Couple Uses Facebook to Settle Their Baby Name Debate

Photo: Facebook / The Bump

Is this a new way to choose a baby name? A Chicago couple was having trouble deciding on a name for their second daughter, so they turned to the Facebook masses to help them out. According to the Chicago Tribune, Dave and Lindsay Meske didn’t like each other’s choices for a baby girl’s name, and decided to bring their fight to Facebook. And since Lindsay had more Facebook friends, Dave evened the playing field by opening the poll up to the whole Facebook community -- over 4,200 people voted from all over the world.

The poll asked people to choose from four names: McKenna, Addilyne, Madelyn and Emily. Madelyn was the winner with 1,310 votes. And the couple went through with the choice -- they plan to bring newborn Madelyn home from the hospital today. If you’re wondering how the other names placed in the poll, Emily came in second with 1,265 votes, McKenna in third with 938 votes and Addilyne in last place with 687 votes.
