New Moms (Accidentally) Breastfeed Each Other’s Babies!
The first hours with baby can be a bonding experience -- but what if it was the wrong baby? An article in the Herald Sun says two women who gave birth at Geelong Hospital in Australia were handed back what each thought was her own bundle of joy -- but in reality, they were swapped! After eight full hours of playing -- and even breastfeeding! -- the mothers were informed they’d been accidentally given the wrong babies! Hospital staffers blame “human error”; in other words, someone forgot to check the moms’ and babies’ ID bracelets. According to the newspaper, the hospital has apologized and offered counseling and extra care to both sets of parents. The hospital is currently investigating the mix-up, too, so hopefully it won’t happen again!
What do you think of the mix-up -- was it an excusable human error or an unforgivable mistake?
