Would You Broadcast Your Labor? This Mom Is
A Canadian woman plans to live-stream her home birth online. Yes, you heard that right -- Nancy Salgueiro, a 32-year-old chiropractor and birth coach who’s expecting her third child, is inviting everyone to watch her give birth on her website, YourBirthCoach.com, and on her Facebook page. Salgueiro hopes that by live-streaming her delivery, she’ll put other expectant moms at ease. “The reason why I’m doing this is because in our culture, we’ve created this idea with fear and this visual image of what birth is that has created this culture of fear, secrecy and privacy,” she says in her video. “We don’t know what to expect as women going into labor ourselves. I really believe that it’s important for women to see what a normal, natural birth is like.” Salgueiro’s due date is this week, so if you’re interested in watching, stay tuned to her site.
