Is it Okay to Be Your Daughter’s BFF? Photo: Bart Stadnicki / Vh1
I’ve watched enough episodes of Gilmore Girls to believe that the ultimate mother-daughter team is Lorelai and Rory. They were best friends who told each other everything and they even shared clothes! What girl wouldn’t want to have a close relationship with her mom? But is that even possible in real life -- and if mom and daughter are close, is there a line you can cross? Well, a new reality show by the creator of Jersey Shore seems like it will find the line and cross way over. Premiering on New Year's Day 2012, Mama Drama will follow five mother-daughter pairs who are BFFs to the extreme -- in other words (since this is coming from the mastermind behind Snooki and the Situation) these mothers and daughters are nothing like Lorelai and Rory. We’re talking more like Amy Poehler’s character in Mean Girls (“I’m not like a regular mom, I’m a cool mom!”).
Yup, these mamas love to have fun and party -- maybe even more than their daughters do! VH1 has even hinted that viewers might have a hard time distinguishing who’s the mom and who’s the daughter. And judging from the first promo photo, we’re ready to watch the epic fights and girl drama that may rival the Jersey Shore. No doubt this show will be a guilty pleasure (and also make us extra grateful for our own, more conventional, relationships with our moms!).
Will you watch this show? Do you think it’s possible to be both a mom and BFF to your daughter?
