Should You Worry If Your Baby’s a Late Talker?
Waiting for your tot to talk is a milestone every parent waits for, but new research says not to worry if yours starts to blab a little later than her pals. The research, published in Pediatrics, compared kids who weren’t talking at age two with kids who were, and tested both groups for behavioral and emotional problems -- and then followed them until age 17. At age two, the late talkers did have some behavioral issues (probably because they were having trouble communicating!), but at 5, 8, 10, 14 and 17 years, there was no difference. This means you can breathe easy if your toddler isn’t talking yet!
