Hey Working Moms: Your Job Can Be Good for Your Marriage
It goes without saying that working moms have a lot going on, so you might assume that when work gets piled on, their marriages suffer, but a new study suggests that it’s actually the opposite -- as long as mom is satisfied with her job. The study, published in the Journal of Family Psychology, collected data on 169 married couples over a period of four years. When researchers looked closely at couples who had kids, they found that moms were more likely to report having higher marital satisfaction during periods when they also had a large workload. But the biggest factor was job satisfaction: The more satisfied both parents were with their jobs, the more likely each of them was to report being happy with their marriage.
