Bumpie Words in Our Inbox Photo: E.D. Austin Photography
Of course we’re biased on this, but we couldn’t help but laugh when we saw the daily Word of the Day from Dictionary.com. The featured word: Bumptious (BUMP-shus \, adjective), which means “Crudely, presumptuously, or loudly self-assertive.” Who would’ve thought that “bump” could be used in a word to describe someone who is obnoxious? Too bad we can’t vent to someone (Dictionary.com is just the messenger after all). Moms-to-be and new moms are strong-willed, outspoken women, who should be as self-assertive as they want to be, and however they want to be – no apologies, and proud of it! So let’s redefine bumptious now, because we love our bumptious bumpie ways.
How would you use “bumptious” in a sentence?
