New Trend: Fake Baby Bumps? Photo: Lindsay Flanagan
Would you ever consider wearing a fake pregnancy belly? Well, apparently it’s a must-have fashion trend in China right now. According to the Washington Post, the bestselling fake bumps come in various sizes (for the different months of pregnancy, of course!) and are made of silica gel so that they feel like real skin. You can get these life-like bumps for $80-$250.
So who in the heck would buy a fake belly? Fans of the bellies aren’t really using it to be stylish -- they're more for theater, practical jokes or to feel what it’s like to be pregnant (maybe to get mentally prepared while you’re TTC?). And while these aren’t as high-tech as the Japanese-made pregnancy suits for men that we wrote about a few months ago, these “accessories” are gaining popularity online.
