Grandma Gets a Huge Surprise -- Finds Out She’s Pregnant!
Debbie Hughes is one of Britain’s oldest mothers to conceive naturally. According to the UK’s Daily Mail, the 53-year-old woman gave birth to her son Kyle in June after a very surprising pregnancy. Debbie has two sons, Mark, who’s 26 years old, and Brandon, who’s 11 years old, and she had a daughter, Hayley, who died before her 18th birthday. She’s also a grandma to her son Mark’s children Lydia (2 years old) and Nicole (3 years old).
Debbie says she took a pregnancy test after her son noticed that her belly was getting bigger and started teasing her about putting on weight. She said she put on her reading glasses to see the result of the test and when she found out it was positive, she took three more to make sure it was right. She and her family weren’t the only ones who were shocked -- when she told her doctor the news, he almost fell off his chair. She was already five months along (guess she thought it was menopause?)! Debbie was worried about her age and having a healthy pregnancy, but she seemed to have no problem and ended up delivering Kyle without a c-section at a healthy 7 pounds, 11 ounces.
She told the Daily Mail, that she hadn’t lost any of her mommy instincts, “I do get more tired than I did before, especially getting up to do night feeds. But I do love being a mum again.”
