Say What? One Mom Ate a Big Mac Every Day During Pregnancy
Okay, moms with food allergies: Help us out with this one. We just read about a woman in England who told the Daily Mail she ate a Big Mac every day during pregnancy. Why, exactly? Because her severe food allergies kept her from eating almost everything else, including fruits, veggies, eggs, rice and fish. She says she was even told not to take prenatal vitamins since they could set off her allergies and she wouldn’t be able to take any kind of antihistamine to stop a reaction. We feel totally bad for her for having to miss out on all those delicious, healthy foods, but we’ve got to wonder about her judgment -- were Big Macs really the best allergy-free option?
Wondering what effect the Big Macs had? Well, so far it seems like none. Sure, she had a big baby, born at 10 lbs., 2 oz., but big babies can be born to moms who don’t have daily fast food too.
This all begs the question: Moms with food allergies, how did you eat right during pregnancy? And do you believe this woman’s story?
