Birth Month Can Determine Career Choices Photo: Thinkstock / The Bump
If your baby’s born in January, he’s more likely to be a debt collector when he grows up. Say what? A new study by the UK’s Office for National Statistics that was featured in the UK’s Journal of Family Health Care showed that a child’s birth month can suggest his future career. Researchers took information from the UK’s last census to analyze the birth months of people in 19 different career fields. They found that artists are born in February, pilots are born in March, and athletes and physicists are born in September. Don’t worry: If you have dreams of your kid becoming a CEO, those chances are spread evenly throughout all the months. Whether you think this study is spot-on or totally wrong, one thing is for certain, according to Russell Foster, a neuroscientist at Oxford University: Life span, height, performance in school and the likelihood of developing certain diseases (spring babies may be more susceptible to asthma, autism and schizophrenia) are all related to the month or time of year you were born.
What do you think of this study? Do you believe birth month decides career path?
