So by now you probably know to limit baby’s sun exposure so she doesn’t get a burn (everything in moderation, mama!), but new research may explain why babies need a little extra protection from UV rays. A new study, published in the journal Pediatrics, says that babies’ skin barrier protection is immature for at least the first two years of life, and that sun exposure during those years could cause permanent changes in baby’s skin. All the more reason to stock up on sun hats, beach umbrellas and baby-safe sunscreen.
