. We were shocked to read this! Seems like things have barely changed since 1941, when the same Gallup poll showed a similar preference toward having a boy, with a 38 percent to 24 percent margin. What’s even more interesting was that men chose boys over girls in a much wider margin than women did.
When you found out you were pregnant, were you hoping for a boy or a girl? Why?
