It’s Finally Here: The Electric Minivan Photo: Tesla Motors
Get excited, moms -- the minivan just got a whole lot cooler. Tesla Motors has debuted the Model X, which is the company’s third all-electric car. The sleek automobile is a hybrid of an SUV and a minivan and can fit seven people.
And for those of you who are car geeks, it has a dual motor all-wheel drive, which means it can handle all different kinds of weather and roads and it can go from 0 to 60 mph in less than five seconds (whoa!). And don’t be deceived by its gear head appeal, it’s also got things parents will love. The car has doors called “falcon wings,” which means they open upward so you can get in out of the car easily if you’re in a tight parking space. It also has easy access to the second and third rows so kids in the back don’t have to climb or jump over any seats, like in other minivans and SUVs. Other features include a touchscreen to control just about everything, such as the temperature, GPS and stereo.
Unfortunately, if you’re interested, you’ll have to wait a while before you can purchase the vehicle. Tesla expects production to start in late 2013 and the cars to be sold in early 2014. We wish all family-friendly cars were this stylish!
